Yes, currently vega64 is not the most profitable choice for mining when you pay almost $700 for a card. However, there is some promise here when the price comes down and the drivers mature. I needed a new gaming card so I got one to test for mining too and I'm getting 41MH/s on ETH.

FYI, it auto throttles a little around 66C and a lot at 70C.  My current settings are GPU S6=1577, ram 1025, target temp 65, power max -5%. Using the latest blockchain driver.

You paid 833€? Holy crap. How much is that over the regular retail price?

Yes, that was a few days ago. It seems that the cards are back in stock as of yesterday. They have also updated the pricing. It's 750 EUR at the moment (VAT of 20% is included in this price).

Also, the new Vega 56 has arrived. The gross price of the Vega 56 is 613 EUR here (20% VAT included).

I have ordered a Vega 56 and I will be testing it with different algos to see if it is more profitable than the Vega 64.

next couple month we'll see 50++ at low power
dual mining dcr almost 3ghs, nice profit then, not suprise vega out of stock, some ppl bought ton of them

And what is point of that if 2x p106 mining do about 50m now with lower power consumption, and on lower price, and can be buy for some time...
Vega is waste of time and resorces for now...

No, AMG vega does not seem to be ideal for coin mining. Although various rumors suggest otherwise, our first test shows that Vega does not do miracles in this area. I did a test with the benchmark tool of the Nicehashminer,  a program that combines multiple mining protocols, and always sees which coin you can best benefit from.

43mhs for a card that cost 600$, not profitable for now at all, 3x rx570 at 500$ is doing about 88mhs, vega needs to do about 60mhs minimum.

175w still a bit high...GTX 1070 can do ~30 mhs around at 100-110w, which is still more efficient in term of power consumption...
of course, i considering the density of the machines or utilization of motherboard/CPU/RAM/SDD... Vega is still a good option, but not a killer in my opinion  Grin

AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su said on her company’s earnings call last month :
“But it’s important to say we didn’t have cryptocurrency in our forecast, and we’re not looking at it as a long-term growth driver.”

Hmm Smiley

That is clearly a strategic mistake. Bye bye AMD

If you think multi billion dollar hardware companies are gonna basically hinge their architecture on GPU mining you are out of your mind. History is your friend.

What cracks me up is the fact that AMD bothers to release vega when they don't have the manufacturing to be able to produce anything even remotely considered a viable inventory. People keep saying miners grabbed them all up, but a quick look at ebay will show you that there are very few cards available even from people trying to cash in. That tells you that the amount sent out from AMD to retailers was minuscule. I wouldn't even call it a release. They wanted to give the appearance of popularity to keep people interested while they trickle out what little they can.

Yes  I agree. My distributer of hardware supply have not even got them from AMD yet.

Why are you guys even considering these cards? I am really trying to understand it when you can just buy a gtx 1070 or rx580 and get 30mh at half the power draw

Oh yeah, to be honest, I havent bought a single VEGA although I want to.  No stock and I dont care for the bundles.  I just want one to play around with and see what I can do with it.  Remember its an upgraded FURY (sort of), and like the nano, it can be undervolted like crazy.  I'm quite positive at some point someone will publicly release a guide to undervolt the vega to 150w for 40mhs or more.  But yeah its way to expensive.
