I've done to follow instruction but somehow when I disable/enable Vega56 on device manager 1 of 2 got exclamation mark when it's enabled and isn't detected when mining.

I clean installed Win10 64, AMD Blockchain driver "Only" is installed manually, Set "0" to both EnableElps, EnableCrossFireAutoLink. and followed rest of instruction... Huh

I haven't be able to get up to speed with the thread lately.

I am running two XMR rigs, 4 Vega 64 each. Windows Fall Creator's, August 23 blockchain drivers.
Total hashrate is 16060H/s (~2007 per card)
Using hellae's 1100MHz regedit (1407/900, 1100/905 probably)
xmr-stak-amd with 1932/1932 threads on each card
~1525watts from the wall (220v) with Corsair RM1000is

Is there any benefit switching to xmr-stak or cast-xmr?
Can I get any more efficiency out of them?

has anyone encountered gpu compute errors for any of these reasons: 

1) Too low memory voltage (like 900-925)  on a vega
2) Vega 64 not handling 1100 mem overclock properly?


I am getting lost already, can't really find the sourse of the problem. Even at under 50C, I still get errors - probably on a single card, but cannot determine which one Sad

If HBCC doesnt show any effect I dont think HBM size will be the cause of any limitation to XMR hashing.  I've never noticed 8000 showing on memory use? Its the speed of the ram not the size, possibly timings so I dont think Frontier has any advantage.  The main thing Frontier has that Rx Vega does not come with some professional qualification for rendering type tasks.   I think its relatable to ECC ram on cpu and motherboard use, its not really that important unless your results have to never be wrong for liability and insurance reasons.

Cache size on CPU chips is relevant there, I was told its about 2 meg per thread.   I get 10 from 20meg on chip cache i think, 250h for $70 cpu is very good afaik

Have anyone tried mining with vega frontier edition? Wondering if the extra ram helps with running XMR?

Did you ever find out an answer to this?

PCB is identical to Vega 56.  Only 2x HBM.

Is a HDMI dummy plug absolutely required for mining XMR at 1850+? or is it just for ease of use when using remote desktop?
Is there any other suitable alternative (aside from a monitor)? as shipping seems to be obscene in time-frame.
And does it actually have to be connected to a powered-on monitor?

Yep.  Exactly.  My .bat for Cast is named "Start-Cast" - so I modify script like this:

Your power consumption is not accurate. Its software that tells you with a large inaccurate margin of error what you use from the power supply but not what you draw from the wall. Usually you have to add about 15-20% more. So your score is not good.

You don't need Radeon Settings (aka Watman), DDU and install driver (choose custom install), leave checked box for only driver.
You can  check http://vega.miningguides.com/ for detailed step-by-step guide.

I hadn't originally planned on putting this out there, but some other asshole decided to charge a fee for this info. Fuck that guy. Here's a fix for reduced hashrate and a method for running 4+ Vega at full speed while mining XMR.

Basic Users:

1. Use the Blockchain drivers.
2. Open up your device manager.
3. Open up the "Display Adapters" dropdown.
4. Right click on one of your Vega's.
5. Disable it.
6. Wait a few seconds.
7. Right click on the Vega you just disabled.
8. Re-enable it.
9. Repeat steps 4-8 for the rest of your cards.
10. Enjoy mining at full speed with as many Vega as you damn well please. Probably.

Advanced Users:

The previously described process is a bit of a pain in the ass. Let's automate it.

New Procedure

1. Get your hands on the Windows Device Console (Devcon.exe). This will let you disable/enable devices from console.
2. Create a batch file in the same folder as devcon.exe with the following lines in it:

devcon.exe enable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F"
3. This will selectively disable/enable all the Vega cards you currently have in your system. Thanks to bytiges for noting that killing all the display adapters might not be a good idea for those using iGPU.
4. Run the batch file as an administrator at login, or whenever you lose hashrate on your cards. Enjoy never having to toggle the HBCC switch again.

Outdated Procedure

1. Get your hands on the Windows Device Console (Devcon.exe). This will let you disable/enable devices from console.
2. Run the command devcon.exe FindAll * to generate a list of all the currently attached devices and their hardware IDs.
3. Search your newly generated list for "Radeon RX Vega." You should find something like this:

4. The part to the left of the colon is what you need. Shocking, I know. Put that thing into a batch file that looks something like this:

Q: So, Mythic, how exactly does this enable HBCC on cards 5-7?

A: It doesn't! HBCC Does nothing to improve your hashrate! Turns out the drivers are just shit and are bugged when Windows first boots up. Who would have guessed?

Q: But Mythic, does that mean I don't need 16 GB of ram to run my cards at full speed?

A: Correct! 4 GB of ram is completely sufficient!

However I'm using 2 Vega56 just 1 is unable to switch HBCC.
I tried your manual method disabled "HBCC non-switchable Vega56" got exclamation mark on it. Then it couldn't be enable...
To see Radeon setting aimed Vega was missing same as turn on/off HBCC.
I've already clean uninstall driver AMD/DDU and reinstall blockchain driver several times.
running on Win10 64, ASRock H270 Pro4, 8GB DDR4 mem, 16GB vmem, Celeron G3930, SSD 120GB

Hope someone knows solution!

Yea I ended up downloading it from that site and works great. I finally managed to get 6 vega 64s hashing around 1950 each @ 1120W out the wall. I did notice however that one of my cards (GPU5) keeps fluctuating from 1500-1900 while the rest stay fairly steady around 1900s. Has anyone else experience this? I noticed the same thing when I had only 4 cards running.

Managed to make vega give average 2kh/s in xmr-stak. Started gpu-z, to check temperatures and there are are some options active in GPU-z, for one of 4 Vegas that are not active for other 3. I just started gpu-z 4 times, I have not selected any other options. I wonder is it gpu-z bug or I have done something different for that one vega, which by the way I cannot make to use lower voltage using the same setting as for other 3 Vega 56 (all 4 are Vega 56 Gigabyte).

i got my devcon.exe from kmsauto that i installed in 2015, search for it on system disk may be you have one already

Hello. 8 Vega64 will work with ssd 120 GB?
I read that you need at least 15GB swap file for 1 VEGA. So you need a ssd 200-240 GB for 8Vega?

I have been using 8GB (8192 MB) per GPU. Any lower than that, and Windows itself starts having issues while mining. So 65536 MB for 8x Vega should be fine.
