I'm beginning to be really curious as to what the hold up is. Proper way to do this is to plan ahead, and plan for errors also.

Has something come up?
Why was hardware ordered after chips and boards arrived?
Haven't any mechanical CAD or thermal analysis been done?

Hope your update is open and detailed. There's no need to keep any secrets at this point.

In another 3 hours there will be a negative difficulty adjustment, a perfect moment to unleash a couple TH of hashing power Smiley
It was 10 hours ago ...
217728 had the new difficulty 2968775.3320751

It was a perfect moment to start, but it seems there are no mining rigs ready yet.... Guess we have to wait till Friedcats update in a couple of hours to hear where they stand at the moment.....
Well he hasn't sent me the dev board yet Cheesy
Though I've also no idea of any details either.
e.g. USB chip or MCU protocol
Of course there are lots of other interesting things to know, but those two will be what I'll need to know when the board arrives.
(but knowing in advance of course would mean I might be able to pre-emptively do some coding)

Update

What happened last week:

1. Workshop with sufficient power supply and cables for mining farm settled.
2. Solution of mechanical parts such as heatsinks done and products bulk-ordered.
3. The mass production (second batch) of the chips starts in the fab.
4. The rest 6 wafers finished and in the QC stage.
5. Waiting for all the main boards assembled with chips and components done.

We would like to say that the shareholders of ASICMINER are always in a better place now, than device users. because while  the everlasting free upgrade from providers for users is not possible, all our future products will benefit our shareholders. Thanks to all shareholders for taking the risks with/for us as investors in the beginning of our project. Higher risks are almost always rewarded with higher returns when the risks are eliminated. Now the biggest risks have gone so please expect the enjoying of both short-term and long-term profits of us in the next years. And also thanks for your patience.

The deploying with the whole 12 wafers may take more than two weeks. But everything is progressing well and no exceptions happened. We will make more frequent updates when any new milestones are hit.

The excitement is killing me! Can we have our update a little bit early this week?

[And please let the message be: "ASICMiner has already started hashing..."!]

I got 69 shares, I would like to sell them if anyone wants to buy it. I was thinking maybe .5 or .4BTC per share.

PM me if you want to negotiate a price : >

friedcat won't recognize the sale anyhow. Just wait until the exchange is up and running.

Framing is important, so let me ask it like this:
Freidcat, would you please post an brief note on what the current status of the project is and when the next milestone worth announcing will happen? Thanks!

What's the rush? Last update was 3 days ago:

Pretty much what I meant. No events that changed that update happened so its still accurate.

Well, now that Avalon apparently shipped, would you like to give an estimate on when we start hashing and how many TH/s are we looking at?
I don't see the correlation between a competitors shipment and the availability of that information.

If I have 3 apples, how many oranges do you have?

I'm getting 2 oranges tomorrow, since we are comparing fruit delivery timetables. I'm glad you already have your apples, enjoy them.

Same thing with ASIC, the question could be stated as "Since your competitor has just achieved a milestone, we would like and update with regards to the next milestone we can expect from this project."

This is an EXTREMELY common question in the IT business, I doubt it is that unusual in most cases where you have innovators competing to ship a new innovation.

There is NO correlation, but nonetheless would still be nice to know.... And presumably not too difficult to answer....

Dont worry guys. Friedcat didnt show any sign till now that something is fake with the project. So i dont believe that you will lose any money. I think he still is confirming but has more important things to do. So i think he should work on that. You wont have to fear to lose anything if your claims were right.

However, the shareholders of ASICMINER are always in a better place

Props for the decency to present it as an equity deal from day one, rather than calling stock subscription "preorders" like everyone else.

Yeah, this. It still pisses me off how BFL abused all of their investors by calling them customers and called their investments preorders. Between BFL and bASIC, a lot of bullshit has gone on that ASICMINER and Avalon and the entire Bitcoin community could have done without.

But it was pretty clear from the start that you invest as a shareholder in asicminer and that the chips from bfl has to be created first. That wasnt hidden. So everyone who bought there played the game and lost. That happens. But i dont think thats a reason to blame bfl. They are late but that was part of the things that can happen from the start.
The thing is, in North America you are not allowed to accept payment for an item that is not ready to ship. You probably noticed that if you order something backordered they will refund the payment and recharge once they receive the item and ship (if payment was cleared at checkout, if not they will just charge later). Or when you preorder something (a PS3 game for example) you merely save your place in queue and they charge on the release date. BFL was not allowed to take the money before building the rigs. And they knew it too, because I initially ordered some and they were saying "no refunds", and I just emailed saying I want a refund because it is not legal and I would pursue ligitigation if they refused. Next day, full refund no questions asked. That people knew or not that the items were not ready does not make taking money first then manufacture legal. So yeah, they are to blame to use illegal practice to run their business.

Do we know if any blocks have been mined using ASIC devices yet, even if it's only a test on a prototype board ?

Ah, there we go. I just received a reasonable-looking email confirming shares, and bitcoin address.

Even if he doesn't get around to all the shares before the ASICs are up and running, he will know how much BTC to keep for the unconfirmed shares.
