Well maybe in updating Tenebrix and Fairbrix, merged mining could be implemented?
Though the fact that Litecoin and DOGE do not seem to be intending to be merged mined together leads me to think the whole scrypt arena might just be too fragmented and self-destructive to be worth bothering with. Basically coins that are determined not be be seucre a an insult to the users and investors, like hey you idiots this crap is garbage, we have no intention of ever securing your money, the whole point is to rip you off so why the heck would we care that our blockchains are insecure, only idiots would waste money on this crap anyway so obviously any users are out to lose their money anyway so to heck with security, no one cares about that, its all about ripping you off, idiot...

The Tenebrix network is weak, but still functioning. I've sent and received TBX as recently as this year.
I usually sync the blockchain with my wallet every 6 months or so, usually during computer spring cleaning time, during which I delete all the junk crypto files that accumulate. I could never bring myself to delete my TBX files, however. Altcoins come and go and are nearly all rubbish, but the original alts like TBX seem worth saving for the lulz, the nostalgia, or the history.
The Fairbrix network is a bit stronger, I've noticed, but not by much. Of the old altcoins, Liquidcoin has the most spotty network and is the only one I can't consistently sync. I was able to mine LQC until the end of last year, but the network has become extremely weak since then.
I see no reason why Tenebrix code couldn't be updated. IXCoin and I0Coin have been updated, indirectly because they have benefited from being merge mined all these years, which not only secured their networks but also kept the coins in the crypto-consciousness; whereas the non-MM coins like TBX and FBX have been relegated to mostly leftover PCs and slow CPUs. Yet it wasn't long ago that IXCoin and I0Coin seemed just as ancient as TBX.

This would be interesting. I have a portable version of Tenebrix client for Windows (I don't remember its source...) The client synchronizes with TBX network without any problems.But tenebrix was premined, that's its problem...

It is ancient code, based on multicoin.
Coblee then made Fairbrix, which also seems to be maybe based on multicoin code, but hacking the code instead of putting all the details such as genesis block into the config file like multicoin did.
Then he made Litecoin using bitcoin code instead of multicoin code I think.
Fairbrix only has a GUI version, no daemon.
Tenebrix has a daemon and a QT GUI, if you use Lolcust's Tenebrix-QT repo to build it. His other repos seem to be out of date and maybe even broken so the -QT is the one to use.
But they are still running, some day we'll get around to updating the code, in the meantime they serve, like BBQcoin did for so long, as a way for CPU miners to quietly mine month after month... Very fair method of distribution, giving plenty of time for anyone who wants some to get some before they follow BBQcoin into the limelight...

Tenebrix was a very good concept and I only wish it had succeeded better. RIP Tenebrix.
