also...compared to 2 BFL FPGA singles, I'd prefer the avalon sound. The singles have a high pitched noise while the avalon has a lower pitched noise.
how does the noise compare to a 2 gpu miner?
The machine is really loud....it keeps making the sound: CHA-CHING CHA-CHING!
I have a 3 card rig that is quieter than the avalon, but i swapped out the fans on that rig. In my desktop I have 2 stock 6950s and the avalon is quieter than those. I'm going to put the Avalon in the garage, so ultimately noise won't be an issue...maybe heat will be once summer comes around.
Seriously jealous now.
What's a realistic shipping date for someone making an order just now? I just don't want to gamble that much. If it's going to ship in 3-4 months time FSM knows where will difficulty be at that point...
I would suggest waiting until batch 2 customers start to receive theirs. The problem is CNY (Chinese New Year) was in the way of the first and second batch. So there is no real way to know how long it should take from ordering to having it in your hands.
If you wanna get on the train, you're gonna have to order when batch 3 opens no matter what. You won't get another chance until batch 4.
Whether batch 2 will ship before then or not is anyone's guess.

This really makes Butterfly look like idiots. A young kid against an entire company and the entire company can't even produce a working prototype? And Avalon is already shipping? Jesus man, what corruption.
They are not company speaking of their technical skills. they are just a proxy between real developers/fabrics located in china probably and they had a long and nice partner fxxxk for the last half+ year. They just do not admit it and never will. That is the reason for TOM/BASIC Failure. These are the facts as i see them. BFL have nothing to do about it because their partners are making the delays no matter how hard they try to look like "high tech company which is designing a CUSTOM asic" - complete bullshit. Being a good manager and taking money does not mean that only management can produce asics from nothing. From the other hand nghzand proved many times that he has the skills and knowledge. And here we go Yufu is taking care of business maters and all are happy

I can tell you it's shipped as your tracking info was on the list, so is Keefe for that matter.
I've heard nothing either. My order was placed 23 minutes after Keefe's, number 20000017x, so I expect I'm not too far behind him in the queue. I'm also in the US.
I sure wish I could login to the avalon webstore and see the status of my order, and maybe tracking information, but alas the link 404s anymore.
