Let's have fun with the difficulty.

Dropping 28 G/Hashes on this for a few hours to see what happens. I think DeepBit can do with out me for a while  Grin

I think that could be enough for a 51% attack  Cool

i'd rather learn later, once bitcoin is more mainstream and less vulnerable to competition.
True, but it doesn't look like we have a choice.

Groupcoin was not replaced with devcoin then?

GRouPcoin as vehicle for specific "features" desired by the devcoin project was "replaced" by devcoin as vehicle for those "features" once various approaches had been tested by trying them out in the GRouPcoin code, so GRouPcoin was freed up for possible future use in trying to implement some other feature, such as "licensed mining", that devcoin turned out not to need.

So at some future time it is possible GRouPcoin might set "licensed mining" to start as of some future block number, if anyone still wants "licensed mining"' to be developed (lets remember here that "wants", in the devcoin development via groupcoin process, was measured at 100  BTC of "desire to have it happen"), in the meantime it simply clunks along at a sedate 50 coins per block every block with reward halving still disabled and I am not sure about topping out at 21 million, it might just keep right on going past 21 million. (Since there isn't rreally a ceiling at 21 million, there is simply a limit to the value an endless sum of halvings of value asymptotically approaches, and that halving is not present...)

There is little to be gained by mentioning current difficulty unless being raped is a gain...

I don't see the valued added by this fork and believe me I'm trying....
I can only think of one myself: what happens when people release Bitcoin alternatives. I guess better to learn now rather than later.

Difficulty must have soared as i mined 864 within 14 minutes and now haven't mined anything at all for more than half an hour.

Unless you have your own pushpoold and blkmond set up, the churn will clobber you.

That high already? Hmm, how many GRouPcoin are they worth each? How many DeVCoin?

Maybe the ratios might tip in favour of mining GRouPcoin or DeVCoin instead of IXCoin?

Will you sell those 2000 IXC? If so, for how many DeVCoin? Or, how many GRouPcoin?

Or, if you can come up with a worthwhile quantity of them, I might even consider buying with BiTCoin. Though I dunno, the fees are scary high with Bitcoin because it is such a vastly valuable precious high powered currency more suitable for international balances of payments than having fun. Do you have any +3 or better magic swords? If so, in which server of which game? I might be interested in those too if they are P2P (I can take them to some other server of some other game)...

Seriously though, if A LOT of new chains were to start with the variables tweaked a bit wouldn't that just make Bitcoin stronger? You would have hundreds of tiny ones but only one big one. It would be hard for any of the small ones to really steal the market as they would be competing with so many others. Bitcoin has the advantage of being way ahead of the rest.
The problem is building an economy with lots of different chains. It is hard enough for general adoption and agreement on the value of a coin with just one chain and kind of coin. If there are a hundred chains and different people all have a hundred different kinds of virtual coins, how do you know what your coins are worth? It makes the world of exchanges very complicated.

I point 1.4 GH at it earlier today for 30 minutes and generated 2000 IXC.

I think it' a waste of time personally. I'm still waiting for the reason why this is a good idea.

Also, why are you guys actually pointing your hashing power at this drivel? Don't reward this guy's mockery of a bunch of other people's hard work.
