I use wallet 1.0.0.0g. Do I have to make a backup of my wallet, uninstall it, download the new wallet and move my wallet backup to the new folder?
Its always a smart idea to backup your wallet.dat.
I updated it the following way on Windows1) Made a backup out of the running wallet using the build in "backup" option
2) Closed the wallet and made a backup of %APPDATA%/altcommunitycoin
3) Deleted the old .exe
4) Downloaded the new .exe
5) Started it and verified that it display the correct version.
On Ubuntu with QT:1) Made a backup out of the running wallet using the build in "backup" option
2) Closed the wallet and made a backup of ~/.altcommunitycoin
3) Deleted the old
4) Downloaded the new file
5) Started it and verified that it display the correct version.
On Ubuntu headless:1) Copied the running wallet.dat to wallet.save (I always have a bad feeling copy a running file)
2) Closed the wallet and made a backup of ~/.altcommunitycoin
3) Deleted the old folder
4) Cloned the newest git from github
5) Compiled it
6) Started it and verified that it display the correct version.
You find the version you are using in your Wallet in: "Help -> about altcommunitycoin" in the first row
