it looks like we are just a couple of diff increases from the s3s being useless with anyone over .08 cents /KWH power cost.
Hmm that's good Smiley
I pay 9c but that's is Aus$ so with the $ exchange rate that's 6.3c Smiley (at the current exchange rate)
(I also only mine 9hrs a day, the rest of the day it's a LOT more than 9c - it's 29c and 50c)

Wow that's some crazy varying rate. No wonder you keep it small. I guess running a pool is your best bet at decent income. First time i see such crazy rates.

That price is pretty tasty. I'd be inclined to even buy from the US at that price and have it shipped to Canada. But i see S3 kits being sold for 0.3 btc so it's probably worth still 60-80$ at this moment.

folks,

help me to recall what a "stock" s3+ will, on average, generate for pooled btc per day and per month for that matter?

thanks.

at 100% luck and 453ghs = .004 BTC/Day

Well, it changes (almost always goes down) every 2 weeks ...
Also the pool you mine at will affect what you get paid ...
Most pools should be around 99.x% - fee
Though Eligius is lower than a lot of them.

Electricity is pretty affordabe where I live, but will an S5 still be efficient at 8 cents a kilowatt? I really lik the efficiency of the S7 but I'm not ready to commit such a large amount towars an S7

i don't know, s5 might be more suitable, s7 is still very very expensive .

S7 is pretty expensive though; are the s5 still available?

Not new they would all be used and secondary markets I believe.   The S7 and S5 are quite different miners I would agree with that.

And pricing shows this.  Just depends on your electricity price on what I would buy.

Ready to make a move to buy mining equipment. Is Bitmain the most efficient equipement out there?

Efficient, hmm untill now for s7 yes, but they are very well build machines.

spoondolies got very good machines aswell.

it depends on how much you can spend.

s3 is good underclocked if you got cheap electricity as this machines are cheap but youll need a bunch to make some decent profit .

The most efficient curently being sold to the general public is the S7.  So yes BM.

It ships like somewhere between the 20th and 30th.  So we are getting close.

I get that lua error when i mess up with cgminer launch config parameters. To fix it i had no choice but to revert to default. But then i solved the inherent problem by changing firmware. Smiley

i just upgraded firmware to latest one, it had some custom, i don't remeber now wich one.  Huh

Did that solve it? Because it probably kept the same config files, which you will have to restore to default. If you have a S3 that work, copy paste that config. Or ask for someone here to pastebin it for you.

no i got that error after i upgraded firmware Grin

D I N G   -  D I N G   -   D I N G   -   D I N G

500 pages of posts for the venerable old S3 (aka The Tank). While not a record, I thought it warranted a mention. Never owned one, but I almost wish I had.

These were (and still are for someone with cheap power) great machines. I switched my last ones off just a few weeks ago. Lasted a year. No serious issues.
