im proud to announce that my tattoo shop, thINK tattoo studio, in sydney, nova scotia is officially accepting tattoocoin as a means of payment for services. ive been working with jewelettes and tattoodev over the last week, hammering out the details. we arent a large scale tattoo parlour, but we put thru an average of ten to fifteen customers a week, and i spend a LOT of time working on the custom work. i do believe that this is really only the beginning for this project reaching wide scale real-world acceptance. ive been involved in cryptocurrency for several years, and am one of the lead developers of SOILcoin, so i truly appreciate the innovations that this development team is pursuing, especially the dual-currency blockchain. that opens up the door to a thousand possibilities down the road, not only for TATO but in other corners of the altcoin ecosystem.
ive been tattooing professionally for about 7 years, after going thru an apprenticeship through an old army buddy, first in windsor, nova scotia and then presently in sydney, nova scotia. jewelettes, part of the tattoo team, wanted me to post some pictures for the "tattoocoin accepted here" sign in the shop window, some examples of ink we've done here over the past.
as a shop owner, as well as a cryptocurrency enthusiast, i was quite excited by the project when i first came across it. not only is it proof of stake, which for someone with a crappy oldish computer like mine, is the way to go, but it brought in to the sphere my dayjob. with the project im involved with, the challenge has long been to find ways to make it something of value in the real world, and im sure that in many instances, getting other shop owners to accept tattoocoin is going to be an uphill battle, but ill be doing whatever i can in talking with my customers and with other shop owners to introduce them to the idea.
one of the ways ive been bringing it up is describing buying tattoocoin like having a savings account for your ink. i had a client in last week, put down a deposit on a full upper arm, and was wondering if she could push the appointment date for the work another month back so shed be able to put aside enough to pay for the whole thing on the day its done. naturally, a bill had come up and robbing peter to pay paul, she took 60 bucks out of the tattoo-jar. she'd been putting in 50 bucks from every paycheque, plus some of her tips but... i walked her through the diea of tattoocoin, describing it as a savings account with REALLY GOOD INTEREST. how not only does her balance grow just by leaving it in there, the underlying value of the currency itself was likely to grow because of the work being done by the team behind the project. she was gonna come back this week and get me to help her through buying her first bitcoin (which is really the stumbling block against adoption of crypto as a whole) and buying tattoocoin with it, setting up a wallet on her laptop, etc.
im directing clients to poswallet as well, theyre putting so much work into that project that i believe its going to stick around for a long time. makes it super easy for them to make the transfer from their TATO wallet to mine that way as well. it will be nice when an android (and apple as well) wallet is built. ive had the DISpleasure trying to build SOILs android wallet, which only works on older phones like my sons huawaiia phone, and workd perfect, but wont do a damn thing on more up to date devices. first foray in, i was just glad it sorta worked, so i have the utmost respect for whom builds tattoocoin's android wallet.
one thing ive been planning to do with the first shop bounty that jewellettes and tattoodev have agreed to is to build out some paper (cold) wallets, filled with 5 bucks or 10 bucks or so, to use as promotional material (like a coupon i suppose) and bring in new customers, or even to provide as an ersatz gift card. once ive got them built out (ive set up the layout so that another shop can simply take thINKs logo out and have theirs displayed along the top fold. (makes a face) wonder if theres an origami crane paper wallet layout out there somewhere?
anyhow, a few photos, as dev requested. want to say thanks for getting this project on the go, for providing a bridge between two of my worlds, and i hope that thINK studios and tattoocoin have a long a mutually beneficial future together.

http://imgur.com/a/65WTY closeup showing the tattoocoin accepted here sign. the mail lady asked about that this afternoon, but got that "nerd glaze alert" look in her eyes as soon as i mentioned digital currency. she's been talking about getting a tattoo for a few weeks though, so i mentioned how using tattoocoin would be cheaper because to promote its use im offering to honour 25% above its valuation at time of sale for purchases made with tattoocoin. (laughs) shoulda mentioned that above too i suppose
http://imgur.com/a/TA8Ofour tattoo space. this is a dedicated area off the back of the house, it actually does have its own entrance, but no one uses it except to let the dog out inthe evening. overall, twelve foot by ten for room. ive got a fold-down chair that was meant as a massage chair sorta thing that we use for backs and lgs and whatnots, but its a pain in the ass to maneuver around normally. we're planning on expanding the shop space to the whole of the first floor of the building, but slow renos have made that a waiting game. fun note: i love the imgur random page name generated for this.
