We did it! And a new Riecoin website!

The long anticipated network upgrade is finally at its end, with the miners reaching the consensus threshold yesterday. Thank you everyone for your contribution to our success! We can now move forwards and work for the Riecoin’s future.

There will still be a one-week period before the actual softforks activation, so late people have until Block 1096704 to upgrade to 0.16.3.1. After this point, blocks produced using older versions will be rejected.

Meanwhile, a new Riecoin website has been opened, riecoin.dev. Indeed, the original website riecoin.org was not updated since 2014, and there is no sign of its owner gatra to update it. There is no point in referencing Riecoin with an outdated website, which would give the impression of a dead project, and notably deter exchanges from listing Riecoin.

Also, Riecoin was proposed to the SouthXchange platform. While still a low volume exchange, it has much more liquidity than Zapple, which will certainly help to make the Riecoin price recover and stabilize it. Getting listed there will also reactive Riecoin in CoinMarketCap! Help Riecoin win the vote!

New Riecoin Core Release - 0.16.3.1

A lot of efforts have been given in order to modernize the Riecoin wallet from 0.10.2 to 0.16.3. To complete the upgrade and move forward (start listing in other exchanges, improve the proof of work and beat new records, etc.), some softforks have to be enabled. However, the activation process is getting stale. Indeed, 95% of the blocks must indicate support for these forks during 12 h, which is basically impossible because of a couple of miners. Both never appeared publicly to explain why they are not upgrading.

As it is clear that the majority of the Riecoin community wants to upgrade, and as we should not be retained by those non cooperating people, we decided to lower the threshold to 77.5% (80% might still be too much, 75% a bit low as we reached 76.5% recently). The window has been increased from 12 h to 1 week to ensure a safe activation. We also want to give everyone enough time to upgrade to 0.16.3.1.
Please upgrade as soon as possible.

New miners are welcome, and additional mining power from the curent ones as well, in order to reach this 77.5% threshold and definitively make 0.10.2 a thing of the past. We can do it!
New developers are more than welcome too. Bitcoin just released 0.18.0, and Riecoin shall never be outdated again like it was in the 0.10.2 era.

You can get the latest official binaries here: https://github.com/riecointeam/riecoin/releases
No further action have to be done, other than replacing the wallet binaries and restarting it.
That said, always make sure that you have backups of your private keys.

Confirmed win64 sha256sum match. I added osx binaries to the release. Congrats on the build work.

I hope my hash will help

I created a GMP branch that replaces bignum with GMP. This should eliminate compile errors when using newer versions of libssl. I have tested on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 with libssl 1.1. I was able to sync from scratch and have been running for a couple days with no issues.

I haven't updated the build system. For now you need to compile using ./configure LIBS=-lgmp
Can someone help with this?

I have tested in my two vps, Ubuntu 18.04 with libssl 1.1.

$ git clone https://github.com/riecointeam/riecoin -b GMP riecoin-gmp
$ cd riecoin-gmp
$ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure LIBS=-lgmp
$ make
$ ~/riecoin-gmp/src/riecoind

It's running with no issues.

Why in some blocks there is 22,66666666, and not 25 ric?

These are from the superblocks. Once a week there is a superblock with a difficulty about 45% higher than usual. These have a reward of of 694.66666666 and take 70 minutes to find on average. The 287 blocks around that superblock are slightly easier than usual to find and have a reward of 22.66666666.

thanks for the explanation

I suggest all holders of the dead coins(removed from poloniex, bittrex etc) create a new coin for SWAP.
RIC XVC BTM etc.
We should all join together

My hash rate is 1:10 of network hash, but i cant get more than 150 RIC per day. Is that normal? I use the last wallet

If you're the user I think you are on ublock, you're on track to earn around 360-450/day.

The RIC/day estimation on most pools is orders of magnitude lower than what you will actually earn.

There's really no accurate way to measure hashrate in Riecoin.

My best advice is to look at share rate to determine you're actual mining power, after mining for a few days, you should be able to determine an average coins/day and it should be much higher than the pool estimations.

solo or pool mine?
i get around 300 to 400 coins per day with a hashrate around 155,000.00 KH/s to 240,000.00 KH/s as shown in ublock.it using PttnMe's latest Rieminer
i use the latest wallet as well but i dont think it has to do anything with the hashrate, at least in pool mining.
