Good to hear Nick!

I do have a few suggestions since you said that the wallet can redirect to any HTML Page... it would be awesome to eventually have Solar companies who are interested in the coin/community host their sales or specials from the wallet so interested parties can see and take advantage of deals (especially those deals made sweeter when you own SLR)

We could also have links present that help those new to the community become more dependent on solar energy in their daily lives. For example, we could have links to websites that help you convert your (home, business, school, ect) and answer general FAQ on solar power.

Finally we could have a donations page setup so we can donate SLR directly to those who have lost power, or those would want to develop power in their respective areas... thus enabling direct funding by the public to pool power-based resources in times of great need.  (much as people tip in BTC now, we could "tip" power to those we deem worthy or in need of it)

Once again just some thoughts... thanks for the updates!

Not to be critical of your thoughts... Why would I want advertising in my wallet, and links that could point to malware. Go from the outside in not the inside out, since people who already know about SLR will have a wallet.

I had suggested a different way instead of just donating SLR but to use Power as a stabilization factor within the economy. Every SLR generated should have to be bought to even be brought to life in the economy. But there are 33 Million slush out there. If a good percent of the 33 Million were used to pay for a Solar Farm that buys at 1MWH pricing and burns any SLR it buys, SLR could sustain whatever power is generated to a small portion of its Merchants. They could be given special Merchant wallets etc. Then this bolsters the Value... not just donate to have someone claim and create less value by selling SLR that they generated with their donated coin. Then to top it off that value never leaves SLR and stays in the economy as a panel in the Farm that only grows as more panels are placed to then generate more purchase/burn power for merchants. I stated this a long time ago but you may not have comprehended it fully. It is what would catapult the coin to 1MWH per SLR.

Any coin that was burned means the price must go high enough to not diminish the supply. Since you burn the sales for this exchange at a set price. Once that price and monetary backing are sold out then no more coin is burned.

We could just have this become an option in the wallet too.  If your roof is at capacity for Solar Generation then you could expand your claim into the Farm by purchasing panels there. It is so simple but would require trust of the Farm to apply the proceeds properly to the market. Then you could buy 1 SLR worth of Panels and if 1000 people did the same that means 1000 MWH just went into production. And it only cost you $120 and you didn't even break a sweat.

Throwing SLR around as donations is not wise...

I'm not at liberty to post the new beta2 link, but we have resolved the forking issue, and implemented the "Reload Blockchain" feature that will cut your syncing time down to ~5 minutes.  Testing is going well now.

Steve

Steve (and others involved) I love the new look of the POST wallet and I cannot wait to see it in action.. thanks for the work you have put in and please keep it up. This SLR coin community needs a strong wallet if it ever wants to take off and become widespread, so what you are working on is likely THE biggest part of SLR to date!!!  Cool

1 question, will the ability to sign up as a claimant (enter data to start claiming) be built in eventually so that anyone who wants to use/claim/store SLR can do so from one place...and so ALL one needs is the wallet to join in on the action?

Just thoughts.. GO SLR!!!

Yes the new wallet needs some graphic updates, but is generally looking good. In terms of your questions, the wallet supports a pointer to any HTML page. We have included a link to the claims section of the solarcoin.org site. so yes claimants can download and submit a claim all in one place.

We are also interested in using the ability to create either viral or community functions within the wallet.  If people have suggestions feel free to put them forward. Alternatively anyone will be able to grab the source code and create their own version of the wallet.

In addition the wallet supports an accelerated blockchain download during initialization which means a roughly 5 minute blockchain sync vs. 12-15 hours.

Hello SolarCoin 2.0 Beta Testers!

This is the developer Nick mentioned, Steve.  I have pulled the current beta to resolve a fork issue.  Please shut down your current betas and wipe the /Users/{name}/AppData/Roaming/SolarCoin folder EXCEPT your wallet.dat (Unless it's a test wallet.)

As soon as the issue is resolved, we will post a new link.  Thanks for your patience, I know it is time consuming to sync the wallets every time, but it is necessary.

Thanks,
Steve

As seen above please tell others to wait for next beta build. thanks.

So far no luck with wallet sync. goes from 93% to 33% then to 93%. Cry   stuck on 290002

With the latest version, I was able to synch on both test wallets, and synch works just fine thereafter. With just few tests, sending to the test wallets works, sending/receiving between test wallets works.

Are you sure you downloaded/installed the latest?

After installing, I did have to go and delete both the database and txleveldb folders from ..\AppData\Roaming\SolarCoin, otherwise the new wallet wouldn't start. Will post the error message in the doc tonight, along with one other specific error I see under specific conditions on shutdown/restart of the wallet.

Steve says the POST Beta issue with block chain syncing is now resolved.

The new beta is at https://www.dropbox.com/s/1bnyatbp2301awq/SolarCoin-2.0b-setup.exe?dl=0

As always, please back up any wallets for installing.  ideally install on a fresh machine.

feel free to put in cosmetic bugs and other suggestions into the google doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XwysiXK9sflUNFZIpNT18zc6nIOdivSpa1uYlUlSVpY/edit?usp=sharing

Anyone got there wallet to fully sync? After a restart (wallet was making no progress but almost done) i had to delete everything and start over because of Error loading blkindex.dat

I got about 27,000 blocks short of a full sync and had the same error. using win7

Here is the lastest from our developer Steve:

Quote
Thanks, Nick.  I should have a new build soon.  The target spacing for PoW was off after block 208440 and I’m testing a new version now.  (Which means re-syncing a new blockchain – so time consuming.)

Addressing some of the chatter:

The new 2.0 will not work with existing 1.5 data.  It needs to build a fresh blockchain.  I would recommend backing up wallet.dat, and do not send or receive in 2.0 until we are sure the protocol is working 100%.

I would shut down the Beta Wallets until the new release to keep the network clean.

I will post a link to the next compile of the wallet once ready.  feel free to put in cosmetic or other suggestions into the google doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XwysiXK9sflUNFZIpNT18zc6nIOdivSpa1uYlUlSVpY/edit?usp=sharing

I installed on 2 machines (no SLR wallets on them before), on one of them (Win7) got a "Runaway exception error" on the first auto-restart (after setting the passphrase). Then on manually starting the wallet the error did not reappear. On the other machine (Vista) this did not happen.

While synching, they are both changing back and forward between 2 different total numbers of blocks - 310671 and 732312. Somehow this seems to be related to the number of connections at the moment (that's a changing number, too). Still synching though...

I do have snapshots, but we may need to wait for the developer to set up a separate forum thread, or any other way we should use to post the observations.

AN UPDATE: another total number just showed up on one - 290005... stuck 4 blocks before the end....
Actually, on both installations it got stuck on block 290001, regardless of the total number showing up.
