Lately, my VEGA has been getting high temps. When i start mining with CastXMR it goes from 45 degrees to 70 degrees in about 5 minutes. Fan speed is already at 4k+ RPM.
Any ideas? It's a vega 56 msi airboost. No bios flash to 64 available. Running at 1450 / 930.

Mine is a flashed V56 (V64 bios). Without flashing V56 cannot run the HBM2 at 1100 Mhz frequencies.
1960 H/s for Monerov7 and 1460 H/s for cryptonight-heavy is the sustained hashrate I could achieve (using JJ script + xmr-stak) on 18.4.3 drivers.

I am just find out that new driver from 22.3. is a trouble maker for vega frontier edition (liquid cooling) - I am unable tu change the clocks, even the fan rpm. It´s just not working...
And one more thing, for normal vega 64 LC is a max fan rpm lowered from 3300 to 1500 for vega FE is the same. Why they are did this?
Anyone find out how to change clock? (Except soft power table)

do you use the same soft_pp mod for your vega 64s (if u have 64s ofc)?
Or do you have a different one for 64s? If so can u post that one too?

Yes. Although mine's a Vega 56 BIOS modded to V64.
EDIT: Got better results on xmr-stak for crytonight-heavy. Now get 1500 H/s at 1408/1100 clocks and 160w power from wall

so this is even if you disable enable the vegas, uploaded the reg mod, (basically the standard way)?
didnt know the hashrate dropped that much, I thought you should be getting 2kh/s just like before the fork
you won't get similar performance before the fork. The algorithm isn't cryptonight anymore it's cryptonight-heavy (more memory intensive).

In my tests my ref vega56 flashed to vega64 and running 1408/1150 was doing 1500-1540h/s on cryptonight heavy. But with original vega64 aio I cannot get more than 1450h/s. And all this have stability issues and hashrate drops when running together in a rig, not one by one. Very weird ((

heya i´v been looking for alternative for cryptonight for my vegas and i found Claymore´s neosrypt miner in which vega can hit 2,2 mhrate any1 using it ? seems like more profitable atm
It will take 250-280 watt per properly downvolted card to achieve this speed. Not good at all ((

ooohh that's too bad to hear that, i'm planning to try mining using vega gpu. btw thanks for the information. I will think again to use it. I still love rx 580 then. Instead of wasting money it's better to keep the old ones.

I had a perfect setup using xmr-stak-amd , with 1407/1100 settings, all cards reg modded etc.
Now with the new XMR-STAK I am facing following problem - all shares are rejected by the pool, when using these settings even with a single thread. Pressing R shows low difficulty share errors , wtf?
Oddly enough, I am getting all good results using the ETH settings I am using - 875 core / 1100 memory. Hashrate is significantly lower of course.
Any idea how to set this up right?
I had a perfect setup using xmr-stak-amd , with 1407/1100 settings, all cards reg modded etc.
Now with the new XMR-STAK I am facing following problem - all shares are rejected by the pool, when using these settings even with a single thread. Pressing R shows low difficulty share errors , wtf?

what are you mining? Have you updated your miner? Few cryptonight coins have forked out to different variants of cryptonight algos
I just tried it on XMR . Using self compiled 2.3.1 xmr stak. Also tried the precompiled nanopool 2.4.1 version - same result.
I have zero xp with this version of the miner, like I said - I've been using the old xmr-stak-amd with bc drivers ever since I have the rigs (already 7 months).
So what can be wrong here? What are the optimal settings with this new miner?
did you change the currency to xyz? (eg. sumokoin) or still have it as cryptonight? You need to change the appropriate currency in xmr-stak settings.
I am trying to mine cryptonight-heavy with my Vega 64 but the pools, despite accepting all the shares produced, only show about 10% of the hashrate that xmr-stak reports... I know it's not a visual bug because after 24 hours I mined 10% of what was to be expected.
If someone is not having this problem, please let me know the coin and the pool to try.

I'm not sure if this is applicable to the problem you are having but i was experiencing the same "low difficulty share errors" when trying to mine stellite today.
The fix was to use the new version of Cast_xmr (version 092) and the --algo switch to tell it to use the new algorithm ( the --algo is not a mistype). It would not work until that switch was in the bat file. Here is a copy of my .bat file but please note that i am using 2 Vega 64 cards so you will have to change the -g switch to your own requirements. And i am still using the Blockchain version of the amd drivers.

just wait for the consumer cards to get into the wild so the programmers can play with them before we know their real potential. By all accounts it seems it will be incremental instead of revolutionary .
