Just upgraded one of my miners, and get the following error at the top of the miner configuration tab.

How can I know what batch I have? Stupid question but I can't find it nowhere.. I bought it second hand.

B8 and so on has a sticker on it that says S3+.  I'm really unsure prior to b8, it would be nice to know as well.

S3+, which means S3 B8 and the following batches, has a faster hashing speed, 453Gh/s than the one from the previous batches, which hash at rated 440Gh/s.

So I did a little testing and want to post the results I got (if anyone wants to put it into an easy to read graph that would be great).
So I measured the voltage out of the wall socket at 118v which goes to my 3,000 watt step up voltage converter/transformer.  Out of the step up converter/transformer it measures 230v.  I've got my

Why not run a dedicated 220v line and power your equipment off of that?  You may actually be using MORE power by stepping up the voltage.

I can't help think that you're losing efficiency by stepping up the voltage.  Transformers aren't very efficient, as quite a bit of power is lost due to heat.

Yes, I agree.  I pointed that out in a earlier post.

I've got my APC Smart-UPS 1500 (1,000 watt) sine wave (230v version) connected to that (which I measured only uses 1 to 2 watts when the battery is full).  Also have a 5 port switch that measures about 1 watt of consumption at idle connected.  The ThorTech Thunderbolt Plus 1200 watt power supply is connected to that and the pair of AntMiner S3+ are connected to that (the display is showing that the power supply is running at a 92.77% efficiency).  So the measurements on efficiency and power are for the pair of (batch eight) S3+'s working in pair and mining for at least 5 minutes at each speed before the measurements were taken (225M and 237.5M were taken after 1 hour).  Note that the case the AntMiners are in has 6 additional 120mm case fans as well as a fan controller (at about 2w per fan, that's 12w plus whatever the fan controller uses that should be deducted from the rating below from the pair of S3+'s).  The wattage measurements fluctuate so I took the closest average.

Speed:          #1  (GH/S avg)     #2           Wattage at the wall           Wattage after the Step-Up C/T(230v)        Wattage after the power supply 12v (for pair of S3+'s and 6 additional case fans and cont.)
250M            486.62              499.42                  928                                         877                                                        825  (412w ea.)
237.5M         481.25 (489*)   479.21 (470*)       870                                         820                                                        778  (389w ea.)
225M(S3+)   450.55              448.46                  818                                         774                                                        725  (362w ea.)  about the 355w claimed after deducting for the 6 fans (but they claim it at the wall, which means they're off by approx. 25 watts each).
218.75M(S3) 438.89              438.95                  790                                         749                                                        700  (350w ea.)  about the 340w claimed after deducting for the 6 fans (but they claim it at the wall, which means they're off by approx. 25 watts each).
212.5M         428.44              414.86                  765                                         725                                                        676  (338w ea.)
200M            407.21              411.31                  717                                         679                                                        630  (315w ea.)
193M            390.32              387.29                  697                                         658                                                        610  (305w ea.)
175M            342.16              356.92                  630                                         595                                                        548  (274w ea.)

*(online pool stat: Average hash rate in last 60 minutes. Calculated each 5 minutes.)

Looks like I'm going to underclock a little 3 S3+'s down to S3 default speed of 218.75M on a EVGA 1300 watt G2 power supply for my next rig for about 1,050 watts at the power supply.
Here's a little odd fact I found out this weekend, when I set up a pair of S3+'s (at 237.5M for the pair) with a Corsair AX1500i Titanium power supply on the same power set up as above and only 4 smaller case fans, the wattage was about 20 watts MORE.  This shouldn't be as the power supply is Titanium rated and set up is closer to the 50% load rating.

I hate to ask this, but I can't find the answer anywhere. These coupons, I have 20, can I only use 1 per new miner purchased or can I apply multiples to a single miner purchase? Also, are they restricted to which miner I can apply them to?
You can use 1 per miner purchase and the type they can be applied to is written in the title/name of the coupon.
If you wish to sell them please use the correct marketplace forum.

Thanks! Feel kinda stupid, I didn't even notice they said S3+ in the title. DOH!!

Hello,

I'm having trouble connecting to 1 AntMiner with ssh (I can't connect directly to the web interface because it is in a server room somewhere else).
Whenever I try to connect to the miner this error pops up:
Code:
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@    WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED!     @
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY!
Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
It is also possible that a host key has just been changed.
The fingerprint for the RSA key sent by the remote host is
39:xx:xx.....
Please contact your system administrator.
Add correct host key in .ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message.
Offending RSA key in .ssh/known_hosts:1
RSA host key for [xx.xx.xx.xx]:xxxx has changed and you have requested strict checking.
Host key verification failed.

I've tried to delete the .ssh/known_hosts file several times now. But the error keeps coming back. Also I noticed that my hashrate dropped on the pool I'm mining on. Anyone else had this issue before?

I've managed to reset the firmware on the antminer, but now it constantly says the password is incorrect. Used both my custom pw and default password

There's another computer on that network with the same IP address. Did you set it to a static IP address or dhcp? You'll have to either contact your host and give them your MAC address and IP, and ask them to find the conflict, or do your best to change your IP to something else that's not in use. If you're using dhcp, then release/renewing your lease may fix it, but ideally you shouldn't have IP conflicts on your network.

Thank you! Explains a lot! I will now be able to fix it!

is it correct commands to update ?

SSH into the S3 and login
cd /usr/bin
mv cgminer cgminer.bak
wget http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/antminer/s3/4.6.1-141020/cgminer
chmod +x cgminer
Reboot

thanks
I used
Code:
cd /usr/bin
mv cgminer oldcgminer/cgminer
wget http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/antminer/s3/4.6.1-141020/cgminer
chmod 755 cgminer
reboot
(the directory "oldcgminer" was created earlier to hold previous versions)
hint to reduce typing errors:  (works on Putty with Windows) copy the text that you want to enter, then mouse-left-click in the Putty window to define the insertion point, right-click to paste the text.

Your procedure looks ok as well.

Hello, good day.

I bought 17 S3 miners some months ago. I'm a happy customer so far.

One of my miners suddenly stopped working. I pressed the reset button, but nothing happened. Both red and green LEDs are blinking; I can access the miner's web interface and this is what it shows on the "Miner Status" page:

I flashed all my miners with the latest firmware months ago, and all of them were working well so far until now.

Can anyone give me some directions on how to fix this miner?

Cheers,

Try a hard reboot
Try ribbons on controller
Faulty controller?

Shut it down and unplug supply and ethernet, let sit a few minutes, replace cables and fire up.

If still doing this then try running nmap from a linux machine and see what ports are open on the device.
