Quick question.... Do i need to update my wallet.dat every time new coins are added?

not sure what you do mean.

wallet.dat is wallet.dat it is your walletadress.

You synced your wallet"programm" successfully so you should be on the right block right now.
That means you used your wallet as always but do not move entire coins yet because who knows what can happen.
Test with small amount first Smiley.

No the back up will still work for a number transaction after saving the wallet.dat. It's a good idea after doing a few transaction to reback it up though if your balance changed by much.

Quick question.... Do i need to update my wallet.dat every time new coins are added?

This is the second time I downloaded and installed v1.3.3, Itdoes not sync and shows up as v1.3.2.0-g32a928e in the About Vericoin tab.
Both times I deleted the entire contents of Vericoin appdata except .dat file. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to add to Console?

go to your C drive

program files (x86) (yours may be diff)

Get rid of your vericoin contents here. Also, What I did that worked. Take your wallet.dat file and back it up off your computer. erase anything vericoin related to the wallet, download a fresh new wallet and then when its done. I took my .dat file and imported it into the new one and took out old wallet.dat file.

That worked for me.

Also a pc I had with no vericoin wallet sync'd right up.

Still no luck for me either.  I'm gonna try this, but first I have a question.

Could the reason my wallet isn't syncing be because, foolishly, I had mintpal send me coins after the theft and before the fork.  My first reaction was to get my coins off mintpal and immediately I realized it was a bad decision so I made a cancellation claim. However, when I downloaded the first wallet the devs released early yesterday, the coins from mintpal made it to my wallet.  My wallet would sync and then unsync with like 1000 blocks or something like that.  I received an email from Mintpal saying the coins didn't go through, but they're in my wallet that still won't sync after downloading the mot recent update.  Now i never sync and my wallet toggles between 44 blocks and 448 blocks. Could these phantom coins from mintpal be hanging up this process since the network doesn't recognize them?  I hope this makes sense

HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Finally......, I'm part of the network once again!!!  My neighbors probably think I've gone insane with all the noise I've made trying to sync up.  Really was starting to think nearly 30k coins were lost in space. I'm sooooo relieved to be back. Thanks to all who offered solutions.  My problem was i never actually "uninstalled" from control panel.  I was only deleting files from my user/library/application/vericoin folder.  Holy smokes, feels golden!!

My old wallet synchs just fine, do I still need to update my wallet, or reindex?

Edit: guess I have to update, block height is incorrect compared to http://chainz.cryptoid.info/vrc/.

You need to update. The old clients are not able to connect to the new network due to a hard fork.

Thanks. Updating now.

Dear developers:
we're all standing behind the POS concept which makes much more sense to this community than other approaches. I believe there's a great opportunity window to break free from the rest of the coins and make Vericoin really one-a-kind. I'd like to propose new features which would reinforce the unique nature of a stake-based community like Vericoin. It'd be great if we could have:
1) Stake proportional voting system integrated to the wallet. Controversial matters could be voted by coin owners that are staking at the time of the vote
2) Stake-proven forum where only coin owners who are staking would be able to post
Please take a time to evaluate these proposals.

Philosophical or not no way I'd touch a PoS with 30% of the supply being held on an exchange wallet. That's not a secure network. That's not fud. Learn how PoS secures a blockchain then tell me you're comfortable storing value on that network.

That much of the coin supply at one exchange tells the whole story. Most people holding VRC are speculating/day trading and aren't helping secure the network. A large portion of the coins aren't staking securing the network or if mintpal was staking that's a huge central point of failure since the coins would be in an hot wallet.

This is in particular is a technical issue not philosophical

It doesn't matter anymore this philosophical debate is pointless.  Whether you love this coin or hate it, it's going to the moon. So either buy or jump on the next coin train there are countless options.

I'm championing "decentralization" which the devs of this coin are giving a bad name for by lying and continually misusing the word. A DECENTRALIZED CURRENCY THAT ONLY HAS CENTRALIZED SERVICES THAT ARE CLOSED SOURCE BEING REPRESENTED AS DECENTRALIZED IS ESSENTIALLY A SCAM

Thanks for the info.

Unless I'm mistaken VRC is both Highly Centralized and Decentralized.
Just depends which way you want to use it at any given time.
That's the Beauty of it.

I don't condone any names because we are vericoin.

But paypal requires a bank account no? Perhaps that is why
You just need a credit or debit card if you want to pay someone via Paypal.  For example, "Paypal Now" was created to compete with Square, both which accepts credit card payments with the simple swipe of your credit or debit card.
