guys what do you think about this setup ? (i'm willing to update to 4 gpu's) :
ASRock H81 PRO
I3 2100
2x SAPPHIRE RX VEGA 64 8G HBM2 (willing to add 2 more vega later)
THERMALTAKE SMART-SE 730W Modular 80Plus Bronze (i'll add a second one whene i add 2 more vega later)
8gb RAM
SSD 120gb

I would also suggest you get a bigger drive if you can.  If you plan on running full nodes for whatever crypto you mine and I guarantee you'll probably try a couple of different ones in a few months, you'll run out of space real quick.

I have 6 bloody Gigabyte Vega 56 flashed to gigabyte air 64 bios the are driving me mad!  Two of them managed to run miraculously on Asus x370 board with ryzen 1600 cpu. using oldcomers more power 142 fixed reg , p7:1408/875  P3:1100/850 . have been running for a month now at 1600-1700h, don't bother touching them for any improvement!

However, the other bunch of 4 is crashing on everything I throw at them- none of the helae regs work! the Oldcomers one with the working config as used on the x370 board doesn't work!  the vegamining.blogspot.sg recipe doesn't work!
board is Gigabyte z270p-d3 , g4560 cpu, 16gb ram.  2x Vegas put in the first and third 16x slots.  win 10 pro 1703. blockchain driver aug 23

what the hell is wrong with GB Vega 56 batches?  I see people I the forum  running several of them successfully, used their overdriventool setting, instant crash!

Did anyone successfully flash other bios on those damn Gigabytes?

First thing I would do, assuming your motherboard bios is up to date:  go online to the Microsoft site and download/apply the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10.  It seems unlikely that 4 different cards would all be bad.

The Helae Reg mods didn't work for me either.  Oldcomer's "fixed" mod from pt 2 of this YouTube video was better.  Best I found was the one offered by user brnstead on this forum.

So I'm bad luck then, I have 4 gigabyte vega 56. Overclocking SOC to 1200 not working stable, miner stops working, miner freezes, pc freezes. Tried setting those numbers from C0,D4,01 to 38,C1,01 (for 1,15Ghz) but no luck SOC stays 1200 (1999). Increased Voltage for both GPU and memory, it works like stable, get about 2% more h/s but get about 12% compute error, which I never seen before.

In the end I really dont even care about the extra 50h but I'm curious why the fck it does not work on Gigabytes.

Identical cards. Works like a charm on Sapphires on high mhz and low voltages. Does not work at all on Gigabytes.

On GB cards I can get the SoC to work on 1200mhz with my own reg files but then I am limited to 950mv minimum.

What gives ?

Did you use Gigabyte BIOS files?

No' used generic AMD but they should be all exactly the same. Will try one tosay just to be sure.

What limits your own reg file to 950mv?

To be honest - I dont know. Just wont work below that. It's a mystery to me why Rednows works on some cards as well.

I can tell what 30% of the entries in PowerPlay do. Rest is still a mystery and never had the time to really dig into it.

If I get the time I might start to compare Rednows differences in the reg.

Fixed the offsets today and also tried Gigabytes own bios.Still no go.

Took a look at the bioses from different AIBs. They are actually different  Undecided

Also BTW !!!

The newest drivers dont include a PowerPlayTable in the registry. Kind a bad news for the long run Cry

Hi guys, I need a little advice
I flashed my Vega 56 to 64 and applied the 1050hbm reg file.
I tried changing the GPU core and voltage in overdrive.
I can’t find any config that keeps it stable. My mem is stable but I can’t get the core to stabilize.
My most stable was 1480/980mv for core and 1080/900mv for hbm.

There are 2 indicators that make me believe that my gpu is not stable.
1. The lights near the 8 pins are flashing every few seconds.
2. In GPUz at sensor page when you look at the core clock graph it keeps fluctuating.

At every fluctuation Hashrate instantly drops to 1400-1600 and comes back to 1800+

It seems that I need to mod the SOC clock to be higher than 1107 but I can’t seem to mod the reg files.

I have the same issue with one of my vegas too

Fixed it by using xmr-stak-amd
Vega 56 flashed to 64 @160w 50C
2016/1800
I get 1990h with 1408/920 core 1150/900 mem 1999 soc

Running rock solid for the past 4hrs

Question?
Did anybody try to flash vega56 BIOS on VEGA 64? What were the results?
I know that it is going in the opposite direction of what people usually do, but my 64 card is slightly noisy plus uses too much power.
I hope to tame it with 56 BIOS.

You can get Vega 64 GPU but no good quality PSU?? anyway, check out this list for PSU http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html , but I wouldn't recommend to put a high end GPU on a bronze efficiency PSU... the cpu doesn't matter for Vegas, you can choose the cheapest you can get, and 8GB RAM is more than enough for GPU mining...btw, that motherboard is DDR3 SDRAM compatible, DDR4 won't fit into it... also I recommend this site for your Vega 64 rig setup https://vegamining.blogspot.com
thank you so much ,what do you think about this psu THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER DPS G RGB 1050W PLATINIUM ? can it handle 4 vega 64 ?

Yes, that is a very good PSU, and after mods one Vega 64 pulling about 150W so I would say it can handle 4 Vega...

I finally managed to increase SOC clock, but my gpu clock is still bouncing around. My mem stabilized at 1150

thanks guys ,i'll change the cpu and the psu
unfortunately it's too hard to find a good psu in my country ,so i'm asking maybe a psu with certified bronze can do the work ,also i heared that vega gpus need a good amount of ram and a good cpu to run stable ,is that right ?

for xmr-stak-amd:

Code:
"gpu_threads_conf" : [
    { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
    { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1736, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
    { "index" : 1, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
    { "index" : 1, "intensity" : 1736, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
    { "index" : 2, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
    { "index" : 2, "intensity" : 1736, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
],

as sugested by hellae on Redit. Getting on average 1925H/S
When using autoconfig for xrm-stak (aio) I get about 2500h/s total for 4 cards. When using above config in xrm-stak I get about 1800h/s per card.
By trial and error, managed to get 7600 (+- 10) H/s using this config
Code:
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "index" : 1, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "index" : 1, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "index" : 2, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "index" : 2, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "index" : 3, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "index" : 3, "intensity" : 1960, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
Have not tested it for longer periods, so I don't know if its stable. But still less than older version.

Anyone using new all-in-one xmr-stak? I have compiled it, but with disabled CPU and Nvidia backend. Getting about 100h/s less per vega 56, compared to old xmr-stak-amd when using same intensity for threads.

What stak config do u use?
