Some people seem to think the coupon is 10% off from next order, I interpreted it as a coupon worth 10% of your old order value so I don't really see why people are trying to calculating stuff. It's easy, take the 7,7% if you don't know if you are buying more S3s, if you plan on buying more S3s just take the coupons.

I was thinking the same thing.  Grin

NOW next batch is 7.7% LOWER performance...it should start @ 1.45 BTC - 7.7 % = 1.45 - 0.11165 = 1.33835
...or ~1.35 BTC per order - to be FAIR and consistent with current performance level... Wink

This is my expectation ...correct me if I am wrong...

We'll see...

ZiG

Like it!!  And 1.35 - 0.15 coupon = 1.2BTC

[/quote]

Exactly ...if I buy next batch for 1.20 BTC + 1.50 BTC paid for Batch 1 = 2.70 BTC for 4 S3 ...

This should be average of 1.35 per purchase (2 S3's)...which is FAIR...I guess... Grin

EDIT...:

Do you agree with this math, BitMain... Huh

I hope they don't agree, and factor in a months diff increase, for another 0.1 off..

Can someone help me double-check my math?

.75-(.75*.077)=0.69225 BTC # Cost each by going for the 7.7% refund

((.75*2)+((.725-.075)*2))/4=0.7 BTC # Cost each by going for the 10%-off coupon on Batch 4

Price required for 10% coupon to be a better deal than the 7.7% refund: ((.75*2)+((.7094-.075)*2))/4=.7094 BTC

So if my math is right, for taking on the added risk of buying twice the hardware we've already purchased, the price per MOQ would have to drop to 1.4188 BTC to be a better deal than just taking the refund.

That's a price drop of 0.0156 BTC/each, so probably the next batch. But when will that next batch ship, and will it have improved DC/DC components? These are questions that really need to be answered by Bitmain before I take their coupon. That, or they need to be more aggressive with their coupon offer, otherwise I'm leaning toward opting for the refund, since the chances of me being able to order double what I've already ordered are slim. My primary hope would be to resell the coupons for more than .05775 BTC, which I doubt will be likely unless something extra-ordinary happens to the price of BTC for the duration of the coupon.

Anyway, how does my math and conclusion look to you guys?

Your third line has the wrong value at the end.  Should be:
Price required for 10% coupon to be a better deal than the 7.7% refund: ((.75*2)+((.7094-.075)*2))/4=.6922 BTC
Otherwise it looks about right.  How did you arrive at .7094?  There is probably a slightly higher cost that would yield .692249 which would really be the point at which it becomes cheaper but you don't show how you got .7094 as your price point.

Back to back blocks by the Antpool.

Of course, see the surge in hashing between yesterday and today. They are assembling batch 2, then "testing" it.

It is easier to calculate on 2 S3 ...MOQ...

I paid 1.5 BTC ...batch 1 ... 1.5 BTC x 7.7% = 0.1155 BTC refund for Batch 1

Batch 2 & 3 will be similar...

NOW next batch is 7.7% LOWER performance...it should start @ 1.45 BTC - 7.7 % = 1.45 - 0.11165 = 1.33835
...or ~1.35 BTC per order - to be FAIR and consistent with current performance level... Wink

Anyone received their refund yet?

Doesn't look like it.

Negative. I would expect them to process those after shipping b3 or wait until the coupon or refund choice time has ended. Mine still says Init.

I would first see how batch 1 behaves before deciding if I want more. We might have a few days to see that.

Bitcoin Talks Bullshit Walks
There is a fix provided by kano (https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS2)that addresses the p2pool issue with the s2... its not 100% and problem with it is he built it on the build of the s2 that doesn't seem to want  to hold your settings after reboot.. What I have done to improve the average hashrate by 5% is edit the etc/init.d/cgminer.sh   upgrade the s2 to latest firmware so it will retain pool settings and then ssh into the s2.. then type cd /etc/init.d   then vi cgminer.sh   goto bottom of file and edit the PARAMS= line.. I set the queue to 0 and added this before the end comment.. --scan-time 1 --expiry 15.. They for some reason have the queue at 8192 which causes a ton of work to be discarded.. before this fix i had over 500000 discarded shares daily   now down to several thousand in 24 hours..  Hope this helps someone out there:D

Kano's S2 update makes S2s completely unusable with p2pool and Eligius.  I tried it back when it came out.

I tried changing the queue as well, and it didn't make any difference for me.

ahh I haven't tried the fix towards p2pool.. but as for the the kano mod on slush pool I was able to get an additional 65 ghs on 3 of my s2.. on of them didn't like it and actually made it little slower for whatever reason..  id have to say the biggest improvement for me was setting the queue to 0 and adding the expiry and scan..  but it may vary in results with other machines..

Shipped Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy.
Congrats, Im just waiting until they open up for sale again Cry I missed the 1st batch since I didnt see about the P2Pool answered, but they got it to work Grin

They did? I thought they were still working on this.. Link?

Work or work properly?  S2s work, as long as you don't mind throwing away 10% of your hashrate.
