Since you have very little money and no experience, my advise is to spend a lot of time in the forum reading and trying to learn, and once you become a Junior Member after a month or so perhaps start to earn some money as a bounty hunter.

Hi guys,

Newbie here trying to set up a crypto profile. 1 month ago I had heard the name Bitcoin but didn't know what it was other than a digital currency and had not heard of any alt coins so bear with me  Undecided

I don't have a huge amount to invest, thus far i have 0.13 BTC and 2 ETH, 2.6k XRP AND 50 OMG. I want to keep adding to this and keep it for as long as needed, i  am not really interested in trading as i don't understand this space enough to do that.

Any ideas or thoughts? Should i move any of these around? Concentrate on adding to bitcoin? Add to XRP/OMG etc etc???

Also i have a ledger nano s en route to keep my coins.

cheers
In general, you have a normal budget portfolio, just need to increase the bitcoin's share in it

You should find a good trader to study. He will teach you about knowledge and technical analyst skills. And the most important is that you also learn about behavioral psychology. This will help you become an expert.

New entrants to the market should give themselves time to trade, trying to trade immediately means big problem. It is a very useful recommendation to trade in the first 15 coins in the market, I agree with this recommendation. Participation in ICOs should be later, because it is necessary to choose a good project, learn a lot. Good luck.

I can easily say it’s better to stick to this forum. You need to do a very good research before you make an investment. You also need to learn from your mistakes. You should be careful about believing every members comment here and do your own research.

I can see most of people giving you advice to do proper research before actually investing money and this is obviously not something that will make things worth but the use of it is also exaggerated. If only it was so easy that one could read on the projects as much as possible and rationally define the potential winner. The thing is that good projects might go on surprisingly bad and even projects with great PR campaign don't always turn out the predicted way. What's more, you said you're not really interested in trading, so I guess you are not into becoming a pro on cryptocurrencies. That's why I would recommend to do a rather simple thing: invest in currencies in top-15 on coinmarketcap.com based on their market capitalization. Avoid coins that are too cheap, though. Good luck!
Even you read the concept of the project and more about the project that you are trying to invest for the way on how you can choose are hard to take we know how risky it is and how hard to find the good one. Choosing for where you want to invest in top 15 coins in the coinmarket can help you to decide where you can put your investment.

I believe now it's a perfect time to invest in good ICOs.. what does it mean? A competent development team is the most important point. You should know very good who is behind the project, their past projects... people are the key point of successful ICO

You are doing good by spreading out your investment on different alt coins. This way you can minimize your loss and less risky. Make sure you do your own research about the coins before you invest. There are tons of alt coins which are not legit  and used for pumping and dumping scheme.

Before investing, read as much as you can. Also you should take into account positive and negative comments.
Never sell altcoins, if the price is less that you have invested. It's better to wait in order not to lose.
read as much as you can and research and make a study on it if you have some friends to consult for then go for it or make some reading here in forum some comments are make a help with you but not all so better to take the advantage of study for you to learn it cause you will never learn it as easy as you know it takes time.

For newbies, I suggest try not to trade due to lack of knowledge and experience. Design a portfolio to mitigate risk of loss.  As the list of coins you holding is good, these coins are highly demanded, but from holding prospective for the long term, Bitcoin is better than all altcoins and use other coins to invest in ICOs but before investing, do good research about the project and team members. Try not to rely on the words of others. Always do the assesment by your self about the project.

wow, thanks for all the replies! I went to bed for a few hours after a long nightshift there and didn't expect to wake up to that. Ill look into the coin recommendations Wink Also i had to do a few quick googles, ICO's, HODL etc ha

Like i said i'm not interested in trading atm as i see it as a little daunting and i have zero understanding of this or any market, though it has always interested me. The only reason i am he is because of a few random people i follow on twitter, and i am a newbie as much as i say i am to the guy that said otherwise  Grin. 45 min drive to work daily gives me 90 mins daily of youtube vids or podcasts to listen to and some reading so I built up a very basic understanding quickly.
Some of the % returns I've seen is crazy and see this as a potential place to make life changing money if you get it right/lucky, but what i have invested (2-2.5k usd maybe) could disappear and i'm ok with that. I'm in this for the long haul and will hodl till the time is right.

Quick question, i looked on reddit and hit a link that someone later said was a phishing link and im a bit paranoid now...my ledger nano is arriving monday and ill be safe then, but would i be at risk now? I have blockchain app on my phone where my BTC and ETH are and Bitsmap for XRP. Anytime i enter passwords etc is on my PC and i dont save any passwords or recovery words...all on paper?

Study and study crypto very hard because its a contemporary discipline, invest in altcoins and don't sell them when price go down because you may end up loosing money.

Ignore most of the posts you see here  Tongue

But really, take everything you read regarding a specific coin with a grain of slat. Lots of accounts on here exists only to praise/attack certain projects. Do your own research when choosing investments.

this is great for a newbie, but if you want to get more profit, just try to learn trading, it will add to your assets, when it is enough to invest you can do it, and like others say, do not stop to learn more about blockchain, researching a project you want to participate in, and the most important is security, just be careful in making decisions

Your porfitlo is quite good. Both of them are big coin with huge market cap and volume. It is quite safety but can't give you much profit. You can add a token from ICO project. It will help you learn many things.
