Hi all

is there an optimum block size for staking?

Hi pescadorloco69.

Age is more important than size of the blocks for the staking amount. You could send all the coins to one address to increase the size but, the trade off of losing all the acquired age you might already have is a decision you will have to make. I know not of an optimal size but only that larger is better but, again, less important than age.

Unless you just recently acquired your Sterlingcoin, your best bet might be to retain your age.  That said, I do not know the present size you are talking about. If you have extremely many of small sizes, you will want to consider that also.

Mind you that all of this only plays into the frequency of payments. More age and to a lesser degree more size, and subsequently weight, only means you will get payments more frequently. But the payments, frequent or not, will always total 5.5 % annual.

I hope that helps you reach a decision pescadorloco69.

Hi all,

I have been away for a few months and I am getting round to updating my SLG wallet.

I deleted everything from my ROAMING folder except the wallet.dat.

I installed the latest Windows wallet from the OP and it installed fine. On first start it shutdown but a restart was fine.

I can see all my transactions in the list but the wallet is NOT syncing.

I allowed it through the firewall but no joy. I have restarted it a couple of times and left it running for a while but still NO connections.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks.

Welcome back then!

sterlingcoin.conf

Code:
listen=1
188.166.152.255:1141
86.21.47.186:1141
74.5.137.87:1141
2.219.81.255:1141

Those nodes have /Sterlingcoin:1.5.1.1/ with the correct block height and are using the 'default' port. 1st listed address is a static node. Other 3 could be rotational.

Cheers!

Thanks. Problem solved.
I had a capital "S" at the start of the CONF file - instead of "sterlingcoin" I had "Sterlingcoin"
D'oh!
Wallet syncing now, I will be happy to be back staking again Smiley

Yes, it is case-sensitive, as you have found.

Happy to have you back and, happy staking! Smiley

How is the fundraising going for the Cryptopia tip-slot?

Only at 50k DOT of the needed 500k DOT. I received my electric bill and Shocked had to turn the scrypt asic off. Now that it is getting much colder, I can justify firing up this space heater more often. I will dust it off. Unfortunately, the difficulty looks to be about the same as it was and does not reflect the decreased price that is ~15 sat per DOT down from ~30 sat the last time we spoke of this topic.

Please see this post to donate by DOT, BTC, or hashes. Please notify me if you opt for the BTC donation method as the mentioned BTC address is of my Cryptopia wallet and I would not be alerted to start watching the market and buying DOT on the low on your behalf.

Thank you in advance for any contributions as we try to gain tipping on Cryptopia for Sterlingcoin.

Now 73k DOT. Slow but steady. Wink

With Cryptsy out of the game with their old wallet we have 3 exchanges and a 100% working network. A lot of ppl lost much crypto there. Its sad but now we can move on. This coin needs to be pushed out into the light again. Some PR and improvings. Devs have to tell were they want this coin to go. To much waiting for Cryptsy have made this coin a sleeper.

Well this certainly is a silver lining to the Cryptsy fiasco. I would like to express my sympathy for those of you who lost funds in Cryptsy, both with Sterlingcoin and otherwise. It is a very bad blemish to crypto as a whole and sadly, it spreads more distrust to every corner of an industry already soaking with it. I too lost some BTC, even thought I requested withdrawal many weeks ago. I am sure my lose was tiny compared to others reading this and some of you must be outraged, and rightfully so. I fear this debacle will push many people to similar conclusions of all crypto as Mike Hearn has recently drawn of BTC. I assure you not everyone in this industry is robbing peter to pay paul as Cryptsy was in their dishonest attempt to cover up a compromise and gain ill placed trust of even more investors.

I will meet with Matthew and Spencer and discuss this and see where we can now take Sterlingcoin. I do think any PR is going to have to be "home grown" as we haven't the funds to hire.

Perhaps I can ask the community this, what service do you most miss of the services we previously had? Or what does the community think would make the most beneficial impact given our limited resources of finance?

Cyberdexters' comment in the article about Cryptsy’s disappearance may have opened my eyes:
"I've never believed that Cryptsy did not stake customer PoS coins. I also think that a large number of wallets that were in maintenance for long periods of time (funnily mostly PoS wallets) were handled that way on purpose to benefit from staking those customer coins ala "keep the coins in the system, let them trade all they want but meanwhile we'll stake the hell out of them."

Article: http://bitcoinist.net/cryptsy-has-moved-out-of-their-building-unannounced-nowhere-to-be-found/

May this be the reason why Cryptsy never replied to our requests?

And it keeps getting more suspicious. smh

I'm using the android app Blockfolio to manage my coins. Today I noticed the SLG is added twice in the “Add coin”-list.
-   SterlingCoin: SLG/BTC  (Bittrex & Cryptsy)
-   Sterlingoin: SLG/LTC (Cryptopia)

I have no idea how the Blockfolio api looks like, but could someone with a Cryptopia account confirm that Sterlingcoin is not misspelled at the exchange service, before I send a heads up to the Blockfolio developers.

Btw. Any news about the multipool?

I have confirmed, they do have it spelled correctly on Cryptopia.

I do feel slightly out of bounds speaking of Cystum.net on Matthew's behalf as it is his brain-child. But, I will provide some insight because it has been asked numerous times here. I can tell you: A) Development is moving forward with cystum.net multi pool. B) It still will include Sterlingcoin.
