2 identical and parallel loops with 1 common ''radiator'' and one of the pumps is so fuckin' bad!!!
the good pump pumps liquid the other way in the bad one!!!

I have had a c1 since January.

Over the last week I noticed a slight drip in the coolant....how did I notice it?  the c1 sits on some white pine wood and now there is a shad of purple in it.  I couldn't see where it was dripping from at all.

Step ahead to this morning.....

I saw that two of the hashing boards were off line.

I checked the coolant and the pump was very low, the deep purple color was nearly clear too. I immediately shut down the unit.  Took the cover off but still didn't see any purple inside the unit at all.

I left the c1 off for a few hours.....added coolant back in, got all the air bubbles out of the lines and its been running fine since.  The cover is still off and the c1 is sitting on paper towel so that I can see where the coolant is coming from.  ....though four hours later the leak is no where to be found.

Thoughts from the crowd?

Oh I did want to ask....does the coolant need to be changed out every few months - like oil in a car?

Thank you.

A less expensive pump, same manufacturer, gave me trouble with a crack along the interface of the top and bottom which I fixed with epoxy.  Then it still leaked but along an invisible crack on a side seam of one of the port tubes.  That one was difficult to seal.  Hot/warm water, slow leak, evaporated without evidence for quite a while but I knew it was leaking because I had to refill the tank.  It was that seam on the port tube to which one attaches a hose that was leaking.  Perhaps a strain on the hose while moving the miner triggered it.  Once fixed it was okay and has been running for months no leak.  I have a new pump just sitting here but since the leak was fixed I haven't wanted to shut down to swap out the pumps.  I use distilled water.

My original pumps both died within day's of turning on my batch 1 C1's.  I bought 2 of these pumps from ebay and have not had any issues: http://www.ebay.com/itm/381066536924

I also got a molex to fan adapter as it keeps fan's going as long as psu is on.   I am not counting on any wiring from syscooling at this point.

Did you see where it's coming out?  It's losing it somewhere it sounds like.  I would look at pump first as they have a bad reputation with breaking.

Evaporation happens over time, but a huge loss sounds like it could be leaking.   I suggest putting it somewhere if liquid is leaked it won't hurt other miners or other things.  Also you might put paper towel under it to see if you  can find leak.  If you cant find it outside open it up.  Worst case is it's inside the miner.

Okay...even worse now. The fan on my miner never turns off and there is a red light near the ethernet connector. Can anyway give me a stock C1.img or a network.conf with DHCP? ASAP

It seems deliberate as if to dissuade.

And no, simply flashing the card wouldn't give me the fix I need.  It would be in the .1.0 network after flashing the card unless you have an idea how to reset the 192.168.1.99 to another subnet on the card before it goes in the machine.

So, no.  Holding the reset for 90 seconds brings it to that, 192.168.1.99,  state.

The S5's wake up to DHCP so subnets are not a problem.  But water cooled has lower temps than hard fan like the S5.

My C1 image with DHCP setting

www.perearstike.ee/C1/C1first.zip

You can use it.

Another one here if anyone needs it, quite an old firmware so will need updating.

/BlhRdE]SD image in case of corruption. | That image is set to DHCP so visit your router to find the IP assigned.

Wow...I know I shouldn't have said even worse...now the fluid tube into my miner exploded...it wasn't even mining! Just sitting idle!!! With fans on...

Please take pictures.  Did it come unclamped and go out?  Or truly explode?

Were you using water or coolant?  Temps? More details please.

It was above 94° in my backyard shade yesterday so I dialed up the C1s' pump/fans power supply to 12.45vdc, perhaps higher.  Some time in the middle of the night the supply failed.  This morning one C1 was running one not, the one running had a highest temp of 80°C.  The two C1's are in series cooling.  Shut them down, swapped out the supply, and they are both up and running normal speed and temps.  They've only been  up 9 minutes so it might be too early to tell if they're both okay but looking good.

Do you have only one radiator for two miners? I don't understand how you can hit 80C.

How do you change the voltage? (12.45v)
Two C1's, cooling in series like this:
C1#1 -> radiator -> pump -> C1#2 -> radiator -> pump -> C1#1.
Pumps and radiator fans on a single separate adjustable power supply which failed.

I realize an improvement would be two supplies, each with half the fan/pump load with the C1's still in series.  That would provide a failsafe on either pump, or either fan/pump supply.

It would mean some fans from each radiator.  As it is I have a car AC condenser after C1#1 before the pump to C1#2 and had a single 3 fan radiator after C1#2 and before the pump to C1#1.  I got in a second 3 fan radiator and since the car condenser was cooling more effectively than the single 3 fan radiator, I put the two 3 fan radiators back to back in series before the pump to C1#1.  I'm thinking of adding fans from my shut down Saturn to the condenser.  So if I go to two supplies driving my C1s' cooling this summer, I could have one of  the two 3 fan radiators and the additional fans going on the condenser and one pump to one supply and the rest to the other.  Point being if the fan load on each weren't split and one supply dies then one C1 would be getting hot distilled water from the other albeit after passing thru a radiator or condenser.

It hit 90 here today... I was fine alllll night

then this morning at 6am I boiled over, my pressure in the blocks was SO HIGH the plugs on the end of the taps were leaking.... WHOOPS.....

Make sure you're adjusting the water level/pressure in that bad boy with summer coming... Boyles law and so on...

I had a couple extra sets of these, and they work great:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007RESFYK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition Twin Pack Fan (CO-9050008-WW)

Most of the ones I used were very cheap or free after rebate fans.  They worked fine as long as noise is not a issue.

SP120s are overkill for a C1, especially for back side fans. I also used cheap and cheap fans on the back side and it really reduced temperatures. That unit was being fed very warm air in though so those with normal ambient might not see any drop.

I feel good that I'm not alone then on having good luck with just regular fan's.

Tiger direct use to do free fans after rebate all the time.  I did that and risked some cash, but eventually got rebates.   It's a YMMV thing, but it's paid off having just some cheap fans when I need it.

Yeah those temps are a little high!

It was hot in my office yesterday and the miner still only got to 45.

HIGHLY recommend adding fans to the other side of the radiator to help cool it. I did that to mine and temps stay around 40 when room temps are normal.

Ecnad is definitely right that is high temps to run.  Not horrible, but high.

If you add decent fan's on other side you will get a significant improvement on temp.   You also could replace stock fans as they are nothing special,  just cheap fans with that kit.  So if you could get a deal on 6 with high RPM's you chances are would be set.

what do you specifically suggest for fan for the other side?

I didn't use anything special I threw some 2000 RPM fans I had laying in my parts.

I did use this adapter to got from molex straight to 3 pin adapters - http://www.amazon.com/Phobya-4-Pin-3-Pin-Splitter-Connection/dp/B007S3T4O0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1431486775&sr=8-4&keywords=3+pin+fan+splitter

Works great for me.

My mistake, both were down according to the pool.  Perhaps a board hit 80°, hashing stopped but the recorded temp remained?

Most likely you would know in around 30 minutes or so if they go to lower hash when running.

I am not sure series is the way I would go. I still like mine separated.  But hitting 80 C is horrible for a miner, we are talking very very bad.  If you have this happening you should watch closely, and possibly add some kind of cooling or fans.
