This is the biggest problem of the Maxcoin community, and the main reason why the coin was almost dead in 2016:
miners and community members who don't invest in the coin publicity and only mine or buy coins for short term profit reasons.

The only problem I had with Max was, transactions above 5000 didn't work, wallet says transaction too large (had to often drop the amount).

Does anybody have a solution?

IIRC it's not the 5000 max that is the problem it's the number of source blocks needed to make up the transaction.
i.e. 2500 * 2max or 5 * 1000 max blocks
With many coins you need to do some housekeeping and minimise the number by sending to yourself

I have recently sent 10s of ks without issue (max was a very fast deposit on YoBit too) but my blocks are ~1650 max
If these were still mining outputs there would be huge numbers of them

anyone know how to get a recent/working wallet for maxcoin on mac osx ?

my old one no longer sync's.. so i have some coins from a few years back that i mined but no access to them..

Big discrepancy in price between the Chinese exchange and yobit. Too bad there's no opportunity for arbitrage.

Also, Max was shilling Maxcoin on InfoWars today. Was touting the price as being 25 cents. At least he still loves his own coin.

I am new to this crytocoin stuff. I have been using MinerControl and it has mined (through MiningPoolHub) some MaxCoin a couple of days ago. I noted it doesnt auto-exchanged to bitcoin. Then MiningPoolHub reported it as having a 0.0 profit and market. WhatToMine also reports it as zero market. I have just installed the wallet shown in the first post in this topic, but it cant sync with the network. I saw some discussions above. Is there a way to convert these MAX to another coin currently? Could you summarize what happened and what is expected? I am just trying to learn and figure out the risks of this cryptocoin area.
