Guys what is the best way to clean the thermal paste without wasting too much time?
I just received 6 out of the 9 I ordered and just opened one of them = thermal paste all over the place.

Also for some reason the driver didn't ask for any money. Maybe when they deliver the remaining 3 he will ask?

The PSUs are coming tomorrow  Angry

Pop down to Maplins and get some "Switch cleaner" its the best thing for cleaning computer components, I've been using it for over 10 years to clean TIM and other crap off electrical equipment. Comes in an aerosol can.

Cheers for the tip - I reserved some PSUs at Maplin anyway, so will grab the cleaner too.
So the 1st Ant is hashing away at 180.48GH/s with temps below 40 and 350W at the wall.
I see 2 green lights rapidly blinking on both boards, but I assume that is OK.

What I want to know is can I just plug an WiFi antenna in the plug near the fan and connect it wirelessly to my network? How does the Wi-Fi functionality works without buying extra equipment as mentioned in the guide?

I ran it w/o an antenna but my AP is less than 10 meters away. Actually have 3 units connected to my wifi as well as the wired. Not sure if I see any degraded performance or more stales/dropped shares.

Do not pay attention to it. Most probably it is non conductive. It is not good for the boards, but you can ignore it and move on with mining  Smiley

Most probably is not good enough  Wink cause it might be conductive.
I will clean it anyway as it will be a mess to touch it.

I have the Arctic Silver ArctiClean Thermal Material Remover & Surface Purifier 60ml Kit, but these are small bottles  Undecided

I just used a plain paper towl, it wipes right off easily enough.

those pics indicate months of use, and they did say units are new and only seen days of use.  we should all support the member as right is right.  hopefully Bitmain takes care of the issure, which i think they will but I also thing they might not if people are so indifferent.  I dont want a used machine, and no one wants a heavily used machine which might die too soon...

What version number do you have written on this AntMiner? I have several (from 3 different revisions) and all of them have been pristine clean.

see photo

I feel sorry for your troubles, my unit just arrived (of the same batch as yours) and I was dreading to open the box, but when inspecting it I found it to be very clean like the others received + doesn't have any visible dust in the heatsinks.

There are probably multiple employees working in their assembly line, out of which at least someone seems to be much less careful than others (at least with the issue of overusing thermal paste in the backplane).

Could it be that they've taken the base (frame+heatsink) from a thoroughly used unit, as it seems impossible for such amount of dust to gather up on a board manufactured only in 12/2013. The board itself looks like new (not like an older revision faked as new).

BITMAIN, any comment?

I just tried to OC two of the ones that came this morning, and both died after the reboot.

Putty connected OK
Changed values in asic-freq as usual
reboot via web interface.
Units reboots and starts beeping.

Cannot connect via web or putty, had to hold reset button and restart unit to default ip.  Hope I can get it up and running Sad

I have many others that worked fine,  I think the Firmware may be different !!!!

Further testing seems to show that the ones that will run overclocked are cgminer v 3.4.3-1 and the ones that came today are 3.8.5-1

Anyone else got any experiences like this?

Ne1 had trouble with costumes asking for more details about the equipment?

My 6x S1 are being held by costumes and they called me asking if the manufacturer didn't provide some sort of technical statement about the purpose of the machines...
They said they weren't sure about the purpose of them thus not being able to tax them accordingly...

PM sent to BITMAIN about the subject...

Any other help would be great.

Hi
Whats the procedure to get an RMA ?
I have received my latest antminer after its holiday in india and have a bank not working on blade 2.
I have checked the wiring etc but can see nothing and the far right bank reg /chips stay cold so i assume its a dead voltage reg

Thenks

Have you tried a reset or 2? I had a few blades with apparent bad chips, and most of the time it was resolved with either serially rebooting, or turned out to be a bad PSU.

What PSU are you using?

I am wondering if there will be a price drop on the Feb.8 orders. We should be seeing a 20% increase in the diff before then.

Big thanks to Bitmaintech for winning at the hardware game. Any chance of putting out a miner that can compete with all the next-gen hardware rolling out in the next few months?
Also how about getting your hands on some gridseed chips and putting out a scrypt-asic? I have money in hand and  a truck to back up.

I used contact cleaner on mine.  Gave it a spray, used some tissues to wipe off the paste, and finished with a can of compressed air to blow off any loose bits.

It was all over the place on 2 of my miners.  Every time I touched my antminer I had thermal paste on my hands.

Customs just put a hold on my delivery. It said delivery by the end of the day, then updated with "held in warehouse". I was informed that the packages would be delivered as soon as customs release it, probably another couple of days? What is the declared value on these packages?

Anyone that received their miners that could advice on declared value?
I can't see where the declared value written,
but info from BITMAIN, it's 120 USD

Thanks, exactly what I needed to know  Smiley

Just got the package. No visible crap on it, just slightly dusty, in line with Bitmain explanation.
