There are no stickers on the screws to break (you know the ones that are placed there essentially to prove that you undid the screw)

And there are no electrical connections to the case to sense that you opened it.

I cant imagine that it could be proved you opened the case, supposing that youre not allowed to.

That said, i know from past experience that when there are problems bitmain support will direct you to re-seat electrical connections. Cant imagine that it would void anything, its just the case.

Im confident the case is there to look cool and improve airflow

I noticed the intake fan on one of my units does not work.  I wonder if I should open the unit up and ensure the cable is properly attached...

Does that void warranty?

Got mine yesterday.  One work fine at 449G per pool stat., but the other one is not working  Sad

Half of the ASIC was xxxxx.  I tried to change psu, cable, shutdown the one working and switch to this one (in case my new RM1000 is not working or not have capacity), reset it, change ethernet cable.  I even change the place 20 km apart!  Nothing work.

I did show it got all 3 workers alive and the first one even get work (but discard them all).  Pool stat. said it was touched in 11 hours ago but not lately.  I double check the tailoring is the same (DHCP etc.) and hence it might not be mine.

(I did open the case see whether there is any thermal paste.  Nothing.  Hence not for that reason.)

Have to get back to Bitman for maintenance.  A bit disappointed.  6 S1 since April is all fine and hence may have too high expectation on its working.

Anyone have a clue as to when the next batch of S3s is going on sale?

The chip is spec'd at 9.33W @ 7.5 0.75V - you can do the math on that amiright?

thats about 12.5A per chip with 2 chips per regulator - only about 25A draw or so which is well within the limits of the TPS53355. Either bitmain got some crappy/knockoff regulators or the problem is something else.

in the S1 the TPS53355 was able to push 35A without issues in most miners.

Without issues? I guess that depends on how lucky you were with the batch of regulators used for your particular S1s. This part was also used in the bitfury "25GH" boards and offered a ton of room for overclocking - provided that some airflow was provided.

Thing is, the part may have outperformed the specification in the past, or in certain batches, but that's no guarantee of future performance - which is why they provide min/typ./max info in the first place. Assuming that a critical part is going to perform above spec is either ballsy or retarded depending on your POV.

Yes, 25A is under the 30A "max" spec'd by TI, but to get the whole picture you need to consider thermal derating which I mentioned in an earlier post. I have some thermal pics at home, I'll upload them if there's any interest.

Please upload your thermals, I'm interested to see them.

From the datasheet:

Note the line for natural convection, and how current begins to drop off as ambient temperature rises.

So opening them, putting a box fan behind them in a AC room, should help them alot being stable, and better OC performance if possible. right .?

Your chart is meaningless unless we know the devices current requirement.

The chip is spec'd at 9.33W @ .75V - you can do the math on that amiright?

You need to know what the miner is drawing on the device. what the device is rated for is only half the question and not the answer.

'The right to privacy matters'
bitmain has gained greatly in value from yesterday up to today.  the sp30 is a bust.  no one knows had big of a bust yet but it is a bust.  the ceo the the company admitted so on the sp30 thread.

so will it hash at 4th and pull 2400 watts.

it is not going to do the promised 6th.

we also do not know what the efficiency will drop to.  .6 watts  .7 watts?

this means the s-3 has jumped up in value.  How big a jump depends on how bad the sp30 turns out to be.

As a s-3 owner this will also help with the diff.

This is a very big deal and has serious consequences for the home miner.

He forgot to say the CEO also said that this would not impact delivery dates.

So if its slightly less than 6TH and slightly more than 0.5watts the overall effect will not be that different to everyone else than if they had delivered on spec.

you are correct  if it is 5.5th and .55 watts and ships on time   not much of an effect.  It still makes the s-3 look more valuable.

The questions are :

6th = 4th or 5th

more importantly does the .46-.5 watt move to .6-.7 watts?

It will have quite a big effect on how much performance they can get out of 1 SP30 though since they are limited to the 2400W of power available, kind of relevant since the Spoon-goons have been all over the forums telling everyone about their amazing performance density and efficiency.

"slightly less than 6TH and slightly more than 0.5watts" Simply wont happen due to the PSU constraints, even at 0,45W/gh they would be limited to 5,3TH/SP3

figured it out...

Apparently you have to put in a password AND you must fill in all 3 pool's, otherwise no data appears in miner status...

Anyone know a couple of good pools I should use for backup?

You should be able to use the same credentials and pools for all 3. Smiley

1. why is your pool info repeated twice?
2. remove stratum+tcp://, just keep stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
3. maybe add a second pool

save and apply

wait until it beeps, then check

Sorry, pasted twice by accident...

I tried removing the stratum+tcp://, no change... no beeps either...

Also, when I try diagnostics, tracert and ping both fail.  reports Network unreachable...

My WAN shows activity, my LAN shows no activity and is set to DHCP...  Should I be changing this to a static IP address as well as the WAN address?  (two different IP's???)

is your router on 192.168.1.1?
do you have other miner that might be on 192.168.1.99?
bold numbers should be the same for router and miner, but could be different from standard

Good call Bio, bytechanger, log in to your router (what router/broad band provider is it?) and check the Default Gateway setting.

My router for example is 192.168.1.254 (most common is 192.169.1.1) - you need to set whatever this 'Default Gateway' ip address from your router in you miner config 'gateway' address.

unless knc will get off their buttocks and make something competitive price-wise.
But, I agree, suddenly Bitmain has the best product (when up to specs) for a reasonable price.
I am enjoying lower jumps and feeling great about not selling the S2.

I just received my miners and am very excited.

I was able to connect them to my network and I am able to access the web interface.

I only changed the WAN settings to:

IP Address:  192.168.0.250
subnet:       255.255.255.0
gateway:    192.168.0.1
broadcast:  192.168.0.255

(I did not modify my LAN settings from DHCP)

I added eligius to my #1 pool and removed the others...

Pool 1:  stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334   stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
Worker:  Wallet ID
Password: N/A

Click Apply & Save...

Now when I view the Miner Status, everything says "This section contains no values yet"... and is empty.

Any idea why my pool is not being displayed here?  Previously, it had Antminer's pool there and it looked fine...
