To everyone, I will lock this discussion thread after Qatar became the team that won this match in the final vs Jordan and they won with a score of 1-3.
All three of Qatar's winning goals were scored by their mainstay players and all three goals came from the penalty spot.

We will open this thread again when the biggest tournament on the Asian continent goes through another qualifying round.
As OP, I would like to thank you for the discussions and predictions we have had here.

As I predicted, in the end Qatar defended its Asian Cup title for the second time. In this match, what was unique was that three of Qatar's goals came from the penalty spot. Akham Afif scored a hat-trick and became the winning hero in this final match. As the match progressed, Qatar was slightly better technically. Likewise, based on opportunities, Qatar had 16 total shots, 6 on target, 1 big chance.  57% ball possession. In contrast, Jordan only had 8 total shots, 7 on target, 3 big chances. however, only one of them was able to convert it into a goal in this final match. well, in the end my prediction at the beginning since the progress of this thread was according to the scenario.

In the end, Qatar won the 2023 Asian Cup again. thus, Qatar was able to defend its title and became the first team in two decades to win the Asian Cup in two competitions. well, there are no other words other than congratulations to Qatar for winning this championship. in the Jordan camp, I really appreciate their performance so far.  In fact, Jordan was able to reach the final round of the Asian Cup. At the very least, they were able to prove that their team was worthy of being taken into account in this championship. in the end, this competition was won by Qatar again.
Qatar were able to successfully defend their title as the Asian champions today after convincingly defeating Jordan in a game that produced so many entertaining moments. Qatar's striker Akham Afif scored a hat trick or penalties to help the Qatar national team to triumph the whole Asia for the second consecutive time.
Jordan without doubt surprised many people as they were able to reach the final of the tournament for the first time in their history. I was actually seeing South Korea or Australia as the favorites to win the tournament but little did I know that Qatar would be this impressive in the tournament. Congratulations to them.

Personally, I was not convinced by the Qatari performance, nor that Qatar is actually capable of achieving progress compared to many of the well-established teams in the official Asian Championship. This is not to belittle Qatar or to diminish its value, but in fact there is a clear difference in the levels of performance and determination to win.

At the beginning of the tournament, everyone was betting on the Qatari team at every stage, considering it was the tournament organizer. But none of them expected such a rapid rise, reaching the finals, and then winning so easily.
It was a surprise since Qatar succeeded in progressing to the quarter-finals and then succeeded in defeating well-established teams that had been performing well throughout the tournament. Even those who were rooting for Jordan were often from their Arab Qatari brothers.

Congratulations Qatar you won, but I was a little surprised by the 3 penalties. Although I think there was a bit of controversy in the semi-final and it was very beneficial for Qatar. In this final match there were a few moments that shouldn't have been penalties. The Qatar players are very easy to fall in the penalty area. But this has already happened, congratulations, I like the Jordanian game. Congratulations Qatar now you are brace title 2019 and 2023.

~snip~
Doesn't this happen often, there are also top players who have been able to take advantage of the situation and become star players with million titles.
But Afif was little different because he played quite well even though in reality 3 of Qatar winning goals were only due to penalty kicks, this was an unexpected surprise because Jordan received penalties for three alleged violations in the penalty box.
There are some sentiments that are bit controversial regarding this, but you are right that everything has happened and is clearly reality that must be accepted by everyone, including Jordan as runner-up.

But this is really quite interesting final match and if there are no penalties that result in penalties then Qatar will lose their record as defending champions because Jordan will definitely be the champion.
We all watched the final match which was
completely dominated by Jordan game and we saw how they played very well and were able to make Qatar defense little messy.

Congratulations to Qatar, you are a bit lucky and champions. I've disliked it from the beginning because there were some refereeing decisions that I thought were unfair. The current FInal is also a bit bad, the performance of the referee and VAR is of little use. Ma Ning seems to favor the host a lot, so there are many negative comments about him on social media. Of course results won't change, but problems like this shouldn't happen in big games. Next I look forward to the 2027 Asian cup, I hope my country can enter the top 8. In addition, my prediction in the final was also wrong, Japan and Korea were eliminated.
Qatar secured their second consecutive Asian Cup victory by defeating Jordan 3-1 in an exciting final at the iconic Lusail Stadium. Unfortunately, the match was marred by biased refereeing that favored Qatar, leaving Jordan feeling unlucky and unfairly treated. Despite the win, Qatar shouldn't feel proud considering the unfair decisions that influenced the game. It's disappointing that teams like Qatar are hailed as champions under such circumstances.

See you at the 2027 Asian Cup which will be held in Saudi Arabia. In the reading resources I got there were two potential hosts, India and Saudi Arabia. But India withdrew and Saudi Arabia was elected during the AFC Congress meeting on February 1, 2023 in Manama, Bahrain. There are at least 8 stadiums that have been included in the match plan,
1. King Fahd Sports City Stadium,
2. King Saud University Stadium,
3. Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium,
4. Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium,
5. Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City Stadium,
6. Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium,
7. Dammam Stadium,
8. Prince Saud bin Jalawi Sports City Stadium

Congratulations for Qatar because they can able to be the champion of this tournament and it was very fantastic because they have done it 2 times in a row however i haven't watching the match but people now talking about Qatar winning because they says Qatar is not deserved for the trophy and 3 penalty decision from the referee is a bit controversy especially it was happened in the final match which some people considers those decisions wasn't fair for Jordan and some people says Jordan is performing more good than Qatar so they more deserved for the trophy
But regardless all of those controversy although Jordan was failed to gets the trophy but i think Jordan has done fantastic achievement because at the beginning of this tournament nobody will predict Jordan will advances to the final match but Jordan can reversing people's predictions and before reach to the final match Jordan can able to eleminate big teams just like South Korea or Iraq

It's only fitting that he gets the chance to 3 scores from penalty kicks, it turns out he's Fifa nephew, Lol

TBH, at first I believed that Jordan might be able to win the title in this final round because of the style of play and seeing several very sharp attacks that made Qatar feel pressured, but unfortunately Jordan often made the same mistakes and for some reason the mistakes occurred in the penalty area.
I thought what a match this was, how come they won with only 3 penalty kicks while Jordan performance was superior to Qatar.

but looking at the repeated mistakes it seems that Jordan was too enthusiastic and very aggressive to get the title so he was very afraid of conceding and made a tackle that he didn't realize was in the penalty area.
a disappointment that cannot be lost for Jordan because they lost in the final round only with a ridiculous score of 3 penalty kicks.
If there were no violations, Jordan chances of winning would be greater, but after the mistake, Jordan lost his enthusiasm.
There was nothing impressive in this final match and all that was because Qatar received 3 penalty kicks. Luckily, all 3 penalty kicks went in, otherwise the fans would have definitely criticized him. But it's also strange to see 3 penalties in a final match like this and I think Jordan will also start to lose his enthusiasm because Qatar always scores goals from the penalty spot.

But it is true that mistakes or violations committed by Jordan players in the defensive penalty box area made them lose their chance to win this final and once again we seem to see a familiar incident in this final (needless to say, everyone already knows). Roll Eyes

Well, apart from that, congratulations to Qatar for winning back to back Asian Cup titles and I hope Jordan won't be too sad because of this defeat and they must remain enthusiastic in the upcoming competition.

Cool table showing the number of championship title each country has had in this Asian Cup tournament over the decades it has existed.
Iran were heavy favorites in their match against Qatar which were 5.50x odds to beat them last week.
I remember watching this match as it was the only one I had the time to view with a busy work week. But it was exciting to watch the Qatari fend off the Iranians for over 10 minutes when they scored the winning goal. Think there were 13 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match which made it even more exciting to watch the defense work.

Congratulations to them for their back to back champion cup wins!

Without Afif, Qatar wouldn't reach the final game for sure. When we look to the penalties, they were correct and it is all the fault of Jordanian players in the first place and the goalkeeper especially in the last one.
When I see the time line of this competition, I find that Japan, Saudi Arabia and Iran won more cups than all the remaining teams but these 3 nations stopped winning before 2011 except Japan which was the runner-up in 2019 and lost against Qatar.
South Korea too wasn't successful after 1988 except 2015 where it played the final game..

Final was quite dramatic and of course this was very interesting final match, but looking at the course of the match, Jordan actually had much better game and they even had several opportunities to score goals but failed.
Barsham as Qatar goalkeeper played well and he became the best goalkeeper for this competition with achievements in saving efforts from every attack by opposing players, I see Barsham is really very competitive.
In this final match I watched the game with great enthusiasm to see the new champion, when Jordan managed to equalize there was clearly chance but after few minutes there was foul which resulted in penalty kick.
It was truly very lucky victory for Qatar, who are also the defending champions.

For Afif. Congratulations on achieving the top scorer in this big tournament.

Regarding other awards such as best player and a number of other awards, I am waiting for responses from everyone here.

Congratulations, Qatar, Champion of the 2023 Asian Cup, Become Champions Back to Back

The Qatar national team finally managed to become champions after beating Jordan in the final with a score of 3-1. This success ordained Qatar to become the ruler of Asia. After winning the 2019 Asian Cup, Qatar has now successfully defended its title after becoming champions of the 2023 Asian Cup.

Qatar's success in the 2023 Asian Cup is truly perfect. Because, Qatar is not only the champion and the Fair Play Team but also has all the awards at the individual level. Akram Afif was the top scorer with eight goals. Akram Afif also won the Best Player title. Meanwhile, Meshaal Barsham was selected as the Best Goalkeeper.

Thanks to this success, Qatar became the fifth country to win the Asian Cup in a row.

I am sure that a player deciding a game with three penalties being scored during regular time must be a very rare event when we talk about finals of big international tournaments. At least I can't recall to have ever seen a final that had so many penalties and then that the same player scored three penalty goals. As the host I think this win meant a lot to Qatar, but Jordan had a great ride in this tournament as nobody thought they could make it into the final given that their opponents were said to be superior at almost all stages of the tournament.

Congratulations to Qatar as champions of the 2023 Asian Cup.

There were many interesting surprises in the Asian Cup tournament which was held in Qatar. Many top teams fail. Meanwhile, Jordan and Qatar, who competed at the end of the tournament, were not widely predicted as the teams that would be in the final. That's it.

Thank you very much to Qatar as the host of the 2023 Asian Cup. To Jordan, congratulations on the success of being able to give the best to all fans even though they were only runners up.

For Afif. Congratulations on achieving the top scorer in this big tournament.

Qatar becomes the first team in 2 decades to win back to back Asian cups, which come either side of hosting the world cup in '22. Fair to say it has been a very productive couple of years for the nation in footballing terms.

They were impressive throughout the tournament and played some very good football leading up to the final. Congratulations to the team.

VAR changed the situation which gave Qatar victory. Again, VAR is being checked by the referee. If a violation is proven, Qatar will receive another penalty. It is true. The referee again showed the spot which allowed Afif to score a hat trick with a penalty.
1-3 for Qatar to win and Afif successfully converted his third penalty.

A strange final in my opinion.
Since VAR decisions are correct then Jordan have to blame themselves for missing that golden opportunity to bring the Asian Cup home.
Qatar and precisely Afif scored 3 penalties and even the draw didn't pass like 5-6 minutes. Jordan are pushing in these last minutes but it is too late.
I could say from now Congratulations to Qatar securing their AFC Asian Cup Smiley
Cannot protest against the referee's decision to award three penalties because VAR showed that all three showed mistakes made by Jordanian players.
Rarely have I watched the final of a big tournament like the Asian Cup get three penalties which led to a team successfully lifting the championship trophy.
Jordan feels like he just needs a miracle until finally we can congratulate Qatar as champions of the 2023 Asian Cup.

The Jordanian team entered into a state of confusion since Qatar obtained the second penalty kick, and that the process will take place in that show, this may have increased pressure on the psyche of the players and their return in playing, which led them to commit the same mistake. Of course, my analysis is based on the idea of reliability in what VAR offers.

Despite the strangeness of what happened, because the Jordanian team was at the level of organization and control of the ball better than the Qatari team, luck is sometimes the master of the situation. Congratulations to the Qatari team for winning the championship for the second time in a row.
