Well, I finally did it...

Three of my four B5 S3's are all steady at 477+ Gh/s with freq 237.5 with the fourth never seeming to go over 460, did find one x on that one but that's after a week of 237.5 so I just reset it without worry.

Anyway, as for what I finally did. I put one of the three "good" S3's on freq 250 and were now 15 mins in with no X's and ~500Gh/s.

If it runs well or at least an hr I will try 250 on the other two "good" ones doing ~477Gh/s

In philipma case he had one running 24hr OK on 250, then had to be restarted and was NEVER able to run at 237.5 again. For me it means that you will be better off keeping most miners either on 237.5 or 243.75 instead of swinging for 250 or 256.25

that was batch 4. they are both stable at 231.25

the batch 6 did all the way up to 256.25

but really bad hw

they like 237.5

these s-3 units are picky.

they even get different numbers pool to pool

i suspect it may be how far you are from the pool's server's.
I am getting this psu on fri will see if it runs 4 s-3's

i know it is far more  $ then the 1300 watt model but it will be fun to test.

Congrats Cheesy
Thx, I went ahead and bumped the other two "good" ones so here's where we stand with all four.

I'll do pics after 24hrs when I have more precise stats assuming everything holds well that long.

Miner 1:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 59min
 --- Freq: 237.5
 --- Hash: 453 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.1936

Miner 2:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 8min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 500 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.2291

Miner 3:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 11min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 496 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.0008

Miner 4:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 56min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 503 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.0044

I'll still take the gamble because even if I do have to re-downclock, I have better than most power situations so I can play with stuff fairly easy an still make decent BTC even at a slight loss of hash.

As for 243.75, that's not a choice in the new FW and even in the one before it, there's no stuff for it.

Plus, one needs to know the values for thee three fields to even try 243.75.

option 'freq_value'    '1286'  #237.5M
option 'chip_freq'     '237.5'
option 'timeout'       '17'

All that said, what speeds have been seen on the 243.75 freq ?

I'm not opposed to 243.75 for safety, just need the three option settings an supposed speeds with it. Not even sure if many people run that freq.

I predict the next difficulty increase will be 20%

I predict it to be 11%

I predict 11.11%

jokes aside, it will be less than 20%, but higher than 11%, I choose 14-15%

WINNER WINNER  chicken dinner.
20.8% difficulty increase.

running bitcoin into a ditch with all these moronic speed increases…how nice.
soon a few mining companies will go out of business and remaining home miners will get too pissed to care.

So I have (1) S3 that will let out a single beep every couple minutes, but the rest don't. Is there some stat in cgminer I should be looking for? Queue depth perhaps?

Of how many?  What firmware?  Are you using a pool that it is loosing a connection to with the original firmware?.

I know my beeped alot until i turned the beeper off. ;-)  it seemed each time the multi-pool i was using changed work load it would take the miner a minute to get going and beep.

original shipping firmware, and 1 out of 30 beeps. not sure which one however.. Smiley

Hi there.
I am trying to start mining so I bought the Antminer S3. While setting up my wan connection. I un-checked the "Disable DHCP for this interface" and now I cant conect via ethernet to the miner using the default Ip(192.168.1.99) Can somone help me fix this frustrating issue?
Thank You

Using a browser, navigate to your router/modem usually in IP 192.168.1.1. you can find IP your S3 that connect to router/modem. after that you can connect to  S3

may be you can scan using this software https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ms-miner-antsp-monitor-v52-alertsautomassscheduled-rebootmobile-miner-596178
caused have feature : You can use it to scan your network to pick up the Ant addresses, or you can enter them manually.

You should go to Google and search for S3 setup, there's only about 100 pages that will tell you everything you need to know.
BTW why did you start changing things when you no idea what you were doing  Roll Eyes

if you unchecked disable DHCP, then you have to use advanced IP scanner (for PC) or iNET (for mac) to find out what IP your router assigned to your miner. Miner is usually described as Paragon technologies.
