Now that the order limit has been lowered to 50, is there interest in a Group Buy based in the Western US?  It would be run similar to CanaryInTheMine's at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/close-group-buy-2-13650-asicminer-erupter-usb-203636-each-5-units-217981 but restricted to US orders only.  The cost would be a flat BTC2.1 per USB miner.  They would be shipped by Priority Mail.  I'm based in southern California, so orders from the western US would arrive earliest.  Orders would be collected using a Google Doc form such as https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1BuuD7-o_rmz1hIJrLrBstewoRD_iWt2wrEFiKCpadsA/viewform.  Reply or PM if you are interested, and if there is enough interest I will open it up.

I've said it before: 0.5BTC or under and maybe we'll talk. 2BTC is just ridiculous.

I agree, massively overpriced

As an ASICMINER share holder I approve of as high of a price as possible Smiley

Linux since 1997 RedHat 4
Australian code been hashing since 14-May Smiley
cgminer next release will support them automatically (it already does in git)

With current 3.1.1 you need either
 --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing short
OR
 --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100
N.B. the 3.0 will depend on your chips performance but it wont slow anything down (or hash less) if it is wrong, it will just not report the correct MH/s
The 100 ensures it will hash at full speed.

(Edit: forgot to add of course you need -S device for 3.1.1 for each device also e.g. -S COM1 or -S /dev/ttyUSB0)
And to repeat: next release of cgminer will find them automatically (and also allow hotplug of them)

Also note that temperature is important with these devices.
Mine doesn't have a heat sink and gets between 1% and 1.5% errors with ambient low 20'sC
If you are noticing even 1% errors, cooling it down will almost certainly reduce that.

My recent post about them Smiley

I wish I could buy one of these Sad
why? they can't make roi ever, they are useless...

Not being an ass but can you elaborate?

it's the expected onlining of all the other aisc stuff. avalon, but their own units and the chips, the 100th mine, bfl, etc. difficulty is expected by most to launch like a saturn 5 rocket and leave the moon in it's wake.

if that actually happens, ROI with these will go from the current 4 or 5 months (or whatever it is) to longer and longer, until eventually the electrical cost of running one, plus the host pc, exceeds what it earns.

Kind of scarry but if you see this as a hobby that should be ok, such as golfing, fishing, paragliding and bitcoin mining Grin

Congrats OP on the rollout. Glad to see big progress on this. Wished I had some BTC to spare but the price is a blocker for me.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/eecf/?srp=4

anybody know if this thing could actually power 28 (heck, even 20) of these miners at once? 4 amp power supply, i think.

4A, so it could theoretically safely power 7-8 miners (assuming ~500mA draw).
