Yep, they were planning that for quite sometime. I'm pretty sure it'll be a modest "bump" to the 741 but without better chips, I expect them to have roughly the same efficiency as the before.

keeping an eye on the avalon software, I have noticed this:

https://github.com/Canaan-Creative/cgminer/commit/e0a064459d8764f562831cd79c7900caef985008

So it looks like we will have   a new Avalon 761 with 26 chips on a board  (108 asics if the number of boards will be 4 as in 741).  So we expect around 9TH per miner.

This is old news

update for my two avalons.

I have opened a ticket at caanan yesterday (although the purchase was made at minerwarez).
They moved super fast, we exchanged a few messages and now the PMU replacements are waitting to be shiped.

Great job Caanan !

I repeat: Raspberry can't detect this module!  Wink

White LED itself means that the controller can't be initialized (correct me if I wrong). PMU LEDs are flashing with red light once (with different PSUs with normal 12.1-12.3V) after turning on PSU and then they go off.

Machine LED (In front)

LED Status   MEMO
Blue           Working normally
Yellow   Idle normally
White   Turn on LED manually
Red           Toohot/PG failed

as long as you don't have a RED Light, it might be just a software problem.
this is why i need the log from cgminer

The PMU leds flashing red and then turning off it's a nasty problem.  Could be PMU firmware or MM firmware.  Did you tried to update any of that?

The LED on controller board of my Avalon 721 is constantly white. How can I repair it? This Avalon module thereafter can't be detected by Raspberry Pi for re-flashing.

check the USB cable and the AUC convertor.  maybe something is broke there.
Can you paste the CGMINER API Log ?

That's all you can do, they may take a few days to get back to you, but opening the ticket and firing off the emails is your best bet. Let us know how it turns out.

Yeah with Minerwarez strictly being a distributor, if it isn't a damaged package or visibly damaged miner there's not much they can do. Even in those cases it would mostly be about recovering shipping fees, all Miner related issues would still be through Canaan, who if I remember correct handled Phillipma1957's warranty issue quite well. They will deal with everyone a little differently, on a case by case basis though I'm sure.

Edit: I started a thread specifically for Minerwarez, not sure if people want to use it or not, but I thought it might be nice to keep things compartmentalized

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/minerwarez-official-canaan-distributor-2277516

I also had this post under mining support for the 741's for general info if anyone wants to chime in on my questions or anything else in that preexisting thread:

thanks!

I will try to create a ticket on caanan website, cause minerwarez has no such thing.

Hope that somebody will answer my mail, i know that Steven Mosher checks this thread sometimes.  (email was sent to minerwarez, steven and a couple of tech guys from caanan).

For my damaged fan, I noted it right out of the box with Photos, I emailed them and Minerwarez, with the photos, I then test ran it to make sure it was operational which it is still, the damage appeared to be purely cosmetic

From the emails provided and information given, after about 1/12 weeks they had created a support ticket, and invoice. They than sent me a fan, it hasn't arrived yet, but is en route. The invoice came out as cost neutral, so I did not have to pay anything, and they are essentially taken a preventative measure by providing me with a fan, should mine develop an problem operationally.

In my case it was just a fan, not a hash board or anything so I can't say how they will handle it, but in the future I would try and create a support ticket as soon as possible, and follow their directions for troubleshooting; not to discount any advice you were given here.

This way you might be able to get things moving as fast as possible for yourself, and could save you some back and forth, in regards to communicating to them everything you have already tried.

Good luck.

Did anybody else had this problem with minerwarez's batches?

Q:  Maybe some connectors poped-out during shippment?  I'm not familiar with the internal wiring in 741, so not sure if it's possible.

Update:

https://imgur.com/a/HGMkM

The PSU have green light on the left side, and green and yellow on the right side. Is that ok?

I'm wondering if you have a way to check and see if all of your cables from the PSU's are in good shape? Including their connections.

Also if one of the PSU cables was bad, could that have caused board damage? It is weird that it happened to both of the miners. I have never used that PSU so I don't know what lights you should be seeing, maybe check with the manufacturer.

Did you create a support ticket? When my 1st batch order came in there was some cosmetic fan damage and within 2 weeks they had sorted it out, I know it took a little longer because it fell during Golden Week. Was that photo an image of it running at -1? it looked as if your Hashrate has come up  a little, still not where it should be.

checked the cables before plugin.  (knew from Phil they there were some problems with them).
The check was :
    - visual inspect
    - check that 12v  goes to 12V
    - check that ground goes to ground
    - continuity check for each wire for each cable  (using a multimeter)
For both PSU   (each avalon is connected to own PSU)  - i have checked the voltage with the multimeter.   it was in good range:  12.43 V to 12.45 V

I will create a support ticket, right now I have just sent an email and i'm waitting for answer.

The stable rate now it's around 6080 GHZ for offset -1 and around 6200 for offset 0.

How they handled your damaged fan?   Did you sent the avalon back to minerwarez and 1)they shipped you a new one  2) they shipped you your avalon repaired  3)they sent you a new fan?

Is it still worth buying with bitmain shipping out in november?

I personally went with the S9s as I'm waiting on an order from Minerwarez since my other orders were "out of stock" cancelled and my affiliates orders on Canaan were also cancelled for the same reason.
Though at this point with the reliability and warranty claim delays, I don't see the point in a less efficient miner compared to an S9.
If the latest batch of S9s are less reliable than before, I should have went for A741s, but if they are the same as before or better, I don't see a single selling point in A741s any more.  No more fast shipping, support, and solid reliability.

Perhaps when the next generation of miners from companies start to sale, we'll see if things change.
First time that both companies now have constant stock of 741 and S9. compared to selling out in 5 minutes.

Due to recent drawback in quality and based on their price, my answer now would be "No".

so this is what 1 of my 6 is looking like now...

Looks like only half of the miner is working, check the power from the side that is out. Shut it down and restart it to see if it comes back. You can also swap the cables and see if the other side goes dark.

he can do a soft restart  of cgminer.

but it is looking like these avalon's do not have the quality of earlier models.
