Shouldn't the thread title be [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 "Ships" since for the most part, it's not really true?

Any word on Batch 1?

I made a fairly large order in Batch 1 - Now I can't even log into their store.....

How much longer should batch 1 customers have to wait?

sigh,

shipping priority does not mean the order which shipping happen.

it kind of just means soon as we get a trade in order we will ship it, whilst regular order ships in parallel, they just fall under two queues as suppose to one.

I have to remember these things are not obvious, apologies.

thats even better, however,  I would appreciate one accurate delivery date for firstday batch2 tradein buyers. im sure that would make some other folks happy too.

my offer stands still to veryone else owning Icarus/Lancelot-- if you want to ship your boards to China I can hold them for you and deliver to AvalonAsic in safety. All I ask is confirmation of whos going to collect them, and where. Perhaps I should start a thread

Poor impulse control.
Are there still people who haven't had their order confirmed by Avalon from Batch #2?

Mine is confirmed with walletbit but I havent got that email, thanks all the guys who sent me a copy yesterday!

This is OT, but since you asked mine hasn't been confirmed yet by Avalon or Walletbit.

WalletBit has now confirmed my order.

Mine is also confirmed with walletbit, but I havent got confirmation email from AVALON. WB told me that Avalon to meet its obligations. I wait to see what will happen, when they start shipping.

The people that ordered BFL are NOT in the same boat. Their boat is sinking quick with bricks making it go down faster.

Lulz, no, BFL orders are not in the same boat.
When BFL actually says they have shipped them, you'll get them soon after Tongue
Note that Kano recently visited them in person.

Avalon is the scammers?

Yifu has already said that they shipped a batch of 53 units but they wouldn't know for sure until today whether those units made it out of the country before the CNY cut-off.  Until they know that, they can't give people an idea of when they might receive their units and I seem to recall that they were giving priority to shipping large orders so your unit may not be in that batch of 53 (one person ordered 43).

I also seem to recall him saying that he'd deal with your problem when he got back to NY.  Given that it was his birthday on Thursday plus he personally delivered the ASIC to Bitcoin Foundation, you might want to give him some breathing space.

He already offered you a refund and you chose to wait for delivery instead.  Everyone knew that shipping would be affected by CNY.  Frustrating as that might be, everyone else is in the same boat as you are.

Yifu is likely doing all the logistics and book-keeping for the first 300 orders and the next 600.

The accounting for the 300 units batch #1 was done in October/November 2012, if by beginning 2013 there was not a clear list with
customer shipping addresses and number of units ordered, then there was seriously something wrong with their order management.

Test shipping a box with hardware with the right dimensions could have been done in January. Why figure out in Feb that it would be more expensive than expected?

Plus he may be dealing with parts suppliers, put yourself in his shoes for a second.   I sell and ship phone systems and it is a lot of work to do it right.
I hope Yifu is not personally ordering parts, I hope ngzhang does that. Yifu does not know his resistors apart from MOSFETs and inductors.

I think some people are confusing a business (something that scales with growth, when it's profitable. A structure that moves people out of spots where they are not productive aka hurt growth and replaces them with qualified staff) with being self-employed. If your run a 'business' that can't keep running if you take 6 months of holidays, then it's self-employment.

Nothing wrong trying to do loads of things yourself but at one point you need to delegate, otherwise you end up with a major burnout and loads of frustrated customers.

Is Yifu in NY or CN? Is he assembling boxes himself and slapping on waybills? I doubt it. I hope he is sitting behind a desk dealing with more important organizing stuff.

Duly noted.

I suspect it was they ran out of money and couldn't afford to buy something important, like the cases or pay for shipping. The expanded Batch 2 sale gave them the funds necessary to finish and profit, since the development costs are done.

Avalon is surely swamped with building and shipping right now, but they need to hire someone to straight up do order management and customer relations. This is getting ridiculous.
They already have a person dealing with order management and customer relations, it's Yifu.

He is not in a warehouse assembling boxes, he is sitting behind a desk with a phone and a computer.

Not sure what he does that takes so much time away from his just as customer relations manager though ;-)
One can only speculate...

I speculate either counting the money (or swimming in it)... or slightly more preferable, counting the number of digits worth of bitcoins in their wallet... ?

So basically, since early Feb, no units were shipped out and on Monday all of them will be shipped out. Now that is anti-climax
What happened to the idea of building 12 per day and shipping them out gradually?

What can be the logic behind holding on to all the units and shipping them out at once? Needed to find a different sales droid for a mayor shipping company to strike a deal with a discount? That people was not available during CNY? OK, but that does not explain why it took two weeks until after CNY... Most companies give discount based on your shipping spread out over several weeks (like 12 weeks to reach your tier discount). No need to save them up.

Whatever happened to those 53 units shipped out before CNY?

The news update brings more questions marks than answers
