Does anyone here have their own journal or spreadsheets, and are you taking gambling seriously?
I know a friend who is good at keeping records of his gambling endeavors and he would always determine if he has made a profit or loss at the end of the year. He is not a gambling addict but he sees gambling as a serious business. I don't have any history of recording my gambling activities and I don't have any intention to keep such document. I gamble with what I would have spent on biscuits or junk, so the money is insignificant. I just think that it is unnecessary to have such records since what I spend is just little to keep a record. Keeping records will be also time-consuming and I don't think I have such time to spare. But I think that people who keep records about an activity, take it seriously.

I do this kind of recording because my job is always makes me track everything that regard finances. I always check my gambling stats at the end of my game just to compared it to my previous game and overall records.

It’s y way of organizing my expenses and track whether I’m spending too much on gambling. Being serious on managing bankroll is not a sign of addiction but rather a form pf being responsible since you will know if you re already over committed on gambling or not.

It’s funny how other people think of being serious = addicted on gambling while we should be serious on gambling because there’s moneh involved here.

No, I don't do this I'm not taking my gambling to a new level I don't even spend a lot of time looking at my betting history as I'm going to be disappointed with my stat I prefer to concentrate on my allocation for it not to go higher but I know a lot of my friends who are into horse racing which uses computer analysis tool just to know their favorite horses' chances.

This doesn't look good, as you have to spend countless hours and add more money to sustain your bets, so for me, keeping journal spreadsheets or using analysis tools will get you close to addiction.

That could happens to those who use a journal or spreadsheets to becomes addicted to gambling because they will thinks to recovers their lose and will comes back to casino and keeps playing gambling. They will not thinks that they already lose much money in gambling and needs to reduces their gambling activity because their minds still thinks about wins the games. Some people created a journal to monitor their gambling activity and control the money they have been used to playing gambling. But some others are trying to check their money and how much they already lost in gambling so they can return to casino and playing gambling. That can makes them spends more money to recovers their lost but that doesn't guarantee they can wins and gets their money back.

It depends on whether they use the spreadsheet to know the expenses and income from gambling because there is curiosity then the person uses the spreadsheet to record it but to lead to more serious gambling depends on the person if they think for an income then obviously this can be addictive and he will continue to play.

I don't have a journal about this gambling flow what it is, in the sense that when there is money I will gamble when there is no it will stop since so until now for several years of gambling do not have a journal or spreadsheet that you mentioned.

Does anyone here have their own journal or spreadsheets, and are you taking gambling seriously?
Taking gambling seriously is having a document to record how you manage your bank roll. Isn't it called bank roll management? It doesn't have to be a journal or spreadsheet. It could be something as informal as writing it on a note app on your phone. No matter how we have chosen to look at it, gambling must be done deliberately if not, there is a chance that one will go ahead to spend money they cannot afford to lose unknowingly.
I do not take gambling seriously to the point that I will calculate the amount of money that I am spending on gambling. I do not think I spend up to 1% of money on gambling. It is hard for me to even take my money to gamble but sometimes I will just want to have fun and bet or gamble with little amount of money. I am surprised that some people are thinking of gambling like this.

Spreadsheets will make you to manage proper your bankroll because you will consider your current bankroll size for your bet size. Let’s say I started with 1000$ then went down by a 100$, I will start adjusting my bet size increase/decrease depending on my situation.

Just like trading,  a record of your activity will help you to assess your current status.

Don’t need since casino offers a transaction history that works same as spreadsheets and journal. Besides, you can always request for your account summary to casino support to save time on recording your data.

I do, because I mean business. Yes, I'm serious with gambling so I made a spreadsheet of my bet to monitor my performance. Just a bankroll, and your bet and its outcome, as simple as that, with a profitable outcome, that means you are succesful with gambling.

Actually, everyone who like to try their journey with gambling should make a record of their bets, I'm talking about a particular  gambling type which is sports betting, as for me this requires skills to win and we can't lie to ourselves if there's a spreadsheet that will tell our peformance.

Does it prevent addiction? I don't know, maybe, but it's not guaranteed.

Previously, there were people who asked here where they questioned the gambling record for a month or year then it was the same as not a journal that wanted to know our average bet won or lost, but I didn't do that because gambling should be a pleasure not a journal.

If there is a spreadsheet or journal then they will take gambling seriously maybe he will consider whether it is profitable or not, but I don't do that gambling will not be taken seriously even though they often play gambling every weekend or when there is a big match.

One thing I do in gambling, if you lose it doesn't matter if you win then it's a luck that should be enjoyed.

I gamble for fun, and I don't take it that serious to the extent that I will have a spread sheet or journal to keep record of my gambling activities. Whenever I am gambling, I see it as fun because I am using an amount that will not affect me after the game.

Keeping record of my gambling activities is already easy for me, as I have a percentage that I assign to my gamble budget. So it is easy for me to know how much I have used to gamble in the year, because I just do my simple multiplication. If I win and lost it back to gamble, I don't count it as money that I lost.

Fave? As in favorite? Or pave?

I think taking it to the every detail that you manage to use an excel spreadsheet every step of the way is one of the best ways to really be serious about things and it could show you something that you might not have seen if you hadn't done it.

I do journal but not with having an excel spreadsheet, just writing my experiences for the day.

Peace be with you!
I think majority of us who gamble here in this forum don't do that thing because I personally didn't do that myself as that is time consuming and also I am not taking gambling very seriously especially nowadays where I find it hard to spend my hard earned money just for it.

Does anyone here have their own journal or spreadsheets, and are you taking gambling seriously?

A lot of persons who takes gambling seriously either turned an addicted winner or an addicted loser. I don't want to fall in the category of addiction so I don't bother creating any serious plans before gambling. I've never taught of creating a journal or spreadsheet before and don't think there's any need. There are two times I gamble. The first is when there's an important sport match that I know and I'm sure have good odds of winning. And the other when I'm less busy, I play casino games. So I don't put too much efforts on my gambling activities because I don't want to be among those addicted.

If I'm not mistaken, gambling has nothing to do with Journals or Spreadsheets, both of which are features that are often used by students in completing their Descriptive Studies in college work.
There are several courses that require completing a Descriptive Study about gambling.
For example: Journal
Gambling is a poor culture.

In general, journals are divided into several sections such as scientific journals, they are often related to methods of publishing the results of their research, whether it is soccer gambling, slots, Blackjack and so on all aim to show the student's character in communicating with each other in the academic world.
Likewise, the Spreadsheet feature aims to make it easier for students to manage or analyze their gambling data or to make it easier for them to analyze automatic gambling data.

Conclusion: because the user @savingformedschool is a medical student, so I'm not sure he's really a serious gambling addict, I suspect he just wants to communicate here, to complete his medical studies.
The problem with what he said in the title, I think it's just his luck or Demo gambling, which is basically: I never use the journal or Spreadsheet feature, because I'm not a Descriptive Study gambler.

I want to ask: Are Using A Journal or Spreadsheets Will Fave The Way For Addiction To Gambling?
Using a journal or a Spreadsheet will not lead to gambling addiction.. Gambling addiction is the result of irresponsible gambling. An irresponsible gamble doesn't even keep track of their gambling in any way. Keeping track of their gambling is simply holding themselves accountable. And one thing we know is that those guys hate accountability.

I am not sure about this however I think that professional gamblers are one group of people who have have a journal or spreadsheet where they record their profits and losses and keep to it strictly. Of course in the long run, it helps them in their evaluation of their gambling and gives them directions on their gambling to make an informed decision.

Does anyone here have their own journal or spreadsheets, and are you taking gambling seriously?

i don't think that it's important enough for me to be able to keep a journal or anything about my gambling, because it's just a hassle and it reduces the fun of gambling, so i don't have the intention to keep a journal or anything like that. i prefer to stick to my bankroll and play on that, it's easier and more fun, compared to having to make my bets on a journal.

Personally I don't think so, the guy who created the thread is talking about sports gambling, where there is scope to win if you are skilled enough, so if anything it might help him to succeed. And whoever does that and loses money will make him see his losses clearly, so I think it is preventive because degenerate gamblers often lose track of what they have lost.

I don't think so, it only shows that you're organized and you're making a journal out of it. So, that means that you're still in control and if ever your plan didn't go accordingly, you have contingency plans.

My reasoning is that by creating a spreadsheet or a journal, you are taking gambling seriously and looking for ways and a means to win in sports betting or luck-based games.
That's true because you've got a plan of growing your bankroll. We've got different descriptions about what addiction is but for me, I don't think that this is addiction.

There is a thread about a guy who created a thread about his bet and will make it his journal for betting

Hi everyone, I am going to attempt to turn 0.05 BTC into 1.7 BTC with football/soccer betting. I will be using this post as a journal for my bets.

I want to ask: Are Using A Journal or Spreadsheets Will Fave The Way For Addiction To Gambling? My reasoning is that by creating a spreadsheet or a journal, you are taking gambling seriously and looking for ways and a means to win in sports betting or luck-based games.

Does anyone here have their own journal or spreadsheets, and are you taking gambling seriously?

Nah, mate, I don't think we need journals for our gambling bet on how much we are +/-. Might just put to much pressure on the gambling to let's say he see that he has been losing money already and so he continues to play just to break even.

But some of us are just enjoying or having some fun so this kind of journal will not serve any purpose.

And isn't if if he has reach 1.7 BTC then he should stop as he had that goal reach already. So regardless if you are going to write it down, it won't change anything as long as we you have a goal in your mind.
