Did that update. I can not set fanspeed

Yep you can't set fan speed. However, you can see current fan speed after the update.

you CAN set fan speed. there is an easy and a permanent way by using SSH.
Here is the Easy Way
1.
Use FireFox Browser or Safari if you have a MAC
go to the D3 Miner Configuration/General Settings, screen
Use the inspector to find #fan_control
change "display:none" to "display"

Once that is changed, it will display that Fan option and you can easily change the setting to whatever you want.
I changed mine to 55%
My fans are running at 3960, and my temps are 36-40.
I could have easily gone lower, but my fans are so much quieter now that I don't need to. Even after rebooting, my fan settings stay.

i didn't post the permanent way because I don't want to be responsible for anyone bricking their unit if they aren't familiar with SSH

What about overclocking? I tried overclocking but overclock settings don't apply for some reason.

Hi Guys, I have a B3 as well. I am glad that it has a new firmware and we can set the fanspeed....

Did I miss that? Where can I set that?

Hi Guys, I have a B3 as well. I am glad that it has a new firmware and we can set the fanspeed. But it is a fact, that the fan is way more than it needed. About the Artic Cooling Fan. Its not a good choice as it has only 53 CFM arflow, which is way too low for any Antminer. The original fans has 200 CFM or more, depend on the antminer model.

As the B3 ha only 2 boards and they using a low frequency, you can use a Cooler Master Jetflo 120 which has 120 CFM and relatively cheap. I used it on one of my older BTC asic.

Have use the file on bitcointalk after my update all its discarded , be careful with this file , because my b2 2hour run but no profit on ant pool , i hope you have control you hashrate with your pool

I had the same issue. What I did to fix it is switch the main pool from (stratum-btm.antpool.com:6666) to (stratum-btm.antpool.com:443).

thanks for your reply

seems their website is flooded  Embarrassed - anyone willing to put the firmware on a mirror fileshare ? thx

I think first the upgrade and then the update

10BTM for the first one posting a mirror link Tongue

here you go guys

How did you modify your fan speeds to 55%?

So I also swapped the fans to Arctic F12 PWM. Got it quite silent. However my temps went to 55 PCB and 72 chip. I tried to find out what the max is for B3 but haven't found it anywhere, only other miners. Any info on that? Got temps down to 49/66 with some more ventilation.

Well, in my experience (as an electronics engineer), most processors can comfortably handle much higher temperatures, although sometimes other issues such as solder fatigue can develop over time at extreme temperatures, especially if temperatures fluctuate greatly. However, at temperatures below about 80 degrees C, it's unlikely that there will be any such issues, not unless build quality is very poor.

It appears that the hashing chips used in the Antminer B3 are Sophon BM1680 neural processors:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/the-inside-of-antminer-b3s-3870665

https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/bitmain/sophon/bm1680

Datasheet:
https://www.sophon.ai/drive/view.html?id=21

The datasheet states:
Quote
Operating temperature: 0~125°C

I wouldn't recommend running the BM1680 anywhere near the upper temperature limit, due to the strain that may put on solder joints and surrounding components but, in my opinion, I would say it's unlikely any damage would result from continuously running it at temperatures below about 80 degrees C.

I agree. The units come with great fans. no need to put inferior fans on it.
I now have mine running at 55% fan speed with temps 34-39

...

I did it the other way round now. Like listed on page. First firmware, then fix. Works too. But changing the frequency would be a good improvement too.
