When people ask, What do you do for a living? I have a full time job, but I also trade crypto-currency.  I do not like telling them about my currency and Bitcoin activities because when I tell people about trading currency online our relationship sometimes changes. They start scheming or they think "I can do that, better than you" and I suspect they want to secretly start trading too.

Does anybody relate to this?
I once been so open with my relatives what I do for a living ,they ask me all the time because they are seeing me all day all night on my room on my computer and yet I didnt starved even though i may look that im just playing video games,I once told them that I am trading online and doing some bounty hunt but they took it negatively they think that I do illegal things online for a living.I take it seriously though so I moved out and rent a home where i can work in peace and no more words to hear from anyone else. Now im so secretive about what I do only very few friends of mine knows and understand what I do for a living

In my case, I do tell them i’m trading but I let them research on it because not all people you tell about crypto will like it, they all have something to say and I don’t care so long as what i’m doing is right and i’m doing good in trading. For me, don’t let other peoples opinion affect you as long as your not stepping on anyone, you cannot please everyone as they say so just do what you think is right.
Right.Same with mine too. There are people who know that i'm into trading cryptocurrency but i never give them complete details about it.I just tell them to make a research if they want it too.Yes not all people agreed with what i'm doing so i just let them think what they want.In the end,no one would try to help me except for my own self.

"I buy and sell things online."

Done.
This question is about if you hide or reveal openly about your coins. I think there is no shame or disadvantage about revealing about your coins and talking about it with other crypto enthusiasts. I have been part of crypto for long and trade in Bitcoin and ETH. I plan to invest in BNB as well. This is something that encourages others as well to get in the crypto market and make money.
Unfortunately people you will be meeting asking you such questions are people that doesn’t even know much about crypto because If they knew, there is nothing that should make one feel uncomfortable or stressful in having the discussion, but the stressful part of it is when you are explaining it to those that doesn’t understand, and would still not see whatever you are doing as serious.

I think those are the people that op is referring to. If I meet people like that, I would better not tell them what I am into concerning cryptocurrency trading, because I will end up explaining what they would not understand within that short period of time, thereby wasting my time.

We have both the same characters. I also to have secrets in my trading. I buy coins and sell them at my own risk. I set up my indicators and analysis good only for me. For what? Not because I want to take advantage to others but I want to hush it so that I will not be blamed nor laughed when I lose a lot.
So what if they start trading? They are not going to claim your profits in trading. It is in fact an addition to the crypto market and the credit goes to you if you attract someone towards cryptocurrency trading and speculations. It will also make the crypto less alien and hence you would have an impact on the lives of people who would earn in crypto if they follow you into trading.
God bless you bro, because I see those who are not happy to share trading information with people as being greedy and self-centered. They should even be happy that they are coming to add their money to the marketcap, or are they happy the way the marketcap dropped from $800 billion dollars to $200 billion +.

Is it not now that we really need crypto adoption and awareness that we need to encourage people to trade cryptocurrency, because these are the activities we need to keep cryptocurrency market lively like forex market? So it shouldn’t be something we keep secret for something that does not affect our own income in anyway.

I don't tell anyone that I trade. I think no need to tell that to everyone, especially those who are not interested.
I love to talk about new things happening in crypto. Talking about the rise in the price of the coins I hodl makes me enjoy the situation and I do not think there is anything wrong with that. They also want to learn about how crypto works and wish to invest in Bitcoin some day. I have never been secretive about the coins I have in my wallet. It is because I am a long term HODLER.

That honestly sounds like a touch of paranoia on your part--but on the other hand, I don't know what people you're talking about.  If I told friends/family/coworkers that I'm into crypto (and I have), the last thing on my mind would be that they'd jump in and compete with me.  In fact, I'm usually met with complete indifference when I mention bitcoin to people.

As far as being secretive, I'm not.  I think I should be more discreet about my dealings, though, simply because there are so many scammers around and I just never know who to trust.  That's on the internet, though.  In real life, I don't care who I tell.  Nobody I know owns any crypto and quite a few of the people I've mentioned it to have barely even heard of it.

Exactly. There should be no hiding about what coin you have invested in and what coins do you plan to invest in. I think if you tell people about the coin you HODL, it will not affect the growth or value of your coins but might help them muster up the courage to invest in crypto. They might be looking for guidance maybe and not always try to laugh at you or try to be better than you.

I tell somebody that I'm trading but I can trust him that he will not say it to anybody that I'm trading. Aside from him, nobody knows that I'm trading and to be honest nobody knows that I'm being paid in the forum.

There are some incidents that traders have been murdered or killed for some reason that is why I don't want to publicize that I'm trading (even though I don't get many profits from it Cheesy ).

Common reason why some people don't tend to tell anybody about their Crypto engagement is that some aren't just like to be outclassed or being
overtaken when it comes to potential earnings or shall we say that some do think off to be some sort of competition.I would definitely say this matter yet I have
this kind of mindset wayback before when I do earn some good amounts.

Why to be secretive about cryptocurrency you trade with? Its good for everyone if more people join and when volume is rising. I trade longterm with bitcoin, ethereum, ripple, iota, and many others. Longterm gives me enough free space for maneuvering, you need that free space for that kind of trading with so many coins. I think just some whales are secret about their trading cause they are moving big amounts, and probably they dont wish everybody to know their actions, all others are very opened and share their trading experience with others.

Really, what is the reason to hide the cryptocurrency you are dealing with and trading? It seems to me that you should even promote it, so that more people will support the altcoin, and it will gain more popularity.

No, whenever people are asking on how I earn money I always say that it is from trading cryptocurrency, but of-course most of them won`t relate because obviously crypto is not so much known yet to people. I am proud on trading cryptocurrency though.
Trading cryptocurrency is really something to be proud of and me I want them to relate that is why I make sure that I let them know so that they can ask me for me to tell them about what cryptocurrency is all about. I didn’t actually start trading with crypto but forex, so some of my friend where already used to it.

Crypto only geared me towards getting an office for it when I was no longer comfortable with some things. i.e. I live in a country where we have some bad boys that takes advantage of their social media to scam innocent people using relationship to deceive them, so those ones are always on laptop and indoor 24/7.

When people see you don’t go out, they start classing you among these people until you start explaining to them you are a digital currency trader, but I am tired of that explanation now, I have gotten an office space that will give me more privacy.

not everyone has such thoughts, if indeed they have not fully understood the trading of digital currencies, of course they will continue to try to understand it and want basic knowledge from you first. only criteria are selfish people who have negative thoughts, so if they already understand it they think they can be superior in cryptocurrency trading. but being able to become a professional trader certainly requires experience first.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
I don't tell people that I am into crypto trading or an crypto investor, I always keep it from people and I only tell my family. Why I don't tell people about my crypto job is because I am not the type of person that likes to let people know everything that I'm into, somethings are meant to be kept a secret and not to be shared with everyone you see. So if people ask me what I do I simply tell them about my daily job. But I once told my friend that I do cryptocurrency and since he has been thinking that I'm too rich, when I haven't even gotten much from cryptocurrency yet.
That is something I have seen as well, if you tell people that you have some cryptocurrency two things tend to happen, the first is that some people may think that you are a scammer or a criminal because that is what the media says about those that hold cryptocurrencies, the second thing that it could happen is that they believe that you are rich and in my opinion that is even more dangerous because people are terrible at keeping secrets and they could reveal this to the wrong person and then someone could try to steal the fortune in crypto that you supposedly have.

I am not sure if it is a global question, if you live in a country that looks down upon crypto currencies and do not understand how it works then yeah you can totally hide the fact that you are trading bitcoin, nobody wants to be questioned by the authorities about what they are doing with crypto anyway. However if you are living in a country like USA where people are freely trading bitcoin and even paying their taxes for it then you should not hiding it because there is literally no reason to hide it.

You can just simply tell everyone you are trading bitcoin or working for bitcoin and what not and people would totally not care about it Cheesy That's why I think the question has an answer that depends on where you live and not what you do with bitcoin, hell you can be in USA and talk about selling weed for bitcoin and could be doing something legal whereas most of the world both of them are illegal at the same time.
