Was there an Elastic ICO? If so, when and how will investors receive the coins? Is it possible to buy some by now from the initial investors?

I can entirely understand that you feel excited about this wonderful and outstanding once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity project and that you therefore (in your hurry) skipped reading the last pages. And I totally agree that tentativeness can be a bitch. But luckily I can reassure you that there never was an ICO and as a consequence there are no investors whatsoever. And even if that means, that you cannot buy XEL from any investor (due to the lack thereof) you will be still able to get some if you ask someone politely.

With a light wallet and OTC trading we'd see some good distribution of XEL prior to exchanges. Is there any plan to have a development fund or foundation that supporters can donate too? Seems like 5% from people would help.

Quick update...I've been overhauling the ElasticPL engine in order to incorporate a few suggestions for additional functionality and to correct the memory issue.  I have written down some notes about the ElasticPL language and how it works and posted on my github.

        https://github.com/sprocket-fpga/xel_miner/blob/master/ElasticPL/ElasticPL%20Language%20Notes.txt

I have a POC working that can perform what is listed in the notes above, but it will still be several weeks away before my changes are final...I'm only working on this in my spare time, which is fairly limited.  But I figured I share this here in case anyone sees any glaring issues.  Rewritting this engine is very difficult and time consuming so I'd like to get all the fixes in at one time.

Just to be clear...these are just the changes to ElasticPL...there is still a ton of work to be done on the rest of the components.

Thanks Coralreefer.  I'll check through your notes and see what could be useful to put up on the website.

To those who may just have come back to the project, there is a vote taking place on whether to launch a lite-wallet (mainnet) now or wait for a Minimum Viable Product to be available.

I can write some of the pros and cons, but I must state that I am pro lite-wallet, so hopefully someone against the issue will elaborate on the cons.

Pro:
  • This will give devs, testers and PR people an opportunity to hold a financial stake in the project, by buying up some of the XEL that will be released onto the exchanges.
  • As a Minimum Viable Project (MVP) may be many months away, now is the time to give the project a boost.
  • We will have the funds to set up a foundation and pay for work done on the project, development, PR, website, etc.
  • The burden on EK will be lifted, as he will have more help.
  • Releasing now will mean that we have more likelihood of attracting the type of people we want, since the main source of how far along we are is in Github and only IT Pros will know how to read the code and see for themselves what we've got.

Cons:
  • There are concerns that XEL will just end up being a pump and dump opportunity.
  • Not having a MVP and releasing now will take the wind out of the sails of the project for when we do have a MVP

Edit:  The voting ends on 23rd May.  You need your wallet signature (that you used to donate to the project with) to vote.

Bringing this up through the thread just to make sure those checking in at the weekend know what's going on.

I'd prefer to give more time to development and launch with most possible functionality, so I voted against light wallet. Unfortunately I don't have that much voting Power...

Just noticed there is a voting for lite wallet... I assume light wallet is a pure money transfer functionality, nothing else, right..?

Hmm... I really hoped this project will indeed be launched with at least *some* computing functionality, so it could have an edge over the SONM and the likes. But alas it looks like we are still as far from that goal as we were 3-4 months ago. Its like a horizon - moving back as soon as you are moving forward...

I cannot tell I really like what is going on, but looks like there is no other choice - if left as it is, I believe this project will join the list of 'forever developing, but never ready' products. On my experience, anything driven purely by passionate developers joins that list. There should be a manager (or better to tell - genuinely interested and goal-oriented person), to actually reach some state where the Project produces the Product. I might be wrong, or you may think I am wrong, but that is something I observe very often.

I hope releasing a light wallet and the mainnet will give it new momentum. So looks like I am going to vote for light wallet too - though its not not the ideal solution, but looks to be the *only* realistic one (kinda lesser of two evils).

Best statement that I've read in a while here. Very concise. I agree 100%

If this litewallet thing happens I suspect that people will be selling at stupidly low prices and I will be happy to scoop some up.  I want at least 1m.
I wont sell under 1$ / XEL

wanted to write this yesterday too be prepared for fud before and after the possible lightwallet vote/release.
stay cool safe and always see the bigger picture in this super exciting project:)

This project sounds interesting . I see some supercomputer projects in this forum such as Golem, SONM .
I'm confused which one is worth investing at this time?

elastic is the best one.

Why is the project website http://www.elastic-project.com/ offline?

This is the latest iteration of the site:
http://www.elastic.pw/

This is an open source project so many have chipped in with the web part. It is ever evolving. Feel free to help out.

Note we have many other forms of communication. The other forum site is particularly helpful. I'll try to list everything when I have time. I have to go right now.

Our developers, who are awesome, are much further ahead as far as development. We do not have a public coin or any other way to invest, yet. That may soon change, as a vote for a lite-wallet for trading is happening now.

I think this is a great horse. Patience is key here. We are hoping that a lite-wallet will add-up in many areas, including attracting even more devs. Spread the word.
