I just met a friend while playing in a lottery called Keno. He is a good gambler and sometimes hits jackpots. As a pensioner with grown children, he is a heavy bettor. I noticed that he is a generous gambler. He uses half of his winnings to treat friends, neighbors, and relatives every time he wins. He does this to invite good karma and since he acknowledges his gambling addiction, people who know him don't question him.

One of his friends asked him why he kept betting instead of saving so he would have something when he needed it.

His answer was straightforward,
Quote
'I am betting so when I win I can share half of my winnings with my friends and relatives who need money like you.
' I was surprised by his answer. His friends felt guilty for asking him. Some gamblers are that generous to avoid questions about their gambling activities and to continue gambling.

How about you? Are you generous and if so, why are you generous?

In my case, I am a little generous because winning is a blessing that should be shared. However, I will not make people feel guilty when I give an amount from my blessing.

I am quite surprised that are still people like this one who has a really noble aim in gambling.I of course do not gamble to give 50% of winning to friends but I play to win more money so I can fulfill even better my family desires and if that comes true with the money remaining I can give some to my parents, this is where my generousity comes to an end as I don't have "real" friends.I don't because in the times we live there is no real time for friendship.

Even if I was not a gambler, even if I'm at losing moment, I'll always try to help others who need money especially if the money is needed for urgent thing.
This is what I learnt from my parents, although they are not rich but they always try to help others in their financial limits.
We do not need to be that generous, our will to help is more than enough to show that we care about others and do not even look at the value.
Looking at the statement of your friends where he is betting so can share when he is winning, how if he is losing most of the time?
Will he still be generous enough to help without the winning from his betting activity?

Remember, winning is a bonus, not a guarantee. It's all about chance, so don't get your hopes up too high. If you score a win, awesome! Celebrate it, but don't let it go to your head. Think of it like finding a cool rock on the beach – a nice surprise, but not your life's purpose.
Yes, in essence, winning at gambling should not be used as a benchmark as a life goal because we cannot always win at gambling. If we look at the statistics of playing gambling, we will definitely realize that there are more losses than wins, isn't gambling always won by the bookie and we don't always win? always win, so why consider gambling as a way to earn money just to be generous to the people around us. what you say is true, winning should be considered a bonus.

Gambling does not guarantee that we can get what we want because success can only be obtained from common methods such as doing business or work, gambling is not a guarantee of being able to get money, after all, to be generous you don't have to wait to win gambling, if we get a bonus from our salary because working or getting profits from doing business, we can share it with other people or anyone because we don't have to win at gambling, the point is that gambling is not a benchmark for people to be generous because it can be done in other ways.

I'm a gambler myself but I never spend my gambling income to support a family rather I lose more than the amount I earn from gambling. But I wouldn't say that I am a generous person but I do donate some of my gambling income to an old age home. Although initially I got a good amount of profit from gambling but lately I have been losing a lot of money due to which I have not been able to donate to the old age home for the past few months. But if I win a big jackpot I will donate 70% of my jackpot to the nursing home and the remaining 30% I will keep in my gambling balance so that I can continue gambling later.
Makes you a generous one since yiu include giving to them on your plans. It won't be a problem if a gambler is not considering sharing of gambling profit simply because it is not easy to win in the first place. To some gamblers, profit in gambling is only for them to enjoy and that's just fine. Why? Do people around you share the same loss you suffer whenever you are unlucky? Sharing is always done with one's initiative but will never be something that will be required to every gambler, as others have mentioned and as we all know. Let us be fair. I knew someone who won big time in lottery. She let me know about it and for my first impression, I was a bit inspired and envious but never expected her to share anything from me. I won't like it in the first place to get things easily and prefer working hard for it.

Generosity comes in many ways just like with kindness. If you really feel treating other people around you after a win then that would be better but if it is out of your consideration then things will still be the same. As long as you did not get something from them to reach your goal then you owe anyone a reward.

In my case, I am a little generous because winning is a blessing that should be shared. However, I will not make people feel guilty when I give an amount from my blessing.

As far as I remember, I've never won a significant amount of money to share with family or friends, so I can't say whether or not I'm a generous player.
However, my desire, if I win a large amount of money one day, is to help some of the people closest to my family, and I think that everyone who has a joint family would probably do the same.

As for friends, what I say is: Choose people well and know how to differentiate true friends from people who take advantage, because I've had experiences of people who called themselves my friends while we were living in "good times" but at the first difficulty they ended up abandoning me or judging my actions. .

I believe that it is much more worthwhile to use the money you earn to pay for a party or trip with your friends so that everyone (including you) can enjoy the moment together than to give money to them.

Gambling can be a blast, a way to unwind and maybe even win some cash (bonus!). But it's important to remember it's all about fun, not fortune. Treat it like a leisure activity, something you do for kicks in your free time, not a job with guaranteed returns.

That's why you gotta set boundaries. Just like you wouldn't eat ice cream all day, don't gamble all your time or money. Decide on a budget and stick to it, and don't chase losses – chasing rainbows ain't gonna work.

Remember, winning is a bonus, not a guarantee. It's all about chance, so don't get your hopes up too high. If you score a win, awesome! Celebrate it, but don't let it go to your head. Think of it like finding a cool rock on the beach – a nice surprise, but not your life's purpose.

From your comments you are a naturally generous person but winning big will make you give more. I am also surprised that you have even made plans on how to give out your funds to the needy if you win big. I will not say that I am a generous gambler but I will also offer assistance to people who are in need. I have not had any plan to give to the needy if I will big but I have plans to invest the money in a venture. Maybe if I have more, I will be more generous, and winning big might also make me give more.

Generosity has nothing to do with gambling, with being an astronaut, with being a millionaire, with being lucky enough to win a big prize, generosity is something that is in you, it doesn't matter if you have the last dollar left in your pocket, if you see that someone is missing $1, hand it over.
Giving indeed has nothing to do with gambling, however, we have some well-known generous gamblers in my area. These gamblers will always share some of their wins with people or even fellow gamblers. They might give out items like drinks or even cash to people around immediately after they win big. Everyone knows them in my area as gamblers who are generous.

I don't know, this crazy mania of some to bring certain stories to the field of betting, which, due to their gray nuances in relation to the topic of this board, end up being the way for many to have something to say on  gambler/gambling,! but not to the game in essence of the bet, it's like not knowing anything about football, zero, but you know Messi!

Generosity has nothing to do with gambling, with being an astronaut, with being a millionaire, with being lucky enough to win a big prize, generosity is something that is in you, it doesn't matter if you have the last dollar left in your pocket, if you see that someone is missing $1, hand it over.

Generosity is closely related to abundance, of course in abundance it is easy to be generous.

I choose sometimes. I chose this because it depends on what I have😅

I am not a gambling addict, nor do I gamble with a lot of money. So my winnings are also small. However, if I get a big win when playing slots or sports betting, I will certainly treat my friends. However, because this rarely happens, I only do this when I get the jackpot or more money 😅

Looking for karma or not, it's best to do good things sincerely, according to the popular term "What you sow is what you reap." Doing good will come back to each of us, isn't that the law?

it depends on how much you profit from the casino. if we just win huge profits i would be sending my money to my cousin who asked if he could loan some cash from me. unfortunately, i couldn't just withdraw some BTC for him. it's an investment that i hold on to.

but there was a time i shared my winning with 3 kids who were also at the food stand where i'm eating. i can see they share one plate so i bought another 2 for them. i could say i'm sometimes generous  Grin

Depends on our actual situation and conditions 😅

Kindness is immeasurable and does not have to be towards fellow humans, to animals or plants, it is also a good action if we do not harm the animal. However, according to fate, no matter how good we are to someone or the environment, if luck and fate say otherwise, maybe we won't get a win or jackpot in our lifetime 😅

No, in my case I am not. Sometimes I invite friends or family to something, a few beers for example, but because I feel like it that day, not because I've won, and even less do I consider doing it constantly every time I win as in the OP's example. If it were a large amount, thousands of dollars or more, like when you win a small prize in the lottery, yes, I would surely invite, but as an exceptional thing, as exceptional as the prize.
Well you have a point, sometimes It's better to keep in ourself that we won in gambling to avoid the demands of others who know. we know that it is a trend to ask for money from those who win in gambling. So, what if the prize you have won is not that big, then you will not be able to give money to other people.
That means we should hide our winnings from other people, especially if we know that there will be demands from other people to ask for a share of our winnings later. If that happens, many people will ask for a share and we won't be able to enjoy the winning money. In this case, it's better if we don't say anything to the people around us, but we can say it to people close to us, our wives or family members. But it has nothing to do with other people and they also can't force us to give them a share of the winnings we get. But yeah, there are people like that in our environment.

True, if the amount of winnings is not too large and maybe only enough for your own needs then obviously it is better to keep it a secret from others, especially our friends, but if the winnings are very large then I think there is nothing wrong with telling one of our friends at least to enjoy together because on the other hand this can also increase solidarity between friends which is also very likely when they get a win for example they will also definitely remember us. Honestly, I always do this but I choose only to one friend who really knows thanks and this is really useful because on the other hand when I don't have money to gamble sometimes my friends always come to share a small portion of their winnings that I can use for anything one of them for gambling.

On the other hand, if you really intend to keep it a secret then try to really keep it a secret, don't let your winnings be known by anyone, especially friends because what is feared is that they will definitely talk about you behind by saying that you are one of the stingy friends or whatever the point is negative things just because they don't get a share of your winnings, and not infrequently because of this friendship relationships can become bad. So even though the actual victory is entirely our right but sometimes there are friends who are too demanding until it becomes a problem.

Generosity with gambling money can also be look at as a waste of money, it's not easy to win in gambling, if you lose no one will help you, if been generosity with your money is what brings in more luck then those who gives won't end up going broke, there are many givers in this world that turned broke because they gave away their money easily, and when all that is done no one decided to help them back.

I am not advising you to be a stone hearted person, but be careful how to give up money, it looks good and probably feels good when you help others but don't forget that too much of helping others can bring you down easily, now in gambling, if you win money you don't have to give half of your money away, I don't care how big the money can be, maybe that's the best shot you have in changing the story of not just you but your whole family? Be wise.

When you win, it's not the end for your gambling activities, you can throw most of the money you won in a bank account, and focus of your small risks in gambling, there are days that I don't do gambling because I can't afford it, and if there is some money that I won I can take few percentage from that and risk it in gambling again.

Personally, it depends on how many wins I get. If the win is large then I will probably share my happiness with my friends and family, but if I win a small amount then I will use the winnings for my own needs.
Well, you have the same thoughts as me and most gamblers will do this depending on the winnings they get, big wins will of course be able to have fun with their family members or close friends.
But there are also some gamblers who don't care whether it big win or small win, they will still use it personally and there are several reasons that cannot be said regarding this.
But what is clear and what I often encounter is that family members don't really like gambling so they don't receive any proceeds from gambling and when something like this happens it is clear that gambler will hide his winnings from all family members.

Quote
Honestly, there is no harm in sharing our happiness after winning with our closest friends or family, because that is good behavior and we need to remember that we also need to save from the winnings, even if only a part or a small amount.
Obviously that is not wrong and is use of winnings that can be said to be quite good, after all, by giving them all the happiness of our winnings, we indirectly gamble not harming other people but also giving them pleasure.
Thinking about being able to meet personal needs is also something that needs to be done because in gambling we still have to maintain good financial stability.

What about me? If my luck was good, I'd be the nicest gambler!!! I should say that most of my game stories are about "near wins" rather than jackpots.

I gamble more for fun than to make money. It would be great to win, but based on past performance, I think I would be better off using lottery tickets as bookmarks. In spite of this, I enjoy the game, the companionship, and the rare times when luck seems to be on my side.

I admire your friend's kindness and beliefs, but I risk in a different way. I dont play to make money; I play for fun, and my kindness makes everyone happy. I believe that sharing a laugh and good vibes is more valuable than a quick win.

I may have it sometimes, because it depends on the moment when the winnings are needed for some enjoyment or sometimes I play the winnings to increase my investment assets which have been running for a long time. In this case, when I win big, I divide it into 2 options, namely the first is to give some tips to several friends to choose to bet or take it for myself. Second, I allocate the remaining portion of the winnings to invest in several other projects that I am working on or if everything is fulfilled, I put it into Bitcoin accumulation because this way, besides me doing DCA, I have additional funds to buy more.

From gambling results, we also need to have our own way of utilizing it and so far I have done the trick as above.

I've heard about this countless time before, gambling as it's own karma, something to do with the spiritual world that we can't see, if you win money and you give them up to those that are in need it's a blessing, some said it's a good way to keep inviting luck to your side and some said it brings good karma, I think they are both the same.

Come to think of it, I believe this is the way it should be, gambling isn't a job or a business, you are not breaking sweat climbing so high to fix a roof or anything, it's a game of luck and if you get blessed in gambling you should do all the necessary things like what OP is saying to keep good vibe and luck on your side.

Apart from gambling I like helping those in need, I do this when I am capable, not all the time but when I have some extra cash I do help those around me, I know it's not a must but I feel good doing it, I want the best future for myself and I want the good karma for my offspring.

I consider myself generous when it comes to my friends and family. For most of my life I have lived in the streets and I know how hard life is so whenever someone needs help, I won't hesitate to help as long as it is within my capacity to do so.
The same goes for my gambling profits. Whenever I feel like my profits are enough to treat my kids out, then I would take them to someplace where they can have more fun and eat and drink whatever they like.
When it comes to my neighbors, I usually treat them with a bottle of brandy and some food. But that's how far I would go, it's not like I would have a party or something. I am not a heavy bettor so I don't have that kind of capability to give out too much from my gambling profits but I also don't want to be selfish because I also believe in good karma and bad karma.
I've seen a lot of generous gamblers, especially in the chatbox after their big win where they give out tips or make trivia for a chance to be tipped. That I cannot do, I'd rather spend it with the people near me than the people in the chatbox of a gambling site who know nothing about me.

Let's say it like this, I would love to be a generous gambler if I ever manage to win the lottery or a big jackput. Unfortunately, I am really unlucky when it comes to playing the lottery and never won a decent sized jackpot yet. In gambling itself I am usually just playing the micro stakes, because it gives me the most gambling time for my money, and my winnings are not that big. The same goes for playing Poker, I am usually at the smaller blind table to play the most rounds for my money. So, my gambling winnings are quite small and I can't really go and treat my whole family for a restaurant dinner or something like that. Also I am still trying to build my gambling bankroll over time, so using my winnings to be generous to friends and family would hurt me in the long run. Whenever I manage to win big, I will be more than happy to treat all my family and friends for a nice meal.

Well, it's great to hear this kind of story. I'm amused by how generous your friend is, how he thinks, and his purpose in gambling. Maybe that's the reason why he often wins money or hits a jackpot—because he shares his fortune and winnings. But to answer the question, am I a generous gambler? Sometimes, because I'm not like your friend, I have little earnings or am not too rich to always give to others. To be practical, I will prioritise myself after others in the concept of money. I mean, I will prioritise saving up the money I get from gambling, or if I win a lot of jackpots, I will buy the things I want and need first and next for my family. I'm not an ungenerous person; maybe I just prioritise being practical first, as I'm not that rich or what. If yes, then why not? I'm more happy to help those really in need.
