Sure, you can just print / copy your invoice.
It states the time and date of purchase and the bitcoin amount, you then look up the exchange rate and write that to customs.

Customs asked for an invoice from me once and I did what I described, they accepted it.

Customs accepts a lot, even emails when you purchase something privately.

BitMainTech should allow CC/paypal payment from the next sale.

Or they could simply add the spot price to your invoice on the account page at time of order, let's not go back to the dark ages shall we when there's an easy fix.

Bitmain has been declaring their miners at the purchase price for quite some time now.

If for some unknown reason customs charge more than the percentage for VAT based on the purchase price, you can get that additional money back.

However, do not forget that the carrier ie UPS charges around 10€ for the customs service on top.

Its difficult to get such a refund. The first thing is that bitmaintech issues no invoice.
Blockchain info and the order page is the only proof. I doubt whether they will accept it.
Move over its bitcoin and so you need some luck if you are dealing with non-bitcoin friendly officer.
BitMainTech should allow CC/paypal payment from the next sale.

just had a call from UPS.

Apparently of the 2 invoices bitmain supply they give 2 different values.  935 usd and 975 usd.  they wanted to know which one I actually paid?

That means full real value declaration. Don't forget to update the customs duty charged by them.
I did a search on duty estimate website and found only one product as Antminer and its priced over $1500 for one.
Its the S2 price. They may think S3 is more priced than S2, if customs charged based on this then, it will become a real issue.

Tell them 935.... duh
It should be accurate after the 7% discount.

I did.  More bizarre is that bitmain would give 2 different values?  Or is this a normal thing?  BTW the person confirmed that they are listed on the documents as "bitcoin miners" and as such are treated as computer hardware. No import, duty just vat.

Let's return to a more meaningful discussion. If we are trying to overclock to 478Gh, do we need all four PCIe plugs? Or, since it sounds like they can barely get to 478Gh the whole four plug thing is unnecessary? I have a Roswell 1300 PSU that I think can handle 3 S3s now that they are 340w each or 366w OCed.

In my opinion now the four PCI-E cable plugging sockets are useless.
Even if we can overclock by luck, no need to plug additional cables.
If the power consumption is true as in the datasheet, we only need to plug additional plug if we go over 504Ghs.
That's never a possibility and so we may just close it or desolder it and use for any hobby circuit purpose.

I have seen 480 GH, so that should be possible.

What would really be interesting is if somebody could measure the DCDC temperature at full load. We can then see whether it is limitated by temperature or other problems.

I think the general consensus is that because that dc dc thingy (technical term) is under specced for the job for the original planned GH/s, to overclock it at all may damage them and thus render the miner useless.

If I'm wrong I apologise for mis interpreting the posts.

Good to know. I'll wait and see if others are successful OCing first.

I received a reply from Bitmain a minute ago regarding their shipping procedures. They said they follow the "first to order, first to ship" method. I am hoping they'll be shipping today.

I don't buy it. My order was placed early in batch 1 but still hasn't shipped.

I suspect that my order won't ship until batch 2 is ready - it's possible that they are simply out of product.

Were you one of the people who ordered and then had their order marked as invalid because the payment took too long? i was and i think it has adjusted my queue position since my order creation time is 2014-06-30 17:37:11.0 but the payment details show 2014-06-30 19:10:49. i suspect this is why some people are delayed in their orders being shipped.

Bitmain has 24/7 assembly as long as parts are ready.

What they cannot control (too much) is how ups schedules their pickups and plane flights.

Have you ever considered how long it takes to ship out thousands of miners?
[/quote]

Yes, probably not too long. Suppose you have 10 people dealing with shipping and you want to ship 1000 miners a day, working 8 hours a day.

That means every person needs to package and ship one miner every five minutes. That doesn't sound very hard.

Do you have any idea how big is china population its 1,3 bil people.Anything includes man power can be done cheep and easy.Specially for a job that does not require experience the only experienced must be easy they hire 3000 people  for a week or so, do their job and finish.

The only job that requirs skill except the electronics is the logistics adresses etc
that in my case for all Bitmain parcels were hand written!!!

Since the S2 ships in 48 hours, I'm guessing that maybe Bitmain only ships every other day.

And since its now the 17th in Hong Kong, with any luck the rest of batch 1 will ship within the next 17 hours.

I order daily from them and they definitely ship every day except Sunday

Well it doesn't seem like any more of batch 1 shipped out on the 16th, at least not that was posted here.  I hope they get batch 1 shipped by the 17th, as promised.

I hope so too. That's the least they could do. They literally shut people up by sending out a small number of shipments.
