hi all ,run one day my 2 new s3 no problem to report, also check the power constipation on 228 v ac get readings 2,8 A on both miners ruining, 322 w +-10% per miner . The HW error is all most nothing ,both miners run at 440gh and put the new firmware update also (antMiner_S320140721.bin).

ordered 3 b1 and 2 b2, got 1 unit 2 days ago and the other 4 today. easy setup, way way way quieter than my cointerra and spondoolies s10, hashing averaged between all machines for the entire day at 444 Gh/s each.

Where are you located? I am in Portugal, the boxes says outside Bitcoin Miner but i never had those costums issues.

It would be nice if Bitmain could change that for 'Computer Processor'. This expression fits in almost every fiscal system of any country. I know it because its my job to know it.

I am guessing sooner or later this issue could be getting worse as EEUU is already to plan to 'attack' bitcoin mining pools.

Some people reported a change when they moved the power PCI-e connections from the front to rear (or whatever you define as front on these Antminers).
How is your power connected? (assume front is the side with the Ethernet connector).
Did you try to look under the covers over the hashing ASICS?

Only chain #1 is displayed and hashing is at around 200ghs.

Still no reply from my email, forum post or twitter to Bitmain Sad

Ok, this one is just for curiosity (and who know challenge bitmain to make some improvments, if already possible sorry for my ignorance in this matter). SOLO MINING WITH s1, S2 OR S3. in this case with S3:

1. I created a config file and put it in the proper folder at appdata,etc.
2. I created a bat file to work as server to put in the same folder of the wallet.
3. Then it requested me to put also a bat file in cgminer folder with connection instructions as username, pass, ip and port connection (this one i dont know how to do it as Antminer S3 already have cgminer).

So i tried to overpass the point 3 and put in my s3 the pool conection details after i click in server bat file but it crashes and in the antminer it says dead.

Any ideia how to solo mine with Antminer S3? Regardless is profitable or not. Just for curiosity.

Thanks, everything ok now, just powered them. I allways use 1 psu for each board and that was what i did. 1 conection only in each board, in this case from diferent psu.

I made a triple metal net case very thin to protect from the eventual dust.

No, each board needs at least one pci-e connector, if you choose to use both connections on each board, make sure each board is powered from the same PSU 12volt rail if its a dual rail PSU, do not power a single board from different PSU's. BUT, each board can be powered by their own PSU.

Since i saw yesterday the Antminer S3 manual i am in doubt about pci-e connections.

In my S1 i used to conect each pce-i in each side of machine. I did the same with the S3. Its hashing ok but is it right or i must connect both 2pci-e just in one side of the machine and leave the other 2 in other side of machine free?

Other forum members reported improvement after removal of the top covers from the hashing boards and cleaup of excess thermal paste (or adding thermal paste on chips that had none). I'm not sure that this will fix your 'dead blade' issue, but you may have nothing to lose. My theory is that the IDC (insulation displacement contacts) of the controller-to-hashing board cables is marginal on some of these, causing intermittent connection (not picked up during factory tests, but 'wiggled' out of connection during transport).

I got 2x miners on B1, so there was no customs/GST charge. Beastlymac also reported that he had no customs charges. My understanding is that the GST threshold is AUD1000, something to consider in future purchases.
This time BITMAIN labeled the boxes 'Bitcoin miner', while on S1 deliveries it was 'computer gateway'. Perhaps this labeling caused the long delays in shipping, as it 'did not compute' for the customs people.
I emailed UPS to ask why the delay and the response was that these are security checks outside their control.

I had the same issue with one of my S3's, it also had a single line for the blades on initial start-up. I removed the cover, pushed all the connectors between the controller and blades into the sockets, then reconnected power and now both blades are showing and hash rate is fine (about 431 GH/s avg after 1d 21hr at stock settings). I suspect workmanship issues with the cables, so I asked Bitmain to send a replacement cable with my next order on B4.
While you wait for a reply, you could try removing the cover (just a few screws, simple) and check out these cables.
