So sale starts in 2 h right? also if I use bitrex as my wallet will I have a problem if I "withdraw" the payment amount to the payment address?
That is entirely up to bitrex and rules of your account with them.
If you can send/spend BTC from it for other things there is no reason it should matter. Just remember that the BTC price is what Canaan says it is when they send you the amount due and BTC payment address. That BTC price is valid for 48hrs. That exchange rate vs USD price shown when ordering is referenced to who they use for exchange - not yours.

so a.k.a. have more BTC in your account than what you "think" is enough
Exactly. Somewhere on the Canaan site they say who their exchange is so you can have an idea of what the BTC price should be close to. I have never noticed any large change between price when I ordered up or down based on daily/hourly BTC exchange rates but over the typically day or 2  it takes them to provide the amount/address there no doubt might be some.

So question. Is there any "real" difference between the cheap $80 ebay PSU that is *ahem* rated at 93% efficiency vs a real computer grade PSU with the platinum certification rated at 1300 watt? i ask because instead of buying a cheap psu (mainly due to the real world pc building fear of unknown brands causing fires due to cheap parts as i have home servers and pc's) i bought

SILVERSTONE SST-ST1300-TI 1300W ATX12V 80 PLUS TITANIUMhttps://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256195

This item is already at my house and regardless for my sane mind i will continue to use these types.

Just want to know others thoughts on this.

A year ago Bitmain was still releasing 1-2 batches per month, no waiting (pre-ordering) but nonetheless there was still a big reseller market. Prolly only because of at least *some* charge-back protections against scammers?

Huge downside is of course NO Factory Warranty when using a reseller. It's all between you and them.

ref the edit about wires/time

I was thinking the L3+ was closer to the cost of S9 for some reason...
Nope. Bitmain charges all that the Market will bear and right now that is $$$

I am definitely seeing that. Is all this secondary market mark-up normal or has their been a recent surge along with the increase in BTC, ETH, LTC, etc...?

I can't imagine they were getting these kinds of prices on ebay and Amazon a year ago.

Oh - Didley - talk to Philipma about your ventilation needs?  'Prolly will point you to the numerous threads about this he has done describing part of his setup...

I was hoping one of you would happen along that thread and reply without me having to point-blank bug you about something else, haha.

But since you mentioned it... No, I haven't PM'd Philipma yet.

edit:
Ya, Banks do take their time processing Wires. Gives them some time to play the spot market with our money. Good part is you know right off the bat what the price is (plus bank fees) and that it cannot change a few days later by being ref'd to BTC

Nope... no raspi or controller. Just get the controller you think?

Snow_Dragon, they let you do direct bank transfer? I thought it had to be BTC except for 50+ unit orders. I'd rather do the bank transfer and avoid the charges from buying the BTC.

Most banks charge a fee for oversea's bank transfers plus then the wait and such for it to clear on their end. (During the wait they may sell out  Shocked )

Using Coinbase for 0.22926788 BTC i paid $14.90 in fees for a bank purchase which is what i will be using this time around.

Also the L3+ sell for 40LTC generally, if that holds true at 11am in hong kong then thats $2566

How long does it take for the bank purchase to go through? It's telling me 9 September if I did it now... Blegh.

I was thinking the L3+ was closer to the cost of S9 for some reason... I could buy 3 more 741s for the price of one L3+. Not sure I'm confident enough in a LTC when there will be 2 or 3 batches added to the total hash before I even get mine.

I was wondering, what with the volatility of BTC pricing, when you have ordered in the past what price do they tend to quote. The day the order is placed or the price the day they send you a wallet address?
Ive seen it go both ways for no rhyme or reason but once they provide it the 'true' price in USD is always at least close to when I ordered. Check the Canaan site for what exchange they reference to.

you can buy 1  it is a rasp pi.  it  can do up to 20 units but  I would say  do 4 on each one if you are small  time.

I build spare units for about 65 bucks.

Ya their Pi is now over priced since they raised it to $100 but it IS a nice one and plug-n-play with the miners. Canaan says each Pi can run 4x strings of 5x miners (20) but I prefer only 2-3 per-USB port/dongle. Used to be $60 but I'd still just get it and be ready to go.
