I paid for the meal in $USD and Joely reimbursed me for her half in §SLR. I think I got the better half of that deal!  Grin

Eric

You most certainly did!  Cheesy We used 350 sats as the exchange rate, so I sent Eric §7000. He doubled his money in just a few days.  Shocked But it was worth every photon to me based on the "value" I assigned to meeting someone like Eric who is of like mind when it comes to our vision for SolarCoin and its future.

How about building a multi pool like Blackcoin's after PoS transition?

It will help both miners and stake holder.

The miners mine most profitable coin and exchange it for SLR. It will place continuous buy order and support price level.

It also utilize current scrypt ASIC machine which is owned by current solar miner.

It defeats the purpose of SLR. The way people should get it is through feed in grants. But you know people, someone will probably go right ahead and build a multipool anyway.

I agree to your point. I love the way SLR granted to generators. That's why I've stick to this coin since January.
However, to promote adoption of Solarcoin in both Photovoltaic industry and Crypto World, maintaining certain price level is crucial. It might be around 1$. I think.

When it comes to PoS, there won't be huge dump like in PoW. But minted interests have a tendency to become sell orders.
I've noticed that a lot of PoS coins shrinking with lack of buy support.
We'd better building dedicated multi pool before PoS transition.
I think that is not option for pure PoS coin. Must have.

Bittrex still has that notice on the SLR trading page that says it "may be removed on Aug 1st unless the average trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.1 BTC." lol. We've been doing several times that volume on Bittrex for a couple weeks now, and nothing happened on August 1. Did they invent a time machine? Tongue

Here is a list of PoS coins freebird

Thanks. We may use Peercoin but there would need to be some modifications such as keeping tx comments and 1 minute block times which are nice features SLR has which PPC doesn't.

I have also asked the dev for his opinion on Blackcoin's codebase, so that's one we're considering.

Great stuff!

Any idea when we will have the fork details set in stone?

I have no idea. I'm not privy to those discussions. I do get some related e-mails but I don't know any significant details that Eric hasn't already shared. I had lunch with Eric this past weekend and got to meet him. We had a fantastic brunch, yapped and chatted for 3 hours. Smiley Anyway, he is in communication with the developer we're using and is on top of the situation. Eric is very good at disseminating the details to us, so once things get nailed down, I expect we'll hear from him. I know who the developer is but I don't know if a firm timeline has been figured out yet other than "a few weeks" and that could mean anything I suppose.

As Joely said, we have a developer ready to do the work, and the only thing yet to be decided is which existing PoS coin to use for our new codebase. Unless we run into some unexpected problems, we're planning to combine the block reward reduction and the transition to PoS into one fork.

As Joely also mentioned, we had a great time meeting for brunch and conversation in Calais, Maine, right across the border from Canada. I actually live in the D.C. area but am up in Maine on vacation. I paid for the meal in $USD and Joely reimbursed me for her half in §SLR. I think I got the better half of that deal!  Grin

It seems that people are hesitant to buy at higher prices while the blockchain is still pumping out 144,000 SLR daily.

Well, the price has doubled in less than a week. I wouldn't expect it to go up faster than that. It takes time for people to get used to a new price range. Maybe when the fork starts, we'll be above 1000 sat. Maybe a few weeks after that, we'll be several thousand sat.

Come on dumpers!! Where did you all go?!?

I just can't imagine a profit miner selling for anything less than 7-800 sats at a 20 difficulty... those bids are gonna have to come up if the difficulty keeps rising like this.

I was thinking along those lines as well ... that is, until I check the coinwarz mining profitability (which I haven't looked at in a couple months). Profitability is awfully low across the board.

I hadn't looked at that in a while either.

yeah, crazy, it makes me want to sell my miner and just use the proceeds to buy coins instead, which I think I'll do.

Its great to see the board so active today.

I also remeber my first 10,000 solarcoins i was so happy lol

Now myself and family have about 6% of the total outstanding solarcoins  in cold storage Cool

I'm pretty much the exact same (approx. 6%).  lol  I gave a bunch to my 2 teenage boys, and they (like me) are sitting tight on them for a long time to come  Cool

As well, I'm another proud Canadian (Ottawa).

Looks like there will not be any significant dumping of this coin because you guys have 12% and I have another 3% which will not be sold for a few years. The community all seem to be in this for the long run.

And I have a little over 3%, which I'm holding ... and I want more, damnit!
