Hi guys, I need a little advice
I flashed my Vega 56 to 64 and applied the 1050hbm reg file.
I tried changing the GPU core and voltage in overdrive.
I can’t find any config that keeps it stable. My mem is stable but I can’t get the core to stabilize.
My most stable was 1480/980mv for core and 1080/900mv for hbm.

There are 2 indicators that make me believe that my gpu is not stable.
1. The lights near the 8 pins are flashing every few seconds.
2. In GPUz at sensor page when you look at the core clock graph it keeps fluctuating.

At every fluctuation Hashrate instantly drops to 1400-1600 and comes back to 1800+

It seems that I need to mod the SOC clock to be higher than 1107 but I can’t seem to mod the reg files.

On stock vega 56s (stock bios), what are the best wattman settings without the reg edits?  I've been messing around with some of my cards and while some handle 950Mhz well, one of the cards can barely stay stable at 920.  Most of the other settings are all dynamic, but I'd like to change that.

Thanks.

GPU Freq:  -30
Mem Freq: 950 Mhz
Set your fan to manual and @3000 rpm min
Powerlimit -20%

You should get around 1800hs on cryptonight coins and 39+MHS on Eth and be stable at around 50 degrees on an air cooled card

Thanks, that's pretty much what I have, except my powerlimit is at +15% (and I've been playing with maxing it out to +50% with only a 10-20 hash rate/s increase).  Doesn't seem to be worth it.  Running right now at +5% and getting solid 2k hashrate (48 hours stable now) on Gigabyte cards.  Sapphire, however, freezes up when set to 950MHz, had to scale it down to 910Mhz, and it's hashing 1920 h/s stable.  All cards are running at 65C though, not 50s when ambient temp is about 20-22C.  Fan speeds are at 2k min, current at 3.3k all of them.

i flashed my saff vega 56  to liquid 64 bios, also use rednow soft PP reg mod.
its hit 2000+h/s,thanks but,GPU-Z show GPUcore Voltage 1.2v.
i set 900mv manually, but same why  Huh Huh Huh

Well this is not good to hear. I've got four Sapphires running great. My two new Gigabyte 56s just arrived.... Will let you know if I have same issues....

For what it's worth, I have 5/6 Gigabytes working great and 0/1 Sapphires doing the same. Not sure mfr is too important. Even for as many folks that have trouble with Powercolor, there are several people having a great experience. Don't sweat it too much just yet.

Guys,

Im running some vega 56, I flashed it to the 64 bios, and did the 1100 powerplay reg files. It hashes fine at 1900, but I can not get the power to come down Its still using 200+ watts per card, what if anything can I do to reduce the power draw..I saw people running at 130-150 watts per card how do  you lower the power down and still get goo hash.

thanks

So I'm bad luck then, I have 4 gigabyte vega 56. Overclocking SOC to 1200 not working stable, miner stops working, miner freezes, pc freezes. Tried setting those numbers from C0,D4,01 to 38,C1,01 (for 1,15Ghz) but no luck SOC stays 1200 (1999). Increased Voltage for both GPU and memory, it works like stable, get about 2% more h/s but get about 12% compute error, which I never seen before.

In the end I really dont even care about the extra 50h but I'm curious why the fck it does not work on Gigabytes.

Identical cards. Works like a charm on Sapphires on high mhz and low voltages. Does not work at all on Gigabytes.

On GB cards I can get the SoC to work on 1200mhz with my own reg files but then I am limited to 950mv minimum.

What gives ?

What limits your own reg file to 950mv?

@rednow, what are the default values with your mod? Can you share an overdriventool screenshot too Smiley ?
My reg-file mod is based on vega54 liquid bios.
Only changes are to set "greyed" low power state voltages to 900mV (905 or 910 if you are a silicon lottery loser) and increase SoC clock to 1200.
All other settings are done in OverdriveNtool as I wrote before.
I didn't touch gpu or mem clocks in power play at all.

Took a look at your reg file and the offsets are completely different from what most are using. On my  Vega64 it works like a charm with the SoC overclock while still keeping VDDC under 950mv, never seen that before  Smiley

On my vega56's flashed to 64 bioses it doesnt work at all. The offsets are all wrong and they will immediately crash at any Mhz/VDDC combination. Interesting, it's the exact same bios but they still act differently  Roll Eyes

Make sure your vega56 is flashed with vega64 LIQUID! bios

Still hates it. The vega 64 works fine with air bios.

Ok did some further testing today. Either I got super lucky with my Sapphire cards or Gigabyte outright sucks ass as always....

Works on every Sapphire card. Works on none of my Gigabyte cards. Using the exact same bios on all of them. Fuck, refrence design should be identical....

Yes, but it's not related to soc. Tried everything, but not managed to make it work as other 3 cards using same settings (Vega_64_Reg_GPU_0000-1100HBM.reg). Tried directly on mb without risers, only that card plugged, fresh installed OS, still no change. Managed to make it use lower voltage (same as other 3 cards) only using MorePowerVega64_142_Modded_fix.reg file, but then I get about 200h/s less.

Modified SOC to 1200, seams to be working, so far, without penalty with bonus. Getting about 50 h/s more per card, no increase in power usage.

Seems that third card downvolt didn't work (1v)

Iam now trying to get max stable Point for every single Card. Vega56@65 Air Bios with reg from RednoW. Is it normal that every Change in OverdriveNTool to Voltage Settings results in a mem reset to 800mhz? What iam doing wrong?
I don't know what exactly you are doing. My mod is for vega64 liquid bios and the only steps I do on OverdriveNtool I described earlier.
Are you using Air Cooled GPUs or watercooled? Your Settings run for about 10min at 2k Hashrate and then Windows freezes. I have a strange Feeling flashing 64 LC Bios to 56 AC Card  Undecided

I'm using vega56 air with vega64lc bios without any problems. One thing - all my vega56 are sapphire from one batch ... maybe other v56 can work not so good.
But I helped some persons (that was my greedy 0.4eth payed consultations) with v56 too and nobody complain ))

I'm gonna try your settings when i break apart my rig again Cheesy

My cards (both vega 64 and vega 56 flashed with vega64 bios) are running perfectly stable 1408/1150@875mV for a weeks. Clocks aren't floating at all. Power usage ~150watt for Vega56 and ~160watt for Vega64. Speed is 2kh/s for Vega 56 and 2.07kh/s for Vega64. I'm using 23aug drivers and softpowerplay reg mod + overdriveNtool.

Could you please link or upload your Softpowerplay reg file? When i try to use one of the 3 reg files from the Guide a get a green screen at Windows Start. Dont know why, maybe someone has an idea

It's nothing special, guys

Then set P7 state to 1408@900mV and P6 to 1560@900mV with OverdriveNtool. Mem P3 to 1150@900mV

First I connected the vega 56@64, installed the driver, then replaced it with 64, I think it's somehow related. After rebooting hashrate drops to 2000 and that would get 2500 I need to remove the driver, insert the vega 56 and so on

I cannot reproduce ... I swaped rizer cables between my flashed vega56=>vega64aio and native vega64aio. Speed stays the same, 2k for v56 and 2.07k for v64

I tried your bios softplay mod and your settings on my Vega 64 aircooled, the system is stable, but when I start to mine, the mining software just freezes after the login phrase (both xmr-stak and CAST xmr)...
