Does anyone have a chart with the voltage / frequency settings for underclocking and overclocking the S3?  I'm interesting in getting a better J/Gh ratio with a stable underclock.
Those are all in the Miner Configuration - Advanced Settings tab in my updated version Smiley
https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS3
Besides having those voltage settings in the gui, the update also makes your machine run more efficiently, update today!

How does the update make the machine run more efficiently?

As I said earlier the voltage setting does not change the voltage, you need to change the values in the voltage divider on the TPS53355 DC-DC converter chip to actually change the Core Voltage.

Good that you have the correct equipment, it's easy to mess up. I am still experimenting to find the best values and have connected 8 Digital Pots controlled by an Arduino to one of the Hash boards to make adjustment possible without powering down. I did the soldering leaving the Hash Board in situ but it's probably best to remove them for better access, particularly the resistors at each end.

I think there may be different versions of the VRM however my S3 & S3+ are identical with the TPS53355.

This thread has some good information and pictures of which resistor(s) need to be changed.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11609261

Its a tricky job as they are small surface mount and you have 16 to do.

Rich

Thanks man. It's pretty easy job for me 'cause I repair laptops and similar stuff for living.I have all the equipment needed and have a lot of experience replacing same resistors of S1's.

Thanks.  This is really helpful.

Just  remember that the voltage settings in an S3+ do not change anything, only the frequency. So although you can increase and decrease the Hash rate it has very little effect on the J/GH. To improve the J/GH you need to "physically" adjust the Core Voltage using the pencil Mod or soldering a resistor across or in replacement of the VDD to VFB resistor.

Rich

I'm curious are s3 and s3+ with different vrm? And do you have actual part numbers for those resistors that need to be modified.Pic where those resistors are would be nice.I tried to search that info but didn't find.I still think I have seen it somewhere.

this one porduces fairly 10 euros per day costing like 2 euros the power eletrecity give 8 euros per day and 20 days till roi semms fair
Nope. It makes 1.01€ per day. And power cost at my rate is 0.87€/d.So profit is 0.14€/day.

Anyone know where i could get a replacement capacitor for the s3 hash board. The cap. Says F4 OCV 270 16V.

What makes you think it's bad?  Tried Digikey?

Yea I think a parts place like that is best chance.   I don't see Bitmain selling parts like this.

They chances are would sell a hash board (assuming they have stock).  But not down to capacitor and parts on it.

actually they will just tell you to send the whole unit or the blade back to them for repairs, i have to do the same with my bricked controller PCB unfortunately Sad

Yea though about that but i have a air gun and soldering unit so the parts are 8 bucks sounds cheaper trying to fix it my self then to ship the unit to texas from here which would be 25-50 bucks one way.

Texas? I was reffered to send my stuff to Colorado directly from Bitmain

I have never heard of anyone shipping parts/units to texas either.  It's been a while since I needed help though.

So it's either new... or wrong.
Also they said it would only be 10$ shipping and anywhere from 15$-35$ for repairs and they would tell me what is wrong before repairs. Just go to their support page....

If shipping is US to US 10 is not horribly out of realm if it's just controller board.  Yea most other components go up a lot.   As far as I know there is not an official list of centers.  All we can do is ask.

Bitmain does Texas have a center for warranty work?  Or was poster mistaken when he posted Texas.

I have not the slightest about the previous poster.

"You can try sending just the control PCB to Denver with $25 Money Order payable to Bitmain

Bitmain Warranty
3700 Quebec Street
Unit 100-239
Denver, Colorado 80207
USA

Tel: 844-248-6246 Option 2
(USA County Code is 1)

Also, please include a Printed Note with your shipping address and telephone number and the description of the problem.

*Please use a shipping method with a tracking number for your record."

That is the info i was sent directly from Bitmain Support
