Does anyone have one lying around in Aus or close by?

I have a S3 controller laying around that I found.  It needs flashed it lost power during a firmware upgrade.  I just replaced it.

Just controller if anyone has a offer that is decent feel free to throw it over.  Likely in a few day's I will list it in hardware.

There is wireless capability however you need to add a pigtail & antenna.

Rich

Awesome!
 Smiley
I guess I could pull the pigtail from an old S1?
Then I only need an antenna right?

Could I pull an antenna from an old Wireless Router?

So long as your antenna is from a 2.4GHz device (most will be) then yes you just need the pigtail.

Rich

What would happen if i put a 2.2ghz antenna on it? Will it inhibit, or still help a little bit?

I remember seeing 2.2ghz and 2.4ghz antennas and i don't remember which one i bought :S

That is great to know. So am i right to assume that all WIFI antenna are standards, so if i already have Antennas, i only need to buy these?;

I see there is a wireless option in the LAN settings on my S3.
Can I connect directly to the Wireless network?

Never hooked an S3 up through the WAN so could use a newbie help guide please.

I can see only one 8-pin connector and it's for MB, not PCI-E. Or did I miss something? According specs, you get enough power out of that PSU but you have to make your own cables or find someone to do it. 8 pin pci-e connector has 5 GND wires and 3 +12V wires, that MB connector has 4 GND and 4+12V wires (and they are connected different way than pci-e). So splitter won't work for you. You'll propably end up with smoke if you try that splitter.

Edit: I found pictures of similar PSU with two 8-pin connectors but still they are 8-pin EPS12V.

Edit 2: Found an adapter: http://www.moddiy.com/products/Bitcoin-Mining-CPU-8pin-TO-2-PCI%252dE-6%252b2pin-Splitter-Cable.html

PSU wattage may be, however, please make sure there are 4 PCI-E connectors on the PSU or have an ability to make the necessary modifications to have safe 4 PCI-E connectors.

I'm new to this and recently picked up an S3+. From what I've been reading, the server power supply from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/251982322928?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT looks sufficient to power one Antminer. Just wanted to double check with you guys if it would be a good choice. Thanks.

Cool. Thank you. This power supply has two 8-pin 12v connectors and I was thinking of getting a couple of 8-pin to 6-pin splitters to have a total of four usable 6-pin connectors to plug into to the Antiminer.

I just got one of these and while it is quiet, it is still somewhat loud when trying to watch television. I want to drop the frequency down to 100M during the evening when I am in the room, then put it back to 225M (the default frequency). Basically, underclock when I am in the room and put to the normal speed when I go to bed/work.

Is there any danger of damaging the memory/storage with frequent writes to it? I don't imagine there is a hard drive inside the unit, so it must be writing the setting to some other form of non-volatile storage (with potentially limited writes).

Also, is it possible to automate this and have it follow a schedule?

If you want to save money but still get a quality PSU then go for a second hand Hot Swap Server PSU. Many to choose from on ebay, here is a good example.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/P081-HP-DL380-ML380-G5-POWER-SUPPLY-DPS-800GB-A-379123-001-403781-001-1000W-PSU-/351399031780?hash=item51d103b3e4

This is an HP DPS-800GB which will do 1000W with 82 Amps on 12V all Day long. Look on the RC forums for detail on how to connect up and enable it.

Rich

This HP server PSU has efficiency only 80+ bronze...

This was just an example of what you can get for £15 as opposed to a cheap ATX PSU. If you can suggest something better for the money please go ahead? Either way "only 80+ bronze" is a bit academic if the OP is going to using an S1.

Without adding an antennae whats the wifi range on an S3+. Just curious. Thanks!

Strato

Take apart an old laptop which had wifi and use those antennas. Each laptop had 2.

Good advise. I used those with S1,when I needed wider range.Cheap and very effective way.
