Turns out I must apologize. The Box of Fans isn't a Box of Fans at all as this new picture shows

It's a box of fans and space(rs).

Well, hope dies last...

For me the indicators are clear enough to write off my bitcoins.

All that has apparently happened is Tom is stressed out and many people are asking for refunds. That doesn't mean that there are no ASICs being produced; a buyout would result in a new company completing and selling the products.
Read the last messages! There are indications that there never was an ASIC and all BTC payers are screwed.

LukasBradley: you might want to clarify what "discern any value whatsoever" means, as its a bit cryptic to me. I assume you're saying you weren't able to find evidence that the business has any valuable assets beyond other people's preorder money?
I'll be back online later to answer on the forum.
gmaxwell: Correct.
That does NOT mean assets don't exist.  IE- chips or designs.
I jsut means that I was unable to get them from Tom.

Tom allegedly didn't turn up to the meeting. There were indications that he was too stressed to hand over the project that he had poured his metaphorical soul into for all these months.

This certainly does not mean that there are no ASICs, or that bASIC is "out".

Now, apply the same pattern to BFL: We are screwed! I've written off my money paid to btcfpga and bfl - there will be no product and no refund. For me, the bitcoin mining topic is finished before it even started. Sad

Can you please provide your credentials?

Looky, I take it you're new here so let me explain in a few words how BTC finance works. There's the scammer tag which prevents a minority of small time investors from giving the scammer any credence, and then there's the "MPOE-PR called it out", which isn't a tag per se but which nevertheless prevents a majority of big time investors from ever considering you. That is all.

That thread or the post on btcfpga? I've been following the events, and I want to you to explain why you think it's "out".

All that has apparently happened is Tom is stressed out and many people are asking for refunds. That doesn't mean that there are no ASICs being produced; a buyout would result in a new company completing and selling the products.

My skim of this latest info seems to indicate that Tom basically has nothing to buy in terms of progress toward an ASIC.  Thus, a 'buyout' would not really do much to competition in the ASIC space.

I've long suspected that BFL is in the same category (limited or no technical progress), and while I've not committed it to writing (that I remember), I wondered if Tom recognized BFL as a scam and also that he was in a pretty good position to get in on the action.  Avalon I actually have some hope for, and if they ship anything in early 2013 it will have been about a year earlier than I theorized as likely.  Better yet, it will likely foster competition because it will show that such a thing is within reach, and also there is probably some room to improve on their initial implementation.

February 2013 is the next extension of the delay.

They didn't actually provide a hard date though; they suggested they would get chips this month, and obviously they can't assemble and test all of the units overnight.

Nice taking things out of context again PuertoLibre, you really are a skilled liar.  The 4 - 6 weeks comment was for ALL preorders to be shipped and done.  And I didn't even say it!  It's like, literally in the text you screen captured and you can't even read it. Idiot.

Can you stop replying to that guy please?
It would make my ignore on him more effective.
kthnx.

I admit, I cannot:

Get serious sums of cash and keep people separated from it for months on end. No, perhaps for a half year or more.

To do that it takes serious skill that I cannot muster. I am inferior to you my king of lies. (just kidding)

I am thinking of converting into an Inaba. I might just have to bump heads or something so I can become a shill. I will even say it in thee most sarcastic ways humanly possible.

----------------

I have known Inaba for all of 3 months. I have never found that man to lie. He is a saint. His customers are just terrible at reading! You see, they confuse easily.

Surely this man has been more forthcoming than any Vendor!

I will now change my avatar to an BFL one. For I loathe those "Avalon" guys who take the glory and wind out of Inabas sails. How dare they even bother to ship ahead of schedule? People like that should know that none can be first to market except for BFL.

Nay, they are all scammers! They are going to rob you blind. Get your refunds immediately.

Avalon said they didn't want long queues for exactly this reason.

End of the month (estimation only) to begin shipping = February 2013.

Now add 4 to 6 weeks....and you get Mid-March to April 2013 to complete pre-orders.

If Josh said it, it must be true?

P.S. For those living under a rock, we are currently approaching Mid-January

To answer this question:  Do you really want me to provide you an update like this?  It requires basically zero thought or effort to make MPOE-PR look stupid and I can do it in 5 minutes.  The update I want to put together requires some thought, effort and formatting, so I can provide useful information.  If you'd rather have a useless update post, I'll be happy to provide, however, be aware that when the throngs start complaining, I'm going to send them to you for an explanation, you good with that?

Just noticed that there's a sort-of update in the shout-box on BFL forums - I suspect you'll be following up on it soon so it doesn't become another one of those Chinese whispers things like people somehow getting the idea that you were shipping 14 January did.  You know - of course - that no matter how carefully you word your update it will still end up being mis-interpreted .   Grin

A month to ship 300 units?  Why would it take them that long?

I bet all 300 will be shipped within a week.

Dunno thought I read that somewhere.  I don't have anything but speculation to back that up... our good friend PuertoLibre knows all about speculation, I'm sure he can answer it.  Even if they ship their first batch in it's entirety, it's less than 20 TH/s.  Yeah, not great, but hardly a catastrophic event.
