Well at least he is not trying to dump on to the market. We will see how long he or she will stay invested.

Pays out in increments. they move to stake row after you receive interest.

If you have about 100k solar you would get about 6 coins a day.

Thanks man Smiley

Give it some time it will stake but depending on your amount of coins that is how long it will take.

Thanks for the reply, are we talking hours, or days? approximately. I realise that it's POST not just POS so time is a factor in  how much is paid as interest. Does it pay out in increments or is it once a week/month/year.

And when do the coins move to the staked row? I've had the wallet running almost all day with nothing happening yet.

Thanks again sorry for the noob questions I can't seem to find the answers using google. Roll Eyes

It takes about 3 days for any amount of coin to stake maybe more. If it is a small amount of coin you will find that it is not really worth it. All the big wallets are gobbling up the benefits of PoST. Small wallets are really not worth staking.

So is it worth doing with 20K ish coins?

If you decide to NOT stake your wallet:
1. You will not get ~2% annual interest on your coins
2. Your wallet will not participate in securing the SLR network.

Thanks!

2% annaul is really low but I guess of the coon performs well its worth it. Very cool idea going green with solar power.

The network of users is poised for interesting things. It is taking longer than we thought, but also becoming more interesting and strange than we ever could have hoped for in a good way.

I like strange, strange is good. Smiley

Making things better with better things.
Partners and initial think tank members are now listed on the solarcoin.org homepage.
www.solarcoin.org

Hazel Henderson has joined the solarcoin think tank. http://solarcoin.org/en/welcome-hazel-henderson-ethical-markets/

She is an interesting deep thinker and well connected. I finally got to meet her in person at a http://web.unep.org/inquiry in NYC a few weeks back where I presented SolarCoin to the group which including Sr members from the  IMF World Bank Rockefeller Foundation etc. It was well recieved and we look forward to future discussions. These things take time, measured in months and years.

the electricchain.org website is getting a facelift.  www.electricchain.org

version 2.1.2 of solarcoin is going to be released soon, it is small changes. Now supports GUI import private key function. One has to select staking and then un-check the box.  feel free to test the pre-release.  http://solarcoin.org/downloads/   give feedback on this forum or on the site form.

More going on under the hood with solar partners in europe, asia, space launches, technology & strategy etc. Francois Sonnet continues to deliver great relationships in Europe, SolarChange is delivering new features and in deep strategic discusssions with IBM among others.

The network of users is poised for interesting things. It is taking longer than we thought, but also becoming more interesting and strange than we ever could have hoped for in a good way.

Releases and notifications as soon as things are confirmed and locked up.

Came across this article about Perovskites that I thought i'd share. The future is bright, the future is solar.!!

https://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2015/dec/18/game-changing-perovskite-solar-tech-could-be-cheaper-and-more-efficient

“When you start to do the bill of materials analysis, you start to work out that the contacts are just a couple of dollars per square metre in terms of active material costs, which is spectacularly low. So, the panel costs half or less compared to traditional panels.”
Perovskites can also be chemically fine–tuned to change colour and transparency, and they can also be manufactured directly onto other structures, making them attractive for those wanting to integrate solar PV into buildings. For example, solar panels could be placed directly onto glass facades and roller-coated materials, like roofing steel, at the point of manufacture. This could potentially mean greater uptake in solar on large commercial structures, like warehouses. They could also be potentially integrated into energy harvesting and storage systems for household generators.
“Most [solar panels] have to be fitted onto buildings after the fact, which incur extra costs in materials and labour”, Milliken says.
“Perovskites therefore have an extra arrow in the quiver for future expansion opportunities and for achieving things like zero net energy buildings, which will require something like this technology to be integrated into building envelopes.

Its for you to decide if its worth it. You would probably get like 0.5 to 1 SLR a day. I think thats a good start Wink

Yeah that's cool with me I'm more than happy to keep staking, I mined and bought coins back in 2014 I believe in solarcoin I love renewable energy and sustainable living so fits with me very well and I want to support the network and make some coin in the process. Smiley

I'm assuming that like solo POW mining if I have to shutdown or restart the computer I start from the beginning or is it cumulative?

It's based on coin age. If you say didn't run your wallet for quite some time, it would find a block within minutes.

Turning off the wallet defeats the point of securing the network so it shouldn't count that time but I think it still allows this to happen.

But it does take a while for the first Stake, 3 days or so and I think it has to be on the network at that point. You can be assured that the big wallets are protecting the network if you don't think the payout is enough Smiley

Yeah I meant in the events of updates and moments the computer has to be restarted. But it's cool already got my first coins woke up this morning less than 24 hours after starting the process to see. and that's only from 9000 coins currently being staked Smiley

20k is a fair amount to stake with. It always takes a few days to build "coin age" before you receive your first staking reward ie. find a block.
