I am interested in how you will be gathering the shipping address when the time comes and privacy issues. (It is, of course, not acceptable that this information gets entered onto your Google Docs spreadsheet, for example.)

Here is a thought / suggestion.

Step 1) You send PM stating it is time to pay and with the address to send the BTC as well as an email address to receive the shipping information.

Step 2) Buyer sends you email stating that payment has been sent for to and including the shipping address.

Step 3) You reply to email acknowledging payment and that you see no problem with the shipping address which was provided via email.

NOTE 1: At least step 2 cannot be done via PM. Some folks might not be willing to submit Personally Identifiable Information (PII) via/to "bitcointalk.org".

NOTE 2: At the conclusion of this group buy you will have the identities of scores of nicks used on this forum in your possession. What is your commitment regarding stewardship of that information?

An apology if you've already addressed the issue and I overlooked it.

excellent suggestion. sounds like a plan. as to stewardship of the info, i'll delete the relevant emails once i know the usb miners have reached their destinations successfully.

Please put me down for 1.  I will increase my order if I can get more coins into my wallet.  Thanks!

It would just take me about a week to get the coinage (initial funding via dwolla, etc.)

Try coinbase.  You can buy for market price until they run out of liquidity, and they hit your bank account (EDIT - once it's verified).  Fee is 1%.  Pretty good when it works, frustrating when it doesn't.

I've already committed to 5. If we end up short (on payment) I will commit to an additional 5 (possibly more). There may be others willing to do so as well.

It would just take me about a week to get the coinage (initial funding via dwolla, etc.)

Note: this is *not* a request to up my current order Wink

understood. hopefully won't be an issue. i wish i knew more people locally who were into bitcoin... could ask them to join in. oh well.

I'm sure too now that you gather more than 300 hundred orders, that clears this whole problem away. I was just pointing this out so that you could consider early on what to do if you end up just little over 300. BTW, that European group order (in which I am part of with my humble 1 or 2 units) is now at minimum 386 USBees.

well screw them! (joking! well done guys.)

Heh I'm in Europe (not really, I'm in the UK) and I would get my order earlier with them but I'm sticking here.

BTW hopefully Bitfountain will realise how hard is going to be selling 10K units at this price and cut it a bit.

we can hope! the lowering price, i mean. i bet anything ya like that if the price were even 1.5 btc, the number of sales would skyrocket.

unless someone else has a better idea, then, in short, yea. we'd be screwed.

I'd suggest just taking extra orders to be filled in place of people who Welch or get hit by a bus.  The slope of the order curve indicates to me that there will not be much trouble obtaining enough overage to cover likely wash-outs (absent a giant leap in BTC valuations.)  Also, I thought that ~friedcat simply specified a minimum.  So if more than 300 units are ordered and payed up they could all possibly recieve joy.

I think that the most important thing is to get to the 300 before those damned foreigners so our order goes first.  But since everyone loves Americans it could be that we get the priority we deserve just as Jesus intended even if we don't cross the finish line first.  (I should check how the German effort is going before blabbing I suppose...)

well yea, i'll gladly take MORE then 300 orders!

as to the other bit: BHAHAHAH!

I think that I'm following all the group buy threads and it seems that yours and the German one are only ones who are even close to 300. If I remember correctly, the Sapphire batch was going to be 10,000 units so there is plenty for both of us  Smiley Cool
