Most people don't share your mindset. They still care about what a single bitcoin would be in terms of dollars.
what does 1BTC = 1BTC even mean???
every object has a price, and that price can be evaluated with something else which is usually fiat. so i don't see what is wrong with the mindset to care about bitcoin in terms of dollars.
It means that it dosent matter how much it worth in fiat .
Take this forum for example , there is a Donate page if you donate 10 or 50 BTC you will become either VIP or Donator member , and this forum exists for years . theymos decided to leave it with the current 10 - 50 BTC because it dosen't matter how much it worth in USD or Euro or any other currency , some people donated when it was worth few cents and some people are donating now when it worth thousands of dollars.
this is true if you want to use bitcoin as a nerdy tool to just play around. but if bitcoin were to be used as a currency for day to day uses like for example paying your rent, your paying your bills then you can not say that it doesn't matter.
the gas company will not take 10BTC if it is worth a few cents.
They would if we treat 1BTC as 1BTC
I mean look to the Dollar right now , what's the real value of 100$ bill (not sure if such a bill exists) , it's nothing .. It's just a piece of paper but that piece of paper have value because we believe it does and nothing else.
define real value first.
isn't value of any object a simple comparison? yes it is a piece of paper but when it becomes a Medium of exchange (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium_of_exchange) then it lets the value of goods to be assessed and rendered in terms of the intermediary.
so i don't see how we can not put a value to bitcoin and consider it a currency. it is like saying 1 Euro is 1 Euro and you shouldn't think of it in terms of dollars.
