I would buy a reliable expensive miner rather than the shitty S9 even if I have to pay using paper money.

Maybe Canaan has obligations and need FIAT.

hmmmm

I am willing to use paypal and or cc and pay a service charge of 3-4%

Bank transfer to China  is a hassle  and they told us this with almost no notice.

If it was mentioned 60 days ago or even 30 days ago it would be easier to be ready.

I would need to go to my bank Well Fargo and open a business account to do it since it is not a personal transfer.
Wells Fargo is in the middle of a scandal so  I know that they will be extra careful for it to be fully reported to the Gov.

I don't need the hassle of that.

It is unfortunate that :

the gear costs more then the S9    Strike one
uses more power   then  the S9     Strike two
Plus needs special payment           Strike three

The lack of BTC payment could have fatal consequences for A721 sales.
I think that they have not thought this through.

yeah I can not be doing wire transfers.  I talked with Wells Fargo and since it is a business product and not a personal sale paperwork is too intense.

Hey some good news I got a pm  about a different thread and other gear.

I notice Avalon does not have a power support for sale on their site. What are you using for a power supply for the AvalonMiner 721's?
Please forgive (or flame) me if this was discussed previously and I missed it.

The best price performance ratio you get with used server PSU.
But you could also use one or two ATX PSU.
Both boards can be powered independently

Finally received my invoice from Canaan.  Confirming that only bank wire option was available for payment.  Scheduled the wire.  Shame that is the only option as I would have purchased more.

I have 12 Avalon 6 hashing now. They are all controlled by one Rpi, will this controller still work on the Avalon 7s? Or do I have to buy their controller as well?

You only need to update the Software  Smiley
If you upgrade the software does it still run the A6?
Or, I should ask, can you run the A6 and A7 from the same Pi?

Good question, I guess yes
I'll check at the weekend

I also guess yes. We were always able to run older Avalons alongside current gen on the same controller and I'd be very surprised if they scrapped that legacy support.

im all for "quality" but whats the point when it will take 420 days to break even at todays difficulty (its going up by 10% in the next couple of hours so that number will be higher)?? thats with .10 per kwh too which in my state its about .15. with free power it will take 215 days to break even at the current diff but not everyone has power they dont pay for so when they can beat bitmain on price AND quality then i would buy some but until then i cant justify taking up twice as much space and using a bunch of extra power supplies to power the extra miners i would be running.

does bitmian still take bitcoins remember china was trying to stop the use of bitcoins or control it,a few weeks ago. might be why no bitcoins or only one form of payment, i guess cash is easy to hide or move or  it's normal business there to pay some one off in cash in the GOV or not really illegal sense the gov controls every thing. or all they want is cash sells for now and don't want to  deal with CC fees and bitcoin fees etc. they used to take bitcoins.last thought they need cash fast to pay off creditor because that merger deal really went bad thy lost a few bucks .who knows why, I'm guessing now .

Quick update as I know there has been multiple lines of communication on the subject of payment.  I opened up a support ticket asking when I could expect to make payment arrangements for the two that I ordered.

Here was the response:

Hi,

Shipment begins on November 21 (the US time).

We will email you to make the payment before the shipment.

An invoice will  be attached in the email, with final shipping rate on it.

Bank transfer is accepted only.

Thank you.

Shame she points back to only allowing a single form of payment as our option.

I am surprised at the low hash to energy consumption figures on the A7.  Compared to an S9 the A7 isn't even in the ball park.  That is really too bad.  Bitmain needs some competition at this point.  Not really anything in the way of choices right now for miners.

this gear needs to be reliable .  it is good if you have cheap power.
