I am using it to mine XMR. Easily 1000h/s on vega 64.

My whole machine with 2x Vega 64 draws 270W from the wall and does 2050h/s XMR. I only downclock core to 1080, overclock mem to 1100 and set temp target to 70.

Voltage is auto. At $499 they are pretty good value (as a 1080ti user). You will get faster ROI using 570 and 580s now, but I think we need to wait for bios mod tools to unlock vega's potential.

could you share your power draw in some pics? do u use any kind of kill-a-watt?

270 for 2 vega 64 + whole system I think it's not possible.....

Yes kill-a-watt. here's a pic of the rig

1.5x the XMR hash rate of 580s, same power draw. Godlike efficiency

It can be dropped to 250W, 1980h/s too. Regular 17.8.2 driver. BC driver crashes on my cards instantly when trying to mine eth.

Even though the price of XMR more than doubled during the past two to three weeks, the profitability of mining XMR is still about 75% of mining ETH by using the same hardware...
so I don't see too much efficiency gain of Vega comparing to RX 580 or GTX 1070...
of course, if you have free or very low electricity, and can buy Vega at MSRP, that's another story

In my country, the Vega 56 is at 500 €. The Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ 8GB is at 260€.

For the price of 1 Vega 56, I get 2 RX580. The choise is easy to made Smiley

Just curious : what hashrates do you get with the vega 56 ? The biggest I saw was 36 mh/s but maybe it has been increased.

My friend along found an article online and he was able to get his vega to run at 37.5MH at 180w. That hash/power ratio is better than a 1080ti.
Just go google vega hashing articles online. My friend copied the one with -24% tdp.

Price for Vega is double more than 580 , if i would have budget(for cards only) 5000 EUR i would not take 10 Vegas i would take 20 RX 580 models Wink
Shorter ROI and everyting...

Also interested / not sure if it's possible. I've gotten my per card down to just under 170 watts and thought I was doing good!

You are leaving performance on the table, I just got a Vega 64 black and I get 1295 H/s at 860/1100. Less is more when it comes to XMR and vega. Nano pool 6 hr average is 1500 H/s. Fan at a gentle 55%.

I think the 580X is much better value.

The RX 580 / 570 is out of stock since May in my country. There is no value in something I am not able to buy  Undecided

P.S. VEGA64 is not impressive on mining at all, counting the fact that PC eats, at the wall, on stock settings between 300-400W when mining.

I'm using 4 RX Vega 64 in a rig, and the rig is using 770 watt at the wall when mining just Ethash at 41,6 MH/s per GPU
When dual mining it is using 1050 Watt while getting a total of 160 MH/s Ethash and around 600 MH/s Lbry

My other rig with with 4 RX 580 (Sapphire Nitro+) is using 510 watt at the wall when mining just Eth at 28,5 MH/s per GPU
Dual mining with this rig is using 720 watt at the wall, while getting a total of 110 MH/s Eth and 380 MH/s Lbry

Code:
Rig	                                 Watt at the wall      	Hashrate
4 RX Vega 64 Eth only                    770                  166 MH/s
4 RX Vega 64 Dual mining Eth + Lbry       1050                  160 MH/s + 600 MH/s
4 RX 580 Eth only                          510                  114 MH/s
4 RX 580 Dual mining Eth + Lbry            720                  110 MH/s + 380 MH/s

The price for Vega 64 in my country is almost excactly double the price of RX 580 (none of them available atm tho..)

...

Waiting for Vega 56 to arrive any day now to do some comparisons

I think the 580X is much better value.

To Hash or not to Hash, that's what the question
September 04, 2017, 11:04:50 PM
Apparently everybody knows what vega is capable in regards mining, i would like to share experience in redeeming game code... the process is real joke.
Once you will get to amd rewards site, you will be required to sign up, providing your email, name phone# etc, then you will get 2 codes one via email (real long one) and another one via text, you will need to input that on same page, once you will receive them and submit, after submission, you will get another code that you will use after you will sign up to steam... and them you will get your game code (yep, another one). ONE. i dont know know how they choose which one out of 2 games offered, but you will get only one, for another game you will be offered to buy it at full price. Was about to get games for my nephew but after this whole process... i couldn't get the game he wanted, i said just screw it. In store they said you get 2 games - YOU DONT.

P.S. VEGA64 is not impressive on mining at all, counting the fact that PC eats, at the wall, on stock settings between 300-400W when mining.

FYI, it auto throttles a little around 66C and a lot at 70C.  My current settings are GPU S6=1577, ram 1025, target temp 65, power max -5%.

No throttling if you tweak your power settings a bit. Try applying power limit +5 or +10%.

I wonder if the price of Vega would drop significantly before the holiday season, maybe with some Black Friday deals. I'm just a hobby miner and there is very limited amount of space at home devoted to the mining rig. Plus the fact that we live in one of the coldest regions in the country. Getting a couple Vega cards does make sense if the price dropped to a reasonable level.

Lol, I just cant understand beside devs, why miners buy failega hehe, Vega is for gamers, gaming, not mining noobs. Stop enrich the ebay scammers for once, gamers want to buy Vega for gaming, let them to.
for gaming just buy gtx 1080/1070 the price more reasonable, vega its build for compute, only smart miner who tanking vega for now

Not sure I'd call it smart at current prices. Maybe once the 3rd party boards come out with better cooling and lower prices.
