I just want to make sure the math is right:

Minimum Order 300 units @ 1.99/unit = 597 btc to factory

2% escrow fee to John K on 597 btc = 608.94 btc total needed for a shipment

297 units required to ship (not counting 3 for OP organizing fee)

608.94 / 297 = 2.0503030303... each

.05/unit shipping (that's shipping to our door, not from factory; factory shipping is free).

2.0503030303 + .05 = 2.100303030303

Right?

What's the extra .001 for?

Also, this is a minimum purchase of 300.  Does that mean if we get more demand we can go over 300?  Are we cutting off at exactly 300?

we will gladly order more then 300 if we get that many.

and your math is different cause you didn't include the shipping inthe amount john gets a fee on. so it's (1.99 x 300) + (.05 x 297) = 611.85 + 2% = 624.087 / 300

err.... i think.

Ah, ok.  You're right.

I don't want to pee on your cereals, but have you considered the possibility that someone doesn't pay their order in timely manner or at all? What do you do then? This of course isn't a problem if you gather interest for over 300 pieces, because then you can just drop out those who haven't paid, but if you end up on exectly or just a few over 300 then everybody must wait for the last payments and because time is of essence when purchasing mining gear you might end up with some very angry customers.

In my last group buy, once orders were open it was first come first serve.  This is just to gauge interest before beginning.

Put me down for one.  These are just too awesome for me not to get one, although I agree that they should be half the current price.

Put me in for 1 right now.

If timing of the buy works out, with me being available and having liquid BTC, I might increase it at that point, which I assume is no problem, due to the order being a minimum, correct?

Just out of curiosity, what is the plan when orders start? Its easy to say that 300 people have committed to buy, but it is much harder to say that 300 people have transferred the bitcoins.

Just wondering why you are not accepting transfers right away, as it would gauge real interest and allow people to 'buy' and be done with it. The reason is, I might be pretty busy coming up and might not have time to watch the thread and get in on a buy, or watch for changes etc.

i don't want people sending btc to john and him have to send them right back if we don't reach 300.

as for not watching the thread, no big. i'll be PMing everyone as well.

Based on current real life feedback, is there any chance we could get friedcat to knock off 10%? If the North America group buy is stalling, it must be near impossible for the other regions to get one. Unless of course, someone really has gone out and bought 300 of these for resale at high markups.
