Well now that we have the VAT issue out of the way not much is standing in the way of opening up for Auroracoin / ISK trading. We have been waiting for this so that we don't break any laws by not collecting VAT on trades or commissions.

Hopefully we will have a meeting this week to plan the release.

NB. the beta is still open up for trading. If you are from Iceland join beta.isx.is

Do you really think all of a sudden there would be no Value Added Tax on goods any more just because you pay them with crypto? That's unthinkable. There's even VAT on goods even if you pay them with other goods: you have to value them in FIAT and then pay the VAT.

It's good to see Icelandic officials have confirmed in writing that there's no VAT on crypto. Congrats on getting that commitment.
