So far, it sounds like the B's have it.
If we go with option B, can we vote on how quickly to drop the block reward, or has that already been decided?

... for example, I might suggest dropping the block reward by 10 or 20 SLR per day, instead of the 1 or 3 SLR per day that was previously discussed.

I think it's better to stick with -3 per day since that means it will get to 1 in a little over a month, which is around the time when we should be ready for fork #2. We don't want the reward to be sitting at 1 per block for a long time, since we don't really know how quickly price will go up and whether enough miners will be willing to mine at such a low reward for a long time.

I have enough, I'd toss a good 5.2 mh on it even at 1 coin per block reward. Just for kicks. Cheesy

Awesome. Grin And hopefully by that time the coin will be worth several thousand satoshis anyway, unless a bunch of big holders dump coins on the way up (which is possible, but hopefully not too much). I guess we'll find out soon enough, as the consensus is for Option B. So we're gonna go ahead with the two-fork plan. I talked with the developer this evening and we're good to go... probably about a week before fork #1 will happen. So everybody get their rigs ready and mine the hell out of it while you still can. The era of cheap SLR may soon be over.  Wink

I definitely choose Option B also, much better if would be implemented immediately. Great things coming for SLR.  Smiley

I am OK with either option but I do see the value in restricting supply sooner rather than later, so if option B is relatively painless to accomplish, go for it. Smiley

OK here on option B.

I like the idea of being able to buy more coins for cheap, but also it must be considered that:
fewer coins in circulation = higher overall value

Therefore, I vote option B, start reducing the block reward asap.

All good, just have to look at the effort & coordination to role out new source; wallets, pool updates, communication, code testing/delays, etc.

Why block explorer is not working?

Block explorer looks fine to me: http://blockexplorer.solarcoin.org/browse_blocks/SolarCoin

Please DEV update thread, give some news.

BlackCoin v. 2 has been chosen as our new codebase for PoS. Developer has studied it thoroughly and determined that he is confident he can do the job but it will take longer than previously expected. Won't be ready by block 300,000. He's working on it as fast as he can.
Thank you very much. That's real pretty awesome news Smiley

It's good news overall, although the delay is unfortunate.

Here's the deal folks. The developer has said it will probably take something like a month to get all this done. It's a complex process to convert SolarCoin, which is Scrypt-based, to BlackCoin v. 2 codebase which is Sha256d-based, and to make sure all the features we want to keep from SolarCoin's original code are included in the new code. On the other hand, we could have a fork for a block reward reduction done in only one week from now, and then do the switch to PoS as a second fork when the dev is finished with that work.

Everybody, especially miners, please weigh in on which of these you prefer:

A. One fork option. Wait until all of the work is completed and do only one fork, probably about a month from now.
B. Two fork option. Fork in 1 week from now to start the gradual block reward reduction. 2nd fork about a month later for switch to PoS.

We want to make a decision soon, and obviously we need the support of the miners for whatever course of action we take. Thanks.

I think one fork is easier to manage.  Another month is not so bad…it's a little more time to mine and buy a few more coins :-)

Thanks for the update, I was just about to ask. Well, the good news is that we can continue buying more cheap coins, as the dumpers continue to scramble to pay off their miners.
