Education would help a lot. Maybe more cartoons like Captain Planet.

Some people are doing a lot. More than enough for one person, but the vast majority of people are not going to care about the effects that we have on the planet. They rather watch tv, relax and play their video games on the Here Now. (Little play on my name.) Can't really blame many because they're just so distracted by their life struggles.

I we were to take it literally, then the planet does not need saving-- we're just like fleas living in a large organism. But as I believe that you mean saving the planet's organic nature and environment, then no, no we are not. It's quite sad that while there are lots of people who are doing their parts to save the environment, there are like a million more that either damage the environment more or just don't care.

However, even then, we should not stop trying to save the Earth. There is no planet B (for now at least), and id we want to survive as a species, we should start protecting the environment more.

It is really hard for "us" to save the planet, the real ones damaging it are big corporations destroying it, yes we can help the case by not using plastic and what not, but the change must come from above.

The planet doesn't need saving.  It's a rock that's been here long before plastic and will be here long after all the plastic is degraded into dust.  And through out the earth's entire existence the climate has been changing.  Stop the HUMAN ego trip.  You aren't that important, on a geological scale of time.

Earth is indeed a rock, but it is our duty to protect it and respect it. Also, it is not just the use of plastic that is harming the planet, its a lot of things. Do you mean that this does not concern you at all?

Quite the contrary, I care very much.  I'm fond of our planet, its natural beauty, the woods, the jungles, and all if its animals.  I want very much to preserve the quality life we enjoy.  I reuse, recycle, compost, plant trees, grow vegetables, and I just purchase a solar panel system to install on my roof.

But semantics matter.  We don't get to save the planet anymore than we get to destroy it. We can boil the ocean, fill the atmosphere with CO2, we may all suffocate and die, we may obliterate all vegetation, but the planet will still be here, and it's climate will continue to change.

For every one person that is working to save the planet, there are one million who don't give a damn, or think their god will intervene...  :/

Exactly. Like I said, it is sad that a lot of people just do not care about what is going on right now. Climate change, all of those things. It is real and we are responsible for the earth's deterioration but not many of us care to do something about it.

What you really mean is ' Can we save the human population'. As has been mentioned, nature will compensate for any changes that occur, but that may be detrimental to the human race. So to answer the spirit of the question, we are doing the wrong things. For example, the politicians are pushing the idea of electric cars to give them increased control over motorists, but electric cars just export pollution, they don't decrease it.  Innovations like the opposed piston diesel engine are far more constructive. Another useful idea is to stop chopping down trees to feed electricity generation plants.

Can we save the human population? I dont think so, but you are right. We are doing things wrong. Despite the technology rising and advancing, its the environment that suffers. Sadly, some of us are in denial about whatever is happening.

While infrastructure and technology keeps advancing, our natural resources suffer. Sure there are people who tries to save our planet by diving into the water and collecting trash, or encouraging anyone to recycle or stop using plastic. But is it enough? If it is, then why are we still experiencing climate change? Could this be the start of the destruction of our planet?

Stop fucking for 10 or 20 years. Population will reduce to manageable levels.

Other option warp drive build it and find some empty planets.

Last option terraform mars.

We all know number one is not happening.
Number two will not happen unless we are visited by aliens and they lay all the cards on the table.
Number three will happen but most likely only save a small percent of people when a crash happens here on earth
