Please don't fall for the virus nonsense.

The external miners trigger some antivirus false positives because miners are sometimes included in trojans used for botnets.

The windows wallet was cross-compiled from linux, and I verified that the .exe files downloaded from sourceforge are exactly the same that were generated by my ubuntu. So unless it's a new kind of linux/windows supervirus then it's clean.

If you have your doubts, compile it yourself. That's the beauty of gitian: you can verify the binaries.

I have built the source from scratch and it is all fine.  Stop FUD'ding and get mining.

Gatra, this is bloody hard to mine.  The estimated time to block seems wildly off though, its maybe 10 time longer IMO

Instructions for use for Win 7 please..thanks
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9vokz1vdwo0tdsg/riecoin.zip

zip which includes 64bit miner, start.bat with 2 threads activated (edit for more), riecoin.conf and riecoin-qt

move riecoin.conf to your appdata/riecoin/ folder

start riecoin-qt, wait for synchronization, then run start.bat -> done!

Virustotal shows botnet positive for the miner though which is probably false positive

At this difficulty, I think a price of at least 0.005-0.01 each seems sensible.  They are HARD to mine

32 cores run about 4 hours and only get 1 block orphaned:

You're all idiots, the detached miner is clearly a botnet.

Proof --->> You can change the threads to anything from 1 to infinity and it will still report the same amount of knumbers/s per thread! It's just showing you bigger numbers than the built in miner so you think its better!

On what piece of crap did u generate that "proof" ? It's not true for my i7.

And how come I just found a block with that miner?
Perhaps there are multiple versions going around, care to share the link to yours?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/riecoin/files/cpuminer%20rminerd%203.0.0/rminerd_win64.zip/download

MAYBE CLEAN...

Virustotal scan results: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/5135db3e4ddc8e74d1812abcfc402c5727090c2b18394985e12088e820d28d22/analysis/1392171072/

Virustotal sometimes shows fals positive for any mining software as it typically runs unattended and goes onto network

Well your not wrong here, got a 24 core server mining and set the thread count to 480! Getting same amount per thread as I was when it was at t24. Expected time to find a block within the hour.

Possible reasonable prices can be:
1 RIC @ 0.1 BTC
1 RIC @ 0.05 BTC
1 RIC @ 0.025 BTC
1 RIC @ 0.015 BTC
1 RIC @ 0.01 BTC

What do you prefer?

Realistically more like 0.001 to 0.01 BTC (look at Vertcoin).

But I would be happy with 0.1 BTC once the 35 RIE I just mined with my i7 mature.  Grin

Vertcoin had a huge instamine that no one talks about.

The supply of RIC is a lot lower.

However, I'd guess that same as you .001 or so short term.

I would also be quite happy with .1 Smiley

I must be going crazy... I had this working on one machine, then think I screwed it up and have tried on 2 fresh installs and I get same result. How do I figure out what is wrong?

I got the linux-64.zip file and the rminerd_linux_x86_64.tar.gz from the official places

I unzipped them both. Created the conf as listed on page 30.. Changed password, and username (nothing else)

When starting ./rminerd -o localhost:28332 -u matchconf -p matchpconf

I get

[2014-02-12 01:52:06] HTTP request failed: The requested URL returned error: 500 Internal Server Error
[2014-02-12 01:52:06] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

riecoind is running and I get this:

./riecoind getinfo
{
    "version" : 80600,
    "protocolversion" : 10070001,
    "walletversion" : 60000,

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Looks like your client isnt sync'd yet - you'll get 500 errors until it does.

no connections, your wallet isn't synced up with the network that's why the RPC server is giving you a 500 error
